I was born in 1992, so I don’t have many memories of Cowboys greatness

Fortunately, you can find recordings of those teams, but without the emotional ties, it might not mean much. The NFL Films documentaries on the Cowboys might give you a better sense of what we longtime fans experienced.

This is the one where they were crowned America's Team:

so jerry has been selling you hope, that this is the year, for 22 years lol.
he does a good job with the sell hope formula. It works and your living proof.

I used to buy it but lost that hope and desire during the JG decade, JG just deflated me.

You got to see the whole romo era, which was fun to watch at least. I enjoyed the romo years, not so much with dak.
tony was way more fun to watch than dak. I dont really care he didnt win the big games, those were team losses, and tony
was always fun to watch during the seasons.

As for that record, if you look at other teams, you will probably see something similar or worse, except for the patriots and GB.

Dallas has had a bunch of ok seasons, they just have done poorly in the playoffs.
Compile their playoff record for that same period, and it wont be good lol.

I enjoyed Romo, and I also do like watching Dak.

The Cowboys regular season and postseason record is 182-177 as I've calculated. I went through every year of that, and yes, that is apparently our record.

Just thought it was an interesting thought.

Counting 2000, regular and post season record is 189 - 175. So, not too far off. But this looks a little better. :)

We went (including the playoffs) 5-11 in 2000, 5-11 in 2001, 5-11 in 2002, 10-7 (lost to the Panthers in the WC) in 2003, 6-10 in 2004, 9-7 in 2005, 9-8 (lost to the Seahawks in the WC) in 2006, 13-4 (lost to the Giants in the divisional round) in 2007, 9-7 in 2008, 12-6 (beat the Eagles in the WC and lost to the Vikings in the DR) in 2009, 6-10 in 2010, 8-8 in 2011, 8-8 in 2012, 8-8 in 2013, 13-5 (Beat the Lions in the WC and lost to the Packers in the DR) in 2014, 4-12 in 2015, 13-4 (lost to the Packers in 2016), 9-7 in 2017, 11-7 (Beat the Seahawks in WC and lost to Rams in DR) in 2018, 8-8 in 2019, 6-10 in 2020, and 12-6 in 2021. Ah yes! My mistake. It is 189-175.

I literally went year by year and counted it twice. Partially because I'm bored, but primarily because I love doing it.

Edit. Crap, I posted this before reading your last line. :))

Pretty much
theres no such thing as "pretty much stat" because you created a false very emotional narrative and someone believed it lol..its not true they are nowhere close to bottom 5 in the RS they are actual stats that will show they are close to the middle in win%..
you can cherry pick all you want but if you n=knew how to even search goggle style, its easy to see the egg on your face.

11th in win% the actual win loss record doesn't matter they are WAY ABOVE AVERGE in regular season wins given 32 teams. that even with the trying to omit the all-time records are jerrys records which all time we are the top regular season winning team all time.. jerry teams are top 5 all time..but hey 2000 lets do it
https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/most-wins-by-a-nfl-team-since-2000

its so comedic you would try and count instead of doing some basic searching..

KC is only 1 spot ahead of us even after this big run they are on..

the playoffs yes disappointing but RS we are an above average team.
186 -167 is the RS record btu that doesnt mater when compared to other teams..that all that matters..

even more 2016-present Dak era we move d up spot top 10 in wins..

show me bottom five,
bottom 10,

average(16) NOPE WRONG

that 11th in wins since 2000 and 10th since 2016 its why the DC remain relative because they do at least win in the regular season. they still get the most prime time games etc biggest viewership etc
fans keep acting as if we are the browns a jets and Detroit and that nonsense, please you are not fans of toyu think that,,..

next narrative to bust with facts.. im real fan im willing to wait out this drought for another title many teams have had worse and got back,..

I feel most awful for the fans that started post second Dynasty.

Can't even imagine it.

The memories of the old days are even starting to stop sustaining me.
Most young fans cannot fathom the unbelievable dominance this team had from 1970-82- in those13 seasons, (with 3 different starting QBs) the Cowboys won 19 playoff games, won 5 NFC championships and two SBs. We’ve won 3 WC games since 2000…in the era of “parity”.

I'm a big supporter of Dak, and I was a big supporter of Romo. I think I've made that clear. Also, I did have a calculation error that was pointed out in which we actually since 2000 are 189-175. I just thought this was an interesting stat that I didn't know until I was talking to one of my roommates (Who's a Chiefs fan). I then decided to do that calculation, and thought it'd make an interesting thread. Mind you, I've never seen us get beyond the division round. I hope we do this year.

no using he RS only is how you do it,,

186 -167 its all there in the link, all i care about is last year 12-5 and this year lets put b2b good seasons together to shut fans up!

well i get ti they are on run but still even so barely ahead of us since 2016 or 2000 in RS wins.

Yes we want more post season success, not dismissing those facts but the record when used in comparison not on its own is way about average ie top 11 since 2000 and top 10 since 2016..

Been around to see all the SB victories. Can't imagine sticking with this team through the 00s with nothing to show for it.

yet he uses 2000 as starting point yet the rams, 9ers and bucs are about 20 games below 500 for thats era..he might as well used playoffs only because we are top 10-11 team since 2000 in wins..facts are easy to find narratives like this easier to bust.. this is why you dont go back that far

2016 for Daks era is as far as i like to go new players and coaches, so much turnover its not smart to use those long peiods ..we are top 10 in wins since 2016..its the payoff lack of sucess that the issue but we sill have large falling because we do win..
Rams since 2000 166 -186 lo 9ers and bucs worse.

the stupid posts on bottom 5 are clueless hater troll fans Bases..not real fans because i know we are winning just not the big ones.KC has only won 12more games then us in the same periods.

I do not think a .500 record over 21 years puts them in the bottom 5.

They rank 11th in wins over that 21 year span.
facts i posted within this thread top 11 top 10 since 2016 i mean rams 9ers and bucs all 20 games under LOL this thread died when no comps were used to judge and then fans go and keep calling us bottom 5 so far from the truth when actual comps are used..KC only 12 wins more over same period.

Bob, I hate to ever correct you, so let me just add this: the Cowboys were a very dominate team from the mid-60's. They lost the two Ice Bowls in the 60's

who cares about regular season when it has gotten us one of the worst playoff records of this century?

This franchise is fools gold.

he chose 2000 because that's when he became a fan lol. it's not arbitrary. And bottom five was clearly hyperbole. The takeaway is that he's been a fan for over 20 years and has none of the memories we do. relax
