Bell seems 2 be favored over Wilson. But yeah, you are preaching to the choir. Wilson has been my guy. I luv his tenacity when healthy. Has a nose for turnovers. He brings some swag. Im just sayin, the staff seems to be favoring Bell.
Staff seems to favor Bell when he hasn’t even had one real practice and they didn’t even draft him? I think what you’re reading on Bell is classic early OTA chatter. This would be like saying Nahshon Wright was being favored over AB because of the pre-camp chatter.

Dude may very well be a baller but to expect coaches to like a UDFA rookie over an established 4th year player after 1 practice session with teammates is a bit unreasonable.

Now this is Donovan’s contract year so grooming Bell for next year makes complete sense. But expecting him to take over as a starter year one over a guy who’s been good is uncharacteristic of professional coaching staffs/FO’s.

For every great play that Hill makes penetrating into the backfield, you can find 5 where he gets absolutely smashed. I just don't like the player at all. It is easy to look good in shorts when you have quickness like he does....when the pads come on, that is when he gets pummeled. As it turns out, having Hill active for that 49er game over a guy like Bo was a huge mistake. Watch hill get pushed all over the field in that game and tell me Bo would have been pushed....

With Dlaw, Armstrong, Fowler, and Williams, that is good depth and investment in the DE position. I believe, knowing how the cowboys operate, they will value a guy like Golston who has position flex and that they drafted over a one-dimensional, unremarkable Basham. He will be a late cut barring injuries at the position, imo.

lol ..Not only would Bohanna have been pushed around, ..he'd either be flat on his back... ..or his face mask buried in the grass,.. with the action already quite passed him.
Quinton was the ultimate JAG, ..Just being 330 lbs, doesn't give Bohanna a free ride.

Without even played a single preseason game ? ... .Ridgeway making the 53 roster by default ?
yep. This front office has a history of not cutting draft picks. He is here, at least this year and will be on the 53.

360lbs.

So maybe he doesn't lead the team in tackles, but like i said, he wouldn't have been pushed all over the field like Hill was. I know you are in love with Hill's career-high .5 sacks in his 3rd year and all but give me a break.

RISCO – This time last season, Chauncey Golston was just entering his first moments in the NFL and preparing to make a leap into training camp. A leap that was hindered by a hamstring injury that limited his availability throughout the offseason as well as his production early in the regular season at the edge rusher spot.

Despite his lack of playing time early, his trajectory still pointed up as he made a significant impact both on special teams and in the defensive line rotation. This time around, during the first OTA practices, Golston is trending in a completely different direction - Inside.

Golston says he enters practice nearly 20-pounds heavier than his playing weight last season and took early snaps with both the edge rushers and interior defensive lineman. Even with the added weight, he appeared quick off the snap and was moving better than he ever did last season.

But why would he be working with a crowded room of defensive tackles with Neville Gallimore, Osa Odighizuwa, and Trysten Hill all in the fold?

Simply enough, it's a size mismatch.

Surprised he's added that much weight. That would put him around 290 based on his pre-draft weight. We may be looking at him more as a 5-tech in the base and interior pass rusher in the nickel if he's that size.

For a third round pick going into his second year, I hope that there is, in fact a ‘plan’ for him, and a place where he fits.

I think this was always part of the plan. We didn't draft him to be a 4-3 end. We drafted him as a lengthy defender to grow and be part of the "three-man" line in our pseudo-3-4 and interior pass rusher. Those spots better suit his skills because he's a good run player with average quickness. With the added weight, he can handle the one-on-one blocks inside (against the run), while the NT occupies the center and hopefully a guard ... but I'm not sure we have an NT good enough to force that. double.

Not for a 3rd round DE. Usually by that point in the draft any legit edge rusher is gone and you are getting jags. Thats why I wasnt a fan of the pick, you are basically boxing yourself into a 2 down utility player. At that point there are still impact players at other positions to be had
Give the man a chance. And Armstrong was a 4th rounder and got a nice chunk of change

there is 0 chance. A team will quickly poach him from the PS if we do that.
It’s possible
That’s the risk you take with PS
I think he’s a better prospect than Bo was coming out. Bo has a full season and off season under his belt which should make him a better player but ridgeway is a really good run stuffer and he will give him a run for his money

FYI, It's spelled Golston. lol

I personally can't believe Ridgeway is a bubble guy. I get that he was only a late 5th rd pick, but the guy is nasty and they are acting like they want a lot more nasty this year. At this point I don't think you can say Golston is anything but a bubble guy. Regardless of his circumstances. Especially if he isn't going to give you anything as a DE. I don't see him being a better DE than D-Law, Fowler, Armstrong, Williams. Watkins maybe on the bubble, and Golston maybe the guy to kick him off the team, but as of now I don't see that.
And I highly doubt he can beat out Gallimore, Odiggy, Hill, Bohanna and Ridgeway for a DT spot. Again, possibly Watkins, but don't write Watkins off just yet. He's a solid vet who had a good year last season. Basham maybe the odd man out but again, if Golston is bumping down inside, Basham isn't really his competition.
Hey maybe we're both right and they keep 11 not 10.
Congrats. You defeated my phones autocorrect. I applaud you.

Golston was a rookie last season and your talking as if he’s heading into the final year of his rookie contract and has yet to show us anything. Funny enough you keep putting a player that is on the final year of his contract and actually is a massive disappointment in Hill ahead of Golston. You may not be a fan of Golston or may think he was a massive reach last year (which I feel he was), but he’s not going anywhere for at least another season. Like I said he was a DQ pick and he checks off what Quinn looks for in a d lineman. Long arms, huge hands, massive wingspan, and a wrestling background. Quinn is not going to give up on him after 1 season if he thinks he can develop him into the player he wants.

I know it’s a joke on here at this point but the phrase “we like our guys” really is this teams motto. Golston is not competing for a spot with Watkins, Basham, or Hill. He will make it over all 3 of them.

Doubt we keep more then 10 dlinemen with Parsons able to rush at DE if needed. We might keep an extra LB or hybrid SS/LB instead

What a garbage 3rd round of 2021. Three picks and came away with next to nothing.

Which is odd considering we all the time constantly draft well.

In fact, they said he slimmed up this off-season.

One sack and 4 quarterback hits last season. Most likely he will be embracing a new career.

In the eyes of the beholder I guess
As I thought osa had a productive rookie year as 3rd rounder.
And you're drafting guys for the long term not just one lone rookie year.

You know me, any mention of Crawford just brings back bad memories of a failed experiment.

And it gives me the impression of strictly a role player rather than a starter. I would expect more of a 3rd round draft investment.
Crawford would've been remembered as a very nice rotational player if we hadn't grossly and stupidly overpaid him.

I'm more focused on who can go out and win the job. If that is Golston great if not then so be it but at the end of camp I hope to see the best making the final cuts.
I am hoping that the size increases in both the offensive and defensive linemen means more brute strength, aggression, and elevated/integrated play. Depth is improving at the least...

Right...but he wasn't 320 last year. He measured 360 at the combine...at least that is what NFL.com had him at. Probably around 330 this year i would guess.

He'll be happy (and lucky) to be embracing any role on this team. He's a fringe player who is in a fight to be one of the (most likely only) 10 D-lineman they keep. The spots are filling up quickly and he needs to fight like he's 3rd in line for the arc and it's starting to rain. There are already at least 8 spots locked in and he isn't one of them:
Dlaw, Gallimore, Odiggy, Fowler, Armstrong, Ridgeway, Watkins, Williams

Basham, Hill, Bohanna and Golston are fighting for the last 2 spots.

Wasted draft pick. Anae is going to show they cut the wrong guy.
