Garrett or McCarthy?

Please state why.

I'm going to roll with McCarthy because I do feel unlike Garrett, we are pretty proactive with the way we teams play us and most times, we have a solid plan. With the Garret regime, it felt as though, the plan sucked and we were hoping for our qb to pull off a miracle. Additionally, I think McCarthy do a better job at adjusting to the game than Garrett. Garrett had a tendency of banging his head against the wall, come hell or high water.

Gailey had more fire.

McCarthy but Garrett was admittingly more inspiring.
The strangest thing about Garrett I think was seeing his teams consistently play hard, yet they still managed to play down to lesser opponents. They also beat the unbeatable teams more often than not. Weird 10 years. Glad it's over.

McCarthy and it’s not really even close.

McCarthy, despite everything wrong he does, is a Super Bowl winning coach with a good record. His offenses going back to the early 2000s even with mediocre Saints and Chiefs teams always put up decent numbers with him as OC, and continue to.

Garrett isn’t even in the NFL anymore. He couldn’t even be a successful OC.

mccarthy.
has a better "feel" for how the game is unfolding.
willingness to try anything...going for it...moving zack martin out to tackle...
aggressive play-calling.
development of younger players and willingness to get them involved.
development of te dalton schultz rb tony pollard and ot terrence steele.
using mcgovern at fb.
aggressiveness on defense.
getting f/o to recognize need for bigger dt's.
emphasis in draft on bpa.
this team seems to be actually trying to do the slogans.
this team is better in every way than under garrett.
haven't won a nfc or super bowl title, tho.
so...does any of that matter.

I don't know how anyone could say Garrett without trolling. Garrett maybe have been a hardworking, bring you lunch pale type head coach but his teams were utterly devoid of guile and that's not how you win elite level sport.

Before it gets out of hand, don't make me ask you louts to count Garrett's Super Bowl rings.
3?
My.

That's 3 more rings than someone's career playoff record of 1-3.

McCarthy has won a Superbowl as a Head Coach so...

And yet one has played backup QB on 3 Super Bowl teams...

For me, he didn't have the team ready for that play-off game.

I dont think he's the guy to get them "over the hump" - just look at the second half of the season when they started facing better competition.

the niners are better on both sides of the line how much can you do to prepare against superior talent?

depending on how this year goes he might have to be canned along with Moore and Quinn. How can the crypt keeper be ok losing every single year

Jerry is an optimist, me boy, he perserveres against the odds, hoping for lightning such as in 1992. Then, we can all marvel at what a great football guy Jerry is.

How do you evaluate either of them without a clear understanding of their responsibilities and the extent or limit of their authority? What areas of the team do they actually run?

Did either of them have full authority to hire the staff they wanted? Did they run training camp and practices the way they wanted without interference?

Were either of them the final decision makers when it came to cutting or waiving players? How much did each contribute to both offensive and defensive gameplans?

To what extent did either influence the games with their decisions?

How many of us have the answer to these questions? That's how many of us can even compare the two fairly.
