If I’m not mistaken # 66 is in a contract yr . He hits FA in 2023 . This is a showcase year to other cities looking at buying a G next season like 52 going to Miami . 66 and his agent know this .

Had to counter that punch of the Jordan Davis add, we all saw that coming, even Dallas FO before the draft.
Maybe Smith can be our Eric Williams vs Reggie White scenario.
If there was only that much luck in the world.

At this point I would just be very happy if he could be a solid starter and not get any penalties.
It's going to be tough for one draft pick to fix our offensive line we really needed to do some work in free agency to solidify this unit IMO.

Means nothing.
Earn it rook.
Nothing should be handed to you.

just not true in todays salary strapped NFL. With the amount of resources tied up in first round picks, you have to start during your first couple years, and are very much expected to.

Tyler Smith just turned 21 years old in April Connor McGovern his 24 years old anyone who's done any strength training knows you do not have your full power at 21 years old.

Offensive lineman need to develop they are rarely completely dominant right out of college.
This young man will no doubt need time to put on his full man weight and get strong whereas McGovern at 24 should be pretty close to being there

I think too many here are getting overly concerned with the fact that McGovern got 1st team reps yesterday, while Tyler got 2nd. It was merely the 1st day in minicamp. Both MM and Philbin are old-school coaches. Rookies routinely have to wait their turn in that regard. Let's be assured that Tyler will be given his chances when his turn comes due. There's a reason why he was drafted in the 1st round. He'll get his chances -- that much is for certain.

Understandably, veteran experience counts with them. I'm expecting Tyler to get his 1st team reps in due time. He's already had significant reps in the voluntary workouts. In the meantime, perhaps we'd best calm down. The cream always comes to the top. The coaches will know when it happens. They have been there before. Philbin has been blasted enough lately. It's not like all our available OL talent is highly elite, these days. Let's be patient.

Tyler is going to be just fine, and will be a fixture on this quickly improving OL.
I still advocate for my RB3 upgrade that nobody here in this forum ever backs me up on,, lol
Thats how much I believe in the OL transformation and quick rebuild that is taking place.
TFred situation left us in a state of mourning, trying to figure out how we will ever recover.
Mansquatch was a beast that is basically unmatched in this league, he was a beast, I always referred to TFred as Mansquatch for those still reading that got confused.
Point being is that players like Biadasz, Farnoik, just need to work on improving their game, and holding them to Mansquatch standards is a very lofty expectation, not just for them but any C in the league.
Losing TFred crushed this OL and it suffered immensely becuase of it, but this OL is coming out of mourning and I do see the young talent that is being developed and added.

I hope you are right but i'm not counting on this offensive staff to do a good job of anything anymore. And you are relying on them to teach good technique to a very raw guy who has all the physical tools to succeed. as far as RB3....they can't even use the RB2 like they say they will every year. We hear and see the same things every offseason how they plan to use pollard, then they burn those plays before the season starts and he gets 3 touches a game. CW while having alot of penalties was still under rated, the bigger issue to me was center. Biadasz needs to improve and if I see him turn his back to the rookie 1 dam time i'd bench him. Martin doesn't need as much help even if a DT lines up in that gap they do it to get the LG 1 on 1 and in passing situations if the rook isn't on point in technique it might be a hold so B needs to stay a little more square to the line so he can help out in passing situations. love your optimism.

When I go to a game and come across an exceptionally stupid person, I wonder what his member name is at CowboysZone...
That's not nice. Kinda funny, but not nice. And I wouldn't put the OP in that category. I'd guess only about 5% of Americans know what hyperbole means.:)

Just imagine the motivation factor if rooks where just being gifted the start.
If McGovern can actually hold off the rook, and compete all summer for the role, than this OL improved quickly.
Unless of course McGovern is actually the same guy we saw last year and he was able to hold off Smith still; would be very telling of Smith.

But I get your point and I agree!

No to need to wonder, my friend. I’d never suggest to be more intelligent than anyone else on this board. Just a “stupid” Cowboys fan that loves talking Cowboys and coming up with conversations during the slow season.

Cheers!

I dont believe this for a 1st round pick. First round picks should be a clear upgrade at the position he is drafted for. Except for maybe qb. If mcgovern plays well its not a good look. But it wont surprise me this team cant self evaluate.

Totally agree The issue is at center he should have been replaced with a veteran free agent this off-season this will come back to haunt us

Yeah and they're people that get their jollies out of playing the grammar police and cheap shotting some guy when all he meant was he knew he was exaggerating the gravity of the situation.
If you're really so freaking intelligent you should be able to garner the content of the post even though a word was used somewhat out of context and just let it go.

agreed.
mccarthy is not afraid to go with who he thinks has earned it.
a rookie...a udfa...a vet.
best 5.
i don't think its a slogan with this coach.
So explain Pollard not taking snaps away from a hobbled zeke......Or collins not playing LG
