Let us give credit where credit is due. Jerruh and Stevo, may not know a lick about football but they do know marketing, hype and accreting corporate value.

Have you noticed, as have I, who has a Google search and identify recent stories in periodicals, blogs, youtubes that mention our beloved Dallas Cowboys, the self-proclaimed, "America's Team" that has not won a significant play off game since 1995-96. That is a very long time. In that period, J & S have provide to us, the fans, a middle of the road, lackluster, and one can even say mediocre product.

However, due to fine marketing and promotion, the Dallas Cowboys have not suffered any corporate deficit. The organization makes a lot of money and this year the franchise Jerruh bought for about $150 million is now worth $5 billion!!! That is a nice return on the invested dollar, wouldn't you say.

Now that we are in the lull between the draft and training camp, my inbox is flooded with articles about how great our draft choices are, how our second year players are going to make a big jump in performance, rumors about possible trades, etc. None of that is news. Those in the news business know that if there is no news, you run features. These are all features. Puff pieces intended to keep our attention and promise that the results of the last 25 years are in the rear view mirror and that all is well in Cowboys nation. Our return to prominence as a first grade franchise is on the horizon. Hang in there, pay the increased ticket costs, buy the merchandise at increased prices, buy tours of Jerruh World, buy beers at the stadium for $12, etc., etc, etc.

I bought into this for many, many years. But now they are over. I am now from Missouri. Show me, is my new mantra. I am not buying any tickets, beers, caps, jerseys or anything with a Cowboys logo. Nope, Jerruh, you ain't getting any of my hard earned Benjamins, until your mediocre product improves.

Oh yes, I will watch and root and read newspaper stories during the season, but that is all you get, Jerruh.
You are not getting any of my money directly from me. I am sorry to say that there is plenty of my money going to Jerruh from my purchases of advertised product on their games and even from just watching the NFL. I consider that a small price to pay to watch my favorite sport on TV.

My good friends, what are you doing to send Jerruh the message that crappy records do not cut it with us?

Since I couldn't find how to post a "Master of the Obvious" meme, I'm asking "uhm, ok?“

Sorry, but you could have written 2+2=4 or something and would have saved a lot of time. ;)

That was a mind blasting post that I couldnt handle completely but from what I gathered that you are not pleased but have no way figured out how you would have engineered this roster and current cap situation.
This team has bullets available should the right FA drop, and there will be more than a couple this FA period, just saying that all those complaining about not spending/over spending might feel a bit better if the "right" FA is signed.
Im not even sure Wich direction that will come from, as others have noted and I endorse as well is RB,, there are several surprisingly once highly drafted RBs just floating around, still young,,, Kerryon Johnson for starters.
JUst talking about already available street FAs, the market will be interesting soon.

I am handling the same way you are.
Not buying any merchandise.
Just watching the games.
If not for hanging out with you guys and gals
Here on the zone my interest would be a lot less than it would be otherwise

So, Mrs. Jones, you feel like we are one free agent running back away from returning to Super Bowl glory? Willing to forget all we learned in the last quarter century and banking on the front office delivering a first class component to Zeke and Pollard.

Lmao. Hater.
I have been a lover longer than you have been around, youngster. Calling names is the least effective way to debate a point. If you are satisfied rooting for mediocrity you are the perfect target for Jerry and Stephen. Congratulations, you are officially a Chump.

Thanks for calling me a youngster, didn't realize it came across in my words. Guess I can take my diaper off now. i'm good with chump too. Carry on Queen Elizabeth.

I'm just having a little fun old school. I had just read a few earlier post about calling people homers or haters or whatever. None of that stuff bothers me in the least. You just were passing by and made a Anti-Americas Team comment. Nothing personal. I do it daily.

Even during the days when they won, it was always marketing.

As fans, we have to be realistic in two regards. This'll help you not bank your happiness on the success of the team.

I, for one, have never done that. Therefore, even during the bad years, I can still appreciate aspects of our team.

