Started a thread a couple of days ago on the idea of moving T. Smith to LG and having 1st round rookie Tyler Smith start day 1.

https://cowboyszone.com/threads/what-do-you-think-of-moving-tyron-smith-to-left-guard.496906/

I was severely roasted by so many here that I had to take time away from this forum to let my feelings heal. It was brutal.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...back-tightness-newly-signed-wr-in-ankle-boot/

But just saw the news above that Smith is in a walking boot and experiencing tightness in his back at OTAs. Most likely this is just precautionary.

But what's the plan for oline if Smith misses games during the regular season?

Move Steele from RT to LT and Ball at RT?

That sounds more risky to me than having Tyler at LT and #77 at LG day 1.

What's the plan when Smith misses games?

In my opinion they have their eye on Vet tackles. They brought in Tevi before the draft and may call him up again later on.
Probably just wanting to get the younger tackles more snaps in practice to see if one shows something.
The rookie from North Dakota is a redshirt level talent IMO. Tyler Smith this early seems like risk.

While he wasn't good at it, wonder if Brandon Knight rights got dropped by the Ravens?

Tyler Smith may end up having to play LT if Tyron misses significant time during the season. The Cowboys have hopes for him being their future LT.

if this is the plan then they need to to give him significant snaps at LT in TC.

WR Washington is in the walking boot (strained tendon/tendonitis)

Tyron had tightness in his lower back which is considered minor.

His backup will be between Waletzko, Smith, or Ball at the moment but Steele is also a possibility with Ball at RT.

It won’t be significant snaps at LT unless Tyron is unable to practice. He’ll be taking significant snaps at the position he’ll be starting.

Can't figure out why a Vet has not been signed in free agency.
I guess they are hoping Ball can step up here ?

If the season were tomorrow ? I'd guess Matt Waletzko and Aviante Collins.
The camps and preseason means everything with development and preparation.

Another guess is Cowboys looking at the young bucks before scrambling to see what vet street FAs available at some
time this summer.

BTW, Whispers have it that (Bobby Belt, Broaddus ?) that the Cowboys staff don't seem to be pleased with Josh Ball right now.
Hope this is not accurate or it improves significantly Stay tuned.

Steele struggled at LT
This is not an optimal situation....

Yes Steele did struggle, yet Steele, with the one or two games at LT, he is the most experienced LT among the young guys we currently have here now
. - Yikes! ...just how scary is that ?

If Steele were to move to LT, than i'd suspect one such as Matt Waletzko would have to play RT.
