I know. You'd rather downgrade than Dak.
We get it big boy.

So your lone example is a wild card game in which the Steelers turned to ball over FIVE TIMES, four by Big Ben, giving the Browns great field position, an overwhelming lead and smooth sailing throughout the remainder of that game?
Oh, and Dak ALMOST beat the Chiefs and the 49ers too. ;)

You do know that in 2020 the Cowboys had their worst defense EVER!? Heck, Joe Namath could have suited up and thrown six touchdown passes against that defense. Sorry, base, but that aerial display by Baker isn't a great example. EVERYBODY scored against the Cowboys defense - at will and in droves.:(

I'm not going to even argue this point. Baker isn't coming here. Dak is Jerry's quarterback. He's not going to have Dak looking over his shoulder (not that Dak should be scared of Baker). That's likely why Cam Newton wasn't signed, and why we're not going to bring in a quarterback who could disrupt the chemistry of this team or Dak's relationship with his teammates, his offensive coordinator and the front office.
It just aint happening.
do you want me to list for you the games dak looked abysmal ?? or his 23% awful winning record against good teams ? . Dak enjoyed playing at the worst division in the NFL . Baker at one of the strongest. You just watch the coming season. Splitting hairs won't work. Dak's failures are all over his mediocre record. After getting paid 42 mil a year , and the defense playing much better last season, and after 6 years the parade of excuses has to end for dak.

This is a bad thread. I hope most have figured that out already.

The OP is a legit question if it was plausible. It isn't. Everyone has their opinions in regards to quarterbacks, and lets face it, it's not like Dak will be wearing a gold jacket in his lifetime. Me personally, I'm not crazy about that runt Baker.

I didn’t say I completely trust Dak. He has some issues. But any honest view comparing Dak to Baker Mayfield would make it clear Dak is better. Mayfield is ok at best. His accuracy, interception to TD ratio, not to mention leadership is well below Dak. Saying “Baker beat Dak face to face” implies some kind of boxing match or poker game. Last I checked, football is a team game.

I have seen Mayfield play since he was a high school player at Lake Travis HS near Austin. He was an excellent HS QB. Saw him play several games at Texas Tech his freshman yr and he was very good. But when he got hurt and had to compete to win back his job back, he got mad and quit. But Tech fans all knew he would have lost his starting job anyway. There was this other QB…a guy named Mahomes who was up and coming.

Mayfield quit and went to OU. Where he again won the starting job and was good. But instead of acting like a leader he grabbed his crotch on national tv taunting opponents, planted a flag at midfield in Columbus (later got beat by Ohio State when it mattered more) and talked big trash to opponents like Kansas whose roster was not made up of 30 NFL players like the OU roster he was on. He was not a leader.

Baker Mayfield is an ok NFL QB as his stats show. He’s not in the same category as Dak. If it’s your opinion that Mayfield is better than Dak, you are certainly entitled to your opinion. But the facts say otherwise. And apparently a bunch of NFL teams who could really use an upgrade at QB are collectively saying “no thanks.”
baker player at one of the best division in football ,. while dak enjoyed playing at the weakest. This explains the stats comparison.
dak would not look good in the stats category in the AFC North. It is a different animal.
baker had his ups and downs and injuries. he is not elite nor is dak.
By the way i looked up the game you mention Baker planted the flat at Ohio State. OU won that game big time and he played excellent at "the shoe". not many teams or QBs play well against Ohio State at their home.

Neither of them are what you want, but Dak is the better of the two.

Let's put this point blank: There is no savior in your situation.

I like a measured approach.
Care to give words upon his premise?
Dak has to show up big time this coming season . the excuses have to end , won't you agree. If Dak is going to be compared to Stafford , he has to at least take the cowboys to the CCG and win playoff games home and away. Some staunch dak supporters are starting to doubt he is the answer , as the silent majority rule takes hold. but they don't see jerry making any forward looking decisions or being pragmatic. Jerry picked dak and zeke and will fall on his sword with them.

you are probably right. i wish we had a front office with much more creativity and astute roster decisions . we don't . 26 years and counting for the most valuable sports franchise on earth.

I don't know about not no any of them there silent majorities and that there stuff, but I do agree:
Dak needs to step it up for a full season and show that he is the right captain of this ship, or it's definitely time to turn the boat around and reload with a better shipment of goods built around the gold Micah bullion while money spent in more efficient areas.

I believe baker at a reasonable 15-20 million contract will be a far better option for the cowboys in the next 4-6 years than Dak .
Mayfield can ignite this offense and make better use of the receivers and OL we have .
Not to mention that dak has become injury prone, and has wild inconsistencies and slumps during the season.

I would bc Dak has done nothing prove he's the long term answer

Yeah, if the 49ers want to be relevant, Garoppolo has to start. Unfortunately for them.
They are in a great and tough position
They are a really good football team that was one dropped int from the super bowl
But they have a QB they have to run a particular offense with because that’s what he’s good at. They’d love to upgrade him but 10 other teams would like to upgrade their QB too. They used a pick on a QB they obviously thought could give them a guy who would give them more options in an offense but he’s not an elite prospects so changing is risky
Fortunately for them jimmy is a pro who isn’t gonna make waves no matter what they do
One of the toughest positions to be in is having a SB quality team but not having a SB quality QB because it’s the hardest position to find, there aren’t many of them and teams don’t let them go often. And when they do it’s expensive to get them
If they could keep that team together around him then he can win them a lot of games and there are worse starters in the nfl. But there are also half a dozen QB’s if not more that could give them a better chance to win a SB, they just aren’t available

Mayfield not nearly anywhere as good as Dak or Mac Jones for that matter. Geez!

I knew OU won that game at Columbus. I was wrong thinking the buckeyes beat them later in the CFB playoff but it was Georgia instead. My mistake.

Btw, the Dak vs Mayfield matchup where cle won in 2020…Dak was 41-58, 502 YDS, 4 TD, 1 INT. Mayfield was 19-30-165, 2 TD. The browns ground game killed the Cowboys not Mayfield. Cowboys gave up over 300 yds rushing and 2 fumbles, one by Zeke.

Even if I thought they were similar players talent-wise, I still wouldn't want Mayfield. He's injury-prone and a crybaby. Quarterback is the last position on the team you want a crybaby at, can't believe the Browns didn't catch that during pre-draft interviews.

Dak is significantly better than Baker, and regardless of how you feel about his skill pretty much everyone agrees Dak is good teammate and leader of men. Baker is neither of those things.
