My one and only (;)) complete miss on a player is Matt Ryan. I didn't think he would be good at all in the NFL.

Missed on that one.

Peyton Manning, I thought he was overrated and Ryan Leaf was going to be a Super Star.

With it being the off-season, I thought it would be fun to give everyone a chance to share and own on of their mistakes in thinking a player was not going to be very good but they turned out to be great.

*** Rules of the Thread ***
  • It can be any current or former NFL player for any NFL team
  • Only post a player who was much BETTER than you expected (not worse)
  • You must NOT in any way say you were "right" or "not wrong" about anything

*** READ THIS -- The purpose of this thread is to .. without any disclaimers, exceptions or justification .. admit you were wrong about a player you thought would not be good that turned out to be great.
Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, DeAndre Hopkins, Alvin Kamara, AJ Terrell

Well, at least no one has said Rowdy. :lmao:

LaDainlian Tomlinson, I just thought he would not make the transition and last long as a NFL RB. I thought he would be ok, the typical 3 or 4 year career, but not like he ended up being.

As for a Cowboys player, Mark Stepnoski. I thought he was a little small to take the punishment long term.

Derrick Henry. I am a fan of running backs and I thought he'd be no better than a change of pace mauler. I didn't think he'd be bad but not anywhere near the player he has become.

I will start it off with .. Derrick Henry

When he entered the draft out of Alabama I thought he was an average running back that was only drafted high because he played for Alabama.

Henry has turned out to be faster and stronger than I thought he was going to be and makes a huge impact on the outcome of games.
I responded before reading any other posts. I had a feeling I'd see this name a bit lol.

Troy Aikman. I didn't think much of him coming out of college and thought the Cowboys took Walsh in the supplemental because they knew Aikman wasn't going to likely pan out.

Travis Fredrick comes to mind.
Easily Travis for our team.

For the NFL, I will say Drew Brees. He didn’t show much in a bad conservative offense at San Diego and I thought they made the right move going with a cheaper and younger Rivers especially after Brees injury in the finale.

Didn’t know that Brees could sling the ball like how he did in NO and even though both SD and NO got better, NO stayed great for a longer period of time.

I thought the Rams trading for Staford was bad. I didn’t think he was going to do much better than Goff.

Wow!... You got it in one. I really couldn't think of one and then you reminded me of him. I thought he was not shifty enough and he wasn't going to be able to outrun NFL defenders.

Eli Manning. Never thought his reading of the game and other skills would overcome his limited throwing ability.
