Minnesota won the NFL Championship for the 1969 season.
They then played the AFL Champions Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl IV - and lost.
So the Minnesota Vikings have an NFL Championship.

As you know that’s already been brought to my attention. It’s confusing unless you look into it. I know you’ve already seen this but here it is again for those who haven’t.

“The merger was announced on the evening of June 8, 1966. Under the merger agreement, the leagues maintained separate regular-season schedules for the next four seasons—from 1966 through 1969—and then officially merged before the 1970 season to form one league with two conferences.”

The Vikings defeated the Rams in the 1969 NFL Championship game. Then played the AFL Champions Kansas City Chiefs for a then interleague football title in Super Bowl IV.

The same situation took place the year before:

The Baltimore Colts beat the Cleveland Browns 34 - 0 in the 1968 NFL Championship Game.
However, the Colts then lost to the AFL Champion New York Jets in Super Bowl III.
Thus, the last two NFL Champions before the NFL-AFL Merger lost in the 3rd and 4th Super Bowls respectively.
The first two Super Bowls were won by the Green Bay Packers --- were the 1966 and 1967 NFL Champions when they BARELY won over the Dallas Cowboys in both NFL TITLE GAMES.

I was in the 3rd thru 6th grades for the 1966 to 1969 football seasons...so I was a spectator as the last separate NFL and AFL seasons took place before the merger happened - so it's not confusing to me that the Colts and Vikings were NFL Champions even though they lost in the Super Bowl.

I didn’t start following NFL football until the 1972 season. Super Bowl VI was the first football game I ever watched. My dad was a Cowboys fan and convinced me to watch it. Been hooked ever since!

On the other hand - look at the number of deep playoff runs those teams have had since their last league title:
Steelers (2008): two__2010 postseason = Super Bowl - loss; 2016 postseason = AFCCG - loss
Packers (2010): four__2014, 2016, 2019, 2020 postseasons = 4 NFCCG apperances - 4 losses
49ers (1994): six___1997, 2011, 2013, 2021 = 4 NFCCG appearances - 4 defeats
2012, 2019 = 2 NFCCG apperances = 2 victories = 2 SB appearances -- 2 losses

The three teams you mentioned were good enough a number of times each to get to a championship (conference or league) opportunity.

Actually The Ravens signed over the Browns history to the 1999 Browns when they entered the league. So while Cleveland moved to Baltimore, they are officially listed as a new franchise originating in 1996, whereas the current Browns now are acknowledged to have taken a hiatus and then returned to Cleveland, as per NFL records.
