What would have a healthy Romo done in 2016?

I don't know if we win the Super Bowl, but we would've at least beat Green Bay.

Don’t know where you’ve been but Aaron Rodgers has the Cowboys number in the playoffs. He beat them on one leg in the playoffs in 2014.

It didn’t matter who the QB was in 2016 we weren’t getting past Green Bay and Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs. It wasn’t our QB who got us beat against the Packers in 2016 it was our defense! We have no answers for Aaron Rodgers. Romo played a solid game against him in the 2014 playoffs and we still got beat. Our defense always sucks against Rodgers in postseason. It doesn’t matter how good we play offensively our defense can’t hold up against him. Romo had 143.6 passer rating in the playoffs against Green Bay in 2014 and we still lost because we couldn’t stop Aaron Rodgers. He shredded us on one leg! Nothing changed in 2016 he still shredded us. Aaron Rodgers owns the Cowboys in postseason.

It's an interesting what if for sure. Romo had reached the peak of playing QB in 2014 but unfortunately it was really his last season.

It’s not like we wouldn’t have still had Dak. We could have played both for that matter.
I understand your point, I just don't think it's realistic. They "could have" played Cooper Rush too, it doesn't mean it would have worked out. Players need continuity. Things played out the best they could have in my opinion. I'm not trying to change your mind, doesn't concern me.

I don’t see Cooper as a viable comparison .

And it’s not about changing each other’s minds. It’s about presenting a stronger argument . Basically you’ve agreed or aligned with the decision that was made.

Most of all you argued or stated we should play whoever is healthiest not necessarily who was the best or provided us our best chance to win in playoffs .

I’d like to hear your stance on why our leadership decided to go with Dak over Romo at that point. It wasn’t based on his health as you have suggested.

Jmo and we'll never know, but

Dallas wins at home vs GB in 2016 vs the worst pass defense we have ever faced in the playoffs in Cowboy history.

But again, all theory

We lost against Green Bay in the playoffs in 2016 at home because we couldn’t stop Aaron Rodgers. It didn’t matter who we had at QB that day. We got down by two scores in that game and it wasn’t Dak’s fault. Romo would have melted down trying to bring us back. He would’ve tossed at least three INT’s taking chances down the field to Dez. He always had trouble maintaining his poise once we got into a hole in a playoff game.

No matter who we had at QB in 2016 our season was going to come down to having to make a critical stop. Nothing we did offensively was going to be able to overcome Aaron Rodgers.

I disagree.
Dak had an early redzone int. then piled up yards late.
The last time Romo was in the playoffs in 2014, he had no turnovers in both games vs 2 way better pass defenses
He also had a late 4th quarter game-winning drive...so no meltdown....vs a totally dominant defense.

I say
Dallas 41-34 or 41-31 or so.
But whatever.

I don't know for sure and neither do you

Disagree all you want but we’ve never been able to stop Aaron Rodgers in the playoffs. We’ve lost twice to him and our QBs weren’t the reason. No QB can overcome the defensive problems we have in the playoffs. If your defense doesn’t show up in the playoffs you’re not advancing. Romo played virtually a perfect game against Green Bay in 2014 and we still lost because we couldn’t stop Aaron Rodgers.

My best guess is that Tony would have played just enough to quickly wear his gimpy back to a frazzle, then be forced to bow out in a wheelchair. I'm just saying so with due respect to the realization that he wasn't a "spring chicken" anymore in terms of his physical stability. His time was up, and he was wise enough to be aware of it. Maybe the team's medical staff helped him to arrive at his decision. In any case, he's a happy and healthy man today.

Had Romo never gotten hurt in 2016, what would have the Cowboys done in 2016? A healthy Romo all season.

He would have thrown an untimely interception at the end of a play-off game, fallen short of the Super Bowl, and ended the season and his career, not with questions like the OP asked, but validating Romo tried too hard in games that were at a premium and showed he was Favre Jr.

Except that in the two most recent games we saw him in the playoffs, he had NO turnovers and led the entire NFL in QB rating.
All against FAR better pass defenses than what we faced at home in 2016.

In fact, Romo only had 2 total picks in his entire career in the playoffs with the last one being at Minnesota in 2009.

I've explained the team chemistry/continuity POV ad nauseum. And, it doesn't matter. Once again, IF HEALTHY throughout the entire season Romo would have helped the team win 10-12 games. Romo didn't play a complete season since 2012, but you guys still want to play the "what if" game. Interesting to see? Surte. But I wouldn't gamble a season on him playing the entire season. Not to mention he played with injuries all the way back to 2009.

I was a supportive fan until he missed the 2016 season and we had a viable replacement. Then he retired. Pretty simple stuff.
I much rather remember him retiring on his terms instead of being put on a stretcher and forced to retire.

Once again, in critical games throughout his career he turned it over to end games. It is what it is.

No way Romo with a young Zeke and Dez, Witten, and an offline from heaven only score 13 pts the first 3 Quarters of that game!!!
Cowboys WIN......

If I remember correctly wasn't Green Bay missing their 2 starting CBs that game?

Romo would have known how to take advantage of that and wouldn't have waited until we're already down 28-13 going into the 4th quarter to do anything.

Dak was being Dak all the way back in year 1. Do nothing for 3 quarters, go down by a few TDs, and then put up empty stats in a losing effort to bring the game closer and give his fangirls something to brag about.
Don’t think Romo knocks off 13 wins especially the consecutive wins he always choked over big close games

Dak had 302 yards passing with 3 TDs and a passer rating of 103.2. He led the Cowboys to 31 points and a tie game with just seconds to play. We didn’t lose because of our QB we lost because of the other teams QB…fact!
