Watching an old show as if for the first time

I'm jealous of people who have never seen Breaking Bad. They could watch it for the first time with all the excitement of not knowing what is going to happen next. BB holds up great in additional viewings, but there's nothing like that first time.

However, I've realized I could erase my memory and then watch it, as if it were for the first time. What a great idea. So I'm going to hit myself in the head really hard with a hammer and then watch Breaking Bad. But what if that makes me forget to watch it? Just in case of that, I'll write myself a reminder note.
What a great idea! So I've got a hammer and my handwritten note all ready for tonight. I have some headache meds ready just in case of that side effect.

I'll get to watch BB as if for the first time!

Some times you go back and rewarch a series and you can see foreshadowing scenes you might have missed before. You might also catch things you have overlooked before.

And sometimes you go back and wonder why you liked the serious so much in the first place and notice plot elements that were forgotten, or altered later like the writers made it up as they went along and completely forgot their own canon.

BB ruined it for me. Can’t be topped, at least it hasn’t been topped. Watched it a second time but not the same. Fantastic series though. For me, best ever…

Same here. Best series ever. I was told Ozark was just as good, but it really isn't. That's not to say it's lousy. It's actually really good, but no show has been as good as Breaking Bad, at least not that I've seen.

I'm told I should watch the Sopranos, which I haven't seen yet. It's supposed to be really good. I'm also told that Game of Thrones is superb. I have seen its very first episode, but was turned off by it. Maybe I should give it another shot.

I've been watching reruns of Combat!
Hadn't seen it since I was a kid.
Most of the episodes are really good and really sad.
I'm intrigued that Network executives in the 60's thought that would be the type of show that WW2 and Korean Vets would want to watch.
M*A*SH, obviously, went in an entirely different direction.

Sopranos, for years was my favorite and is a classic series but it does have some slow and boring parts to it. BB is just a drag race to the end with no low points. Perfection with A+ acting throughout.

BB is excellent, but Sopranos is better imo. Give it a watch, you will love all of the characters.

Breaking Bad. I've never seen the show, but had an interesting experience with it last summer. The wife and I signed up for a service opportunity at a big Christian camp near Santa Fe. She spent her time slaving in a huge commercial kitchen and I drove camp passenger vans here and there. One day, I was giving a van load of international students a cultural exchange day. They just wanted to go to a big shopping mall in Albuquerque. Not my idea of cultural exchange, but whatever.

I'd heard a couple of the students discussing Breaking Bad and how much of the outdoor/location filming was done in Albuquerque. So, while waiting for them to emerge from the mall, I looked up BB filming locations on Google. Not too far from where we were was a car wash that played a big role in the series. So, when they all climbed back into the van with all their mall booty, I asked if they'd like to see the car wash from BB. I was met with stunned silence--wide eyes, open mouths, rapid nods. A few miles down the road the car wash started coming into view and the screaming started. They just went ape. I pulled into the parking lot and they piled out to take pictures. They hugged each other and danced around. One young man was actually crying tears. I've never seen so many selfies taken in a short period of time. Those college kids were very appreciative and thanked me continually. I guess that show is very popular in Mexico and I felt like a cool old man for taking them to that spot.

the one great thing about getting older and apparently losing my memory is I can do exactly this and watch shows I've seen several times and enjoy them as if I've never seen them. Been on an Eddie Murphy binge lately, watching 48 hours (1&2), Beverly Hills Cop (1, 2 & 3), still funny and entertaining, especially in light of the culture change from then to now

If you liked that, you should definitely go to the Los Pollos Hermanos restaurant. It’s actually a joint called Twisters and they serve burgers and mexican food. Not bad. A fun place to sit in and eat at.
