Several reasons, time is one, but then again how long has that been said about Brady.

Wilson is very good, but he also needs a team around him. The last few years in Seattle has shown that. He benefited from some great defenses.
Will see what and how he does in Denver.

Wilson has benefitted but he has also suffered because Seattle couldn't build a decent OL to save their life. He has taken a beating & still kept his team relevant.

Maybe that beating has taken its toll but until I see that decline, I consider him an elite QB.
Waiting to see is what makes sports compelling isn't it?

I mean. They have been to the same amount of SBs lol. I still hate the fact that Donald blew up that last play. Burrow had Chase deep and Jalen Ramsey was on the floor.
That’s now how QBs are ranked and you know it.

Rodgers is a 4x NFL MVP (including each of the last 2 years) and a Super Bowl MVP. Burrow’s nothing compared to him.

Usually like Simms reviews and rankings however this one is odd.

Cousins being that far behind Dak is criminal. 1-2 spots sure but damn he be crazy
I suspect he has about 7-8 of those guys all about the same.
He just has to list them in some order.
Might be splitting hairs from 9-16

His top 10 are:

10. Lamar Jackson (BAL)
9. Dak Prescott (DAL)
8. Tom Brady (TB)
7. Russell Wilson (DEN)
6. Matthew Stafford (LAR)
5. Aaron Rodgers (GB)
4. Joe Burrow (CIN)
3. Justin Herbert (LA)
2. Patrick Mahomes (KC)
1. Josh Allen (BUF)

Just going with the top 10, my reorganization of the rankings:

1. Tom Brady (Still the GOAT until proven otherwise)
2. Patrick Mahomes (Four straight AFC Championships)
3. Aaron Rodgers (Fire in the regular season; flame out in the post season)
4. Josh Allen (Has come into his own)
5. Joe Burrow (Don't underestimate what he did with a weak offensive line)
6. Justin Herbert (His time will come. Still, no playoff visits)
7. Russell Wilson (Denver may just win the AFC West)
8. Matthew Stafford (Remember, Rams got to the Super Bowl with Goff)
9. Lamar Jackson (Barely over Dak because he uses his legs more)
10. Dak Prescott (This is really his make or break year. After what Burrow did and being fully healthy this year and with an improved defense, he has no more excuses. NFC Championship or bust)

Simms has Daniel Jones at 21 and Jalen Hurts at 25. The Eagle lovers on the board wont like that. Phil’s boy always seems to have some controversy at the top, middle and bottom of rankings.

all this shows to me is the lack of good QB depth in the NFL

True, but teams have more than one quarterback. Maybe he should have done two lists, one for the top starting QBs and another for the best backups.
Ok . I’ve just never seen a top 40 list of QB in NFL which would have to include backups with only 32 teams .

I haven’t actually seen the list beyond the top 10. Does anyone have the bottom 10?

Another year or two and Justin Herbert will be #1.

It's funny folks always point to playoff wins for Dak but others skeet by. What criteria pushes Herbert to #1, is he winning a superbowl by then?

I wouldnt want Dallas to play Denver this season now that they have Wilson.

Yeah, I had thought the same thing. Got beat like a drum last year. Might be Mike Tyson level this year.

Denver really seems set to make a run unless they just have a bad run of injuries or something. I suspect I will be drafting Denver players in fantasy!!

I don't use playoff wins as a way to judge a QB, I go by performance in those games. Herbert's final game last year was a playoff game in all but name, and he absolutely put the team on his back on his final drive, drove down the field, converted on multiple 4th downs, and scored. The dude has some special abilities.

I don't either, but it's the gold standard here, he basically did what Dak did in '16 in the playoffs vs GB.