It isn't always about winning.

The odds are severely stacked against you winning.

The building process is part of being a fan.

For me, I think the worst moment I had to endure as a fan was holding on to Emmitt Smith for too long so he could get the record. I look at how Andre Reed retired and he just wasn't happy about those last four passes being thrown to him the way they were — just so he could get the 2nd place record. He wanted to earn them, because he knew that was a cheap way to sell tickets, and really had nothing to do with football, or his talent level. It was just . . . getting the record. That gets to the marketing thing you're speaking about, OP.

When that's all it is, and you can see it, that really sucks. But I'm not stupid. I also realize we have a 1 in 32 chance of winning every season. The odds aren't with you.

So, to have three in four years was quite the ride as a fan. And we have to admit that. But I still root every year, just so we can win. Since Emmitt's last year, I can't remember a year when I was just extremely disappointed the so-called product, i.e, that we see on the field.

I know we haven't always been the best. But it seems like each year we at least come to compete and I have enjoyed that part about being a Cowboys fan. There was a short time when we didn't have much of an identity between, Aikman, Carter, Romo.. But we finally got there, thanks to QC being sort of the catalyst that brought on the search for a QB.. and then there was Romo, behind Drew Bledsoe.. It was just serendipity, sort of, but he was just this smiling kid from Illinois/Missouri areas, who had something to prove, and the tools to do it.

For me, that's been a fun part of being a fan in the down years, and I have to say Dak also gives me that same comfort, that we'll at least have a good regular season.

I think we got spoiled and won too much during the time we won, and now we're paying for it, sort of. But I also think we're due.

I believe in what Mike McCarthy is doing out there, and I think it all comes together with Dan Quinn. So history aside, I'm still here, I'm still as much of a fan as I was in 1995. But I do want to win, because I think these teams we're fielding have everything you need, everything you're going to get in this league, to win the Super Bowl.

The only thing we're missing is that perfect coach. But we've got some guys who I think can put something together. If not, then I clean house, and get these guys some new coaches in 2023. Seems to be the Cowboy way. The marketing machine of the Dallas Cowboys will never slow down.

You're either along for the ride, or you're not. The odds are never with us. No matter how talented we are. That's why it's easy to sit here and be negative. You almost always win being negative. Saying, see, I told you so.31, of 32 times, you win doing that.

Mathematically, it's difficult to be positive, and stay positive, and really know when you do have a shot, because even when you're the best team, the odds are still stacked against you.

That's the reality of this league. Not many get what that actually means. But some of us do, and we still maintain a way to find the good things the team is doing. That's all any team can do. Every year, only 1 team wins.

I can't remember the last time the Cowboys made me feel ashamed for being positive about them. Even though I wasn't 100% right in the end, for being positive.

Anyway, just something to think about. The success of this team only has so much impact on my happiness in life. It only has as much as you let it, like anything else.

I also don't see each year we don't win the Super Bowl as a failure. Last year was a success, and I'm going to continue seeing it that way until I'm proven otherwise. It's something we can build on going into this year. The Cowboys have kept their main pieces in tact.. and we're going to get it done in the regular season this year, just like we got it done last year.

It'll be the post season that counts.

hard core fans, watch and suffer....we can't help ourselves.....some fans likes us are frustrated. but this marketing machine is attacking the fringe fans.those who want the merchandise and game day experience and go oh well. they don't know the history, nor care. the hardcore fans will always stay no matter what. we yell. we complain. but we watch....perhaps some of us stop buying the merchandise, but those fringe fans buy, watch and prove the marketing machine is working. you and I are not the target of the marketing machine.

To say that they don't know a lot about football is just totally ignorant on your part.

The marketing savvy is actually Booger, Booger Jr. and Charlotte. His oldest son is a chip off the old block with the actual football part of it.

I haven't spent a dime with the organization since he bought it and he could care less. He is bulletproof.
