If Schultz holds out mini-camp and gets fined, do we gain cap relief?

We have a bonified starter
We use 2 starting tes. It doesn't matter how good your best te is. It's how good the core is when you're using 12 personnel on 50% of snaps

#82 never played w a Bonafide #2 starting te. If there had been 2 of him instead of a dud we may have won some playoff games

Shultz is a top5 TE far from a dud

If Schultz holds out mini-camp (and potentially games) and gets fined , do we gain CAP relief, or is the CAP worked out purely on the original contract?
Even if it reverted back to the cap, it’s such a insignificant amount in the grand scheme of things that it would be irrelevant. Doubt it would cover the toilet paper expenditure for the month at the facility!

How? Explain how? How high do you think they would've taken. tight end?
If you watched the draft and understand what happened with the tight ends you would understand. There is no way that they would have been able to get the players that they got and an upgrade at tight end. You do understand that if they lost Dalton, they would have needed 2 tight ends? The Cowboys weren't stupid. They signed Dalton to the tag and drafted Ferguson and the other players that they got in the draft.

I'm talking about having 2 good tes at one time. To run the 12 personnell

We can't beat anybody using Schultz and (McKeon or Sprinkle) Pigs will fly first.

Last year we scored 12 tds at te.

That's the best year we've had in a decade and it still wasn't playoff worthy for a home playoff game

This te core might get 8 tds max this year

That's not a winning formula.

Schultz is pretty good but far from #5 imo.

How does Sprinkle and McKeon rank as a Starting te???? Let's talk about the other starter

I think Jarwin was a 10x better receiver and way better blocker than our backups- If ya want to call them backups. Lol They wouldn't even make a good practice squad.

We couldn't run the ball very well once Jarwin got hurt.

Now add losing Cooper Gallop and Wilson..

If you're looking for Schultz to win the game for ya for 15 million on a checkdown pass I wouldn't get my hopes up js

I saw the draft.....and I'm telling you right now they were not taking a tight end over Sam Williams or over Tyler Smith. So you are confusing me saying it would've effected their draft.

I don't know why y'all value TE as much as you do but most teams in this league either use a JAG at that spot or a player that's been around the league. Nobody panics and franchise the Schultz of the world.

Yep you are confused alright. They did what they did and I'm glad. They would have been sweating bullets if they would have lost Dalton and went into the draft without him.

they coulda grabbed any te at the end of the 2nd round. And we sat there and watched Woods go by to Indy.

He's prolly way better than Schultz is right now imo.

How can you let a te get by that scores a Td every 5.5 catches and kills it at the combine.

I betcha he plays out better than Ferguson by a way bigger margin.

I woulda grabbed Woods and then a couple in fa Gronk, Cook, Rudolph, oj Howard, Graham, Alie-Cox, Engram, Hayden Hurst. Etc etc etc

If I'm paying a te 15 million he's gonna have to have a higher Ceiling outside our division.

I just like better duos that what we have. Guys that can draw top cover guys and double teams.

I don't like the little checkdown scheme. I think it's trash.

Id rather use an eligible ol at te than Mckeon and Sprinkle

They're just one dimensional blockers and not even good enough blockers to consider using for our 12 personell scheme.

Better change up the old scheme until we get 2 Bonafide tes.

I highly doubt it. If they thought of him as highly as you do he’d have a contract by now.

Ah.... so pay the qb 40 million and then bash players like Schultz because he is just a dump off guy?? got it.

And who is "Arguing?" IM just asking you to show me the data that would make your claims have some credibility. I try to be able to do that with what I say.
Never bashed him for that....and no it wasn't an argument, I just didn't want it to go there is what I meant. My bad for not being clear.

I certainly bashed him for being an awful run blocker, and there's no data to support that.

He is fairly easily replaceable is my only point. He isnt elite and thats clear. We should aspire to spend that money elsewhere. He has nice catch numbers but how many of those wouldn't have been caught by a replacement? Most of the dump offs would have.

I like Prescott and am happy we have him. He does have his shortcomings though, and part of that is checking down, and quickly and conservatively if his first read isn't wide open.

And there is definitely at least a small consideration that has to be given to Schultz benefitting from DCs having to worry about guys named Cooper, Lamb and Gallup much more than him. That took a hit as well.

He isnt terrible, and he has gotten better yearly. I fully understand why they tagged him for now, but he isnt someone who should be commanding top cap dollars considering all.

Peace.
