When is Jimmy getting in the ring of Honor

Its sad that time hasnt healed the rift between them. Normally 2 guys of their vintage would love to sit around reminiscing about when they had the best football team ever - even if they hated each other at the time. There'll soon come a time when it won't be possible due to one of them being gone.

Jimmy definitely should be in that ring of honor. Should have been there years ago. Jimmy did a great job HELPING to build those superbowl teams, but its hilarious how people exaggerate it like it was ALL Jimmy. Give Jerry his credit as well.

I say that because if it was all Jimmy's doing solely, he would have built another championship team in Miami, but he didn't. So if he placed a curse on Dallas, he placed a curse on himself as well.
2 things, different situation in miami, and he retired before he could finish building the team.
and if jimmy hadnt retired he would have made miami a SB winner.
his mom died, and he realized he was not spending enough time with people he loved, so he retired.

he already had a decent defense built, and was working on the offense when she died.

Ya I’ll give ya 1000 likes if I could . I care bout jimmy but it’s small potatoes comparatively . I would get benched if I went off on how I feel about current conditions in country so I won’t

Maybe after Booger goes toes up and his son inducts him.

Johnson made it to the HOF and based on football accomplishments, the ROH is unnecessary because every fan knows he was kept out by a childish and vindictive egomaniac.

Jimmy is the only Cowboys member of the HOF that’s not yet in the ROH. Well, technically there’s two- Jerry isn't officially in but we all know that’s happening.

IMO, Jerry is going to put Jimmy in…I just think he wants to delay it as long as he possibly can. And every day he waits, he looks more and more petty.
More and more petty to some here, in the real world no one thinks about this at all.

Its not easy to build one side of the ball to catch up to the other side of the ball under the Free Agency era, so there's no guarantee he would have built a successful championship team.

Jerry will never allow it. Hes an idiot. Worse is hes an idiot with a bigger ego

Despite what Jerry said when Jimmy was inducted into the HOF, actions speak louder than words.

I agree that he will not do it while he is still alive. This will only happen with the Jones kids unless something big changes in Jerry's life.

Say, winning a SuperBowl without Jimmy. Then he might be willing to put the sword down, and give Jimmy his due because he can put down his own cross that he has been carrying for decades.

Jimmy could care less now....he is in the NFL Hall of Fame which legitimizes what he did and i feel that is what he really wanted. He knows how petty and egotistical Jerry is and where he can stick his ROH crap. Every team has a ring of honor and no one really cares or knows who is in there. But only one HOF, and he will always be introduced as such.

Jerry already said Jimmy would be going in, they literally talked about on National TV.
Going in but he didn’t say when, it’s going to happen most likely after Jimmy has passed, then Jerry can spin how he (Jerry) built those teams.

The league has already recognized Jimmy for his accomplishments in Dallas with a gold jacket which is a much bigger honor. Jerry is a petty fool and will take "the grudge" to the grave with him.

August 5, 2021: I think we've got some great days ahead of us. We are going to certainly be recognizing what's happening here with the Hall of Fame, but Tex Schramm, who started that Ring of Honor, he said, 'Jerry, keep it kind of limited with people, but make sure it wasn't just about the plays they made. Make sure they contributed to the story of the franchise.' Now, it's kind of hard not to recognize [Johnson's] contribution to the story of the franchise."

September 24, 2021: "The one thing we did not want to do is any way is take away from this great recognition of going in the NFL Hall of Fame. We’ll get to the other stuff relative to the Ring of Honor later on. ... We can do both."

One month, he did not say when it would happen.

Nearly two months later, he explained it had not happened yet because making it happen would somehow diminish Johnson going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

A full season passed and it did not happen.

Over ten months lapsed and he has not said when it will happen. No announcement. No hint. No tease. Nothing.

A reminder. Jerry Jones is the Dallas Cowboys' owner, president and general manager. There is nothing humanly possible act he cannot do. And he can do practically anything within his power...

an

instant.

Some of y'all keep thinking it is simply a case of a guy having a big ego--in a world that has always been filled with people with huge egos, who say what they mean and ACT upon what they say every day.

The thread question's answer?

Jerry Jones will induct Jimmy Johnson into the franchise's Ring of Honor either:
  • after he feels emotionally and psychologically pressured into doing so OR
  • never
Keep believing what really motivates him to act atypically. That square keg will fit through that round hole.

Eventually.

To be fair, I think he's right, not so much that it would diminish his enshrinement into the HoF, but rather his HoF induction would have diminished his RoH enshrinement. Better to separate to two by a year or so.

That said, it should have been done long before the HoF.

Okay. Johnson was enshrined on August 8 last year.

Let's put a pin on the calendar for August 8 of this year. Everyone will see, including me, what official announcement(s) are made.

An extra pin can be stuck in August 8, 2023. Just in case two years are better than one.

One thing is certain. Jones has ALL the time in the world to make it happen. He will outlive us all. lol.

Don't get me wrong, I don't see it happening until after Jerry wins SB without Jimmy...but hopes springs eternal, like Jerry's liver.

Thing is, people in all professions receive multiple career accolades all the time--often within short order. I do not agree with any need to insert any specific time buffer between such achievements. Everyone associated with sports will acknowledge Johnson as a Hall of Famer. Likewise, anyone associated with the Cowboys will recognize Johnson as a Ring of Honor member when he is inducted. Alive or dead.

Neither honor will take away the other. In fact, I would argue both will enhance the other.

Johnson himself asked when will it happen. Even the actual person, who would receive the honor, does not understand the necessity to wait. Why should anyone else?

Ok we have not won a super bowl since that last year with Switzer, and we know Jimmy was a architect of that team. Since Jimmy left we have missed the superbowl or deep playoff run every year (*Switzer year). I think Jimmy put a curse on the team since Jerry would not put him in the ROH and acknowledge that he was the reason we won those 3 superbowls in those years.

So how can we get Jerry to break the curse and let Jimmy in the Ring.
I could care less, It’s not gonna help us win football games. It’s a Sideshow, that I don’t care about
