Correct me if I'm wrong but thats..........5% @ LT and a little less than 3% @ RT. Either way, pretty damn good. No wonder they sent Collins packing (lol)

I watched a YT video recently and the guy made some solid points about Steele and why he should start. He did some things really well.

Here is where I have a problem. You say Collins let the team down because he missed games for 2 seasons. I admit the suspension in 2021 was a let down. But he had a hip injury in 2020. If you recall the Cowboys were not exactly forthcoming with the nature of the injury. First they were going to hold him out of practices. Then preseason games. Then it was going to be a few games to start the season. Then, finally, they decided he needed season ending hip surgery. To this day we still do not know the exact extent of his injury or what the surgery was. I don't think we can blame Collins for an injury. The Cowboys were part of the decision to hold off on the surgery too. Then during all of this, a Cowboys writer claimed he was out of shape, as if a serious hip injury allowed him to run, or work out to stay in shape. Once Collins had the surgery I think it was apparent he was held out because of injury and not because he was out of shape.

I posted an article about how Collins is doing with the Bengals and the answer is he just trying to impress his new team. Okay, whatever fits your narrative. But the fact is PFF had an 80+ rating on him after last season. He is their 13th ranked OT in the league. I haven't seen anyone in the NFL, talking heads, analysts, coaches, scouts, etc. say Collins is anything but a quality RT. Whenever I hear analysts talk about the Bengals OL this year Collins gets a lot of the credit for the improvement. Is everyone wrong about Collins except the guys who post in this forum?

If you don't like Collins, I get it. The suspension last year was stupid and unnecessary. But regardless of what you think about La'el Collins, he is regarded by everyone else as a good player and as such the Cowboys should have been able to get a draft pick of some kind for him. The way they handled it they blocked themselves out of any compensation.
Listen Collins was not good here the last two seasons. Fish and other Cowboys insiders stated that his injury in 2021 was caused because he reported to camp out of shape. The Cowboys offensive line started leaking as soon as he was put back at right tackle. PFF grades….. The same people who graded Anthony Brown over Diggs. Said Jaylon was a better linebacker then Devin White.:laugh::laugh::omg::omg::omg::omg: Use your eyes dude Collins was a problem.

Meaningless stat without context. How does that rank against other RTs? How does he do in run blocking?

Well we know you don't know squat. Collins had problems but he was a much better player than Steele could ever hope to be. Only a moron claims otherwise.

You sound like Collins momma or girl friend. So the Cowboys front office and coaching staff are morons? You know more then them.

I'm not sure how many fans remember/know this but he spent his entire 2021 offseason glued to the hip of Zack Martin or as he put it, picking his brain. It obviously paid off, big-time.
He also is considered a hard worker developing his craft.

When they moved him to LT thats when the OL problems started. I really cant figure out why they didnt put Collins in at LG when Tyron came back. This team refuses to put their best 5 on the field at once. lol
Perhaps it's quite different when you have Martin next to you, compare to the Connor's.

I keep reading all these comments about La'el Collins being out of shape, having hips issues, and other stuff. But the Bengals are happy to have him.

https://bengalswire.usatoday.com/2022/06/08/lael-collins-already-making-bengals-better-otas/

Does La'el look out of shape?

I have no idea why the Cowboys cut Collins. Maybe it was just for the CAP, or they felt didn't need him with Steele on board. Or maybe they were just ticked off that he got suspended. But Collins is a good player and if they handled the situation right, they should have gotten a decent draft pick for him.

I think a lot of rumors about Collins started because of the way the Cowboys handled his injury in 2020. It took forever for them to decide he needed surgery and when he had the surgery they were very coy about the exact nature of his injury. Even now we do not know specifically what was repaired or how.

The Cowboys lost Cooper, Collins and Gregory over the winter, three good players. And all they got in return is a 5th round draft pick.

If Steele flops this year the Cowboys will get a boatload of criticism, but even if he plays well, they still deserve criticism for not getting something for Collins.
Collins couldn't be trusted any longer, he missed a entire year cause he came into camp out of shape that led to his injury, then he got suspended, in which he could of gotten the suspension reduced. You know what you are getting with Steele, have no idea if Collins will even play a full season anylonger and his play wasn't worth his price tag.

Steele is at best one step up from a JAG. Those morons here thinking otherwise are typically idiots so no surprise.

As long as he gets help from the TE he is acceptable. that is all.

I would give Steele a little more credit than that but I will admit he is still an unknown. I think we are going to learn a lot about both players, (Collins and Steele) this season. If Collins winds up playing poorly, suspended again, or hurt again, and Steele plays well, the Cowboys and a few others here will look like geniuses. But if Steele is not up to the task and Collins plays well, the Cowboys will look like idiots again.

My point was not about whether Collins is better than Steele or not. In CAP football sometimes you have to let a good player go in the hopes that the guy backing him up will step up. My problem is Collins being a good player means the Cowboys should have gotten some compensation for him, but the way they handled his situation pretty much blew any chance of that happening.

Wow talk about leading with your chin.

I do not have time or inclination to mention ALL THE PERSONNEL MISTAKES THE BOYS HAVE MADE over the last 20 or so years.

Sometimes a blind drunk goat would make better decisions than Jerry and company.

And you just showed you fit right in with them.

Steele is a good player.

Collins couldn't figure out the mandatory testing thing. Always remember what Jimmy Johnson said about stupid players.
