Yes, that's what separates the great from the good. But I keep hearing we don't need one of those. Anyone can run the ball.

What you keep hearing is that there are 30 other backs that can do what Zeke does with the football.

Plenty of backs around the NFL that can average 4.2 ypc in our offense. IF Zeke cant dominate games, what good is he?

not true at all... Emmitt didnt have a lot of those runs and his career is nearly identical YPC yearly averages and career YPC averages and zeke not on a HOF team with HOF coaches is he? is he in run first era??...but keep up the trolling..

Right, but what part about my post wasn't true? You quoted me and responded to something or someone else.

Zeke is pretty much a progress stopper at this point. Pollard is a far superior talent, all Zeke really does is get 4- yards on most plays and fall down.

First we have to fix the OL. I don't think Zeke still has his burst, but it's kind of hard to tell when he can't get past the line. He still needs the line to help him out.

I hear you and understand, and its basically detrimental for this team to get top end return investment on Zekes cap hit,but we know that all we can expect is hopeful expectations.
We can keep kicking the dead horse, and I remain as hopeful as everyone, but I am also a very realistic observer of this game, and knew immediately with that 4th overall selection that it was a huge franchise mistake.
How can a professional franchise not understand the value of RB in this game, at that time, before that time.
Nothing personal vs Zeke, just a downright ignorant waste of draft capital at the time/still.
I wasn;t too ashamed of the 4th pick. You have to remember this was to protect romo. Just imagine 2016 Zeke doing for Romo what he did for Dak....practically made an NFL QB out of it.

Now...the holdout and the big contract is what is shameful. And hurt the team more than the draft spot. A trade might have been the way to go back then. Now not so much. Probably will be straight up release or pittance.

Yep and he is so predictable diving up the middle without the ability to get outside. Teams know this and they simply cover the gaps up the middle knowing he isnt bouncing it.

Man.....totallyt blows my mine peopel think this. Pollard has never been a #1 RB. Ever. Maybe peewee.

So you watch Pollard come in fresh and make some splash plays...as he is SUPPOSED to do....and you claim it is "far superior talent".

I'm not a Pollard hater. We've misused used him only a little bit less than Zeke. He's a great C.O.P. RB We SHOULD have a formidable 1-2 combination, if it weren't for our Mountain West passing game OC.

I advise a smidgeon of caution running zeke out of town for Pollard. Tony got hurt playing backup. Put him busting defenses all game long...and settle for him and maybe Dak too being hurt.

Exactly. He gets what is blocked and that is it, nothing more. Plenty of backs can give you that.

I don't think Pollard is good for more than 10-15 touches a game, which is why I would bring in a new hammer back for short yardage situations. Hopefully a new hammer with a bit more wiggle and burst.

I'll say he puts up 1,500 yards or more. That's 88.2 yards per game or better. Double digit TDs, 5.0 yards per carry and close to 2,000 total yards.

Tony Pollard has the tools but not the size to be a workhorse. Why I still think they should've gotten a thumper this year to take over for Zeke after this season.
Pollard 6-0, 216

They can get a replacement for Zeke next draft. No need to develop RBs. They either have it or they don't. They could franchise Pollard if they cut Zeke which would give a season to transition the draft pick to full time starter, but the draft pick should be a legit co-lead back day 1.

McClay said the RB was the udfa they they were most surprised to get.

actually he was averaging 5.1 the first half of the season pre injury and BTW the might Smith22 made career out of 4YPC he only had one year with over 5 and a few over 4.5 the rest 3.8-4.2 FACTS! does that hurt ?? it must...

zeke is volume type back lie ES not a scat back who is backup giving you gaudy YPC stats in backup duty which is easier then being used a ram to loosen up defenses. then go out and run outside most of the snaps they get..less physical and more tired DL unwilling to chase,

do you even try to comprehend what you’re responding to before you start ranting?

Pollard has the size of guys like Kamara and McCaffrey who have similar skill sets and Zeke really can’t even “carry the load” and be quality at this point in his career.

The 2021 Cowboys were a worse team for not playing Tony Pollard more and Zeke less. Very obvious.

At a cap number of 18m$, 1200 yards in 17 games is still well within the realm of “cut this player the moment you get the opportunity”.

I haven’t been a zeke fan for awhile. I’ve personally been super critical of him since the hold out. With that said, I thought he looked fantastic beginning of the season last year, and I think with the knee healed, a bit of extra motivation from hearing the whispers, and hopefully a more consistent line, that he is rejuvenated
Not that bold considering he had 1000 on a bum leg. It is now a 17 game season....so a 1500 yard season would be bold, imo.

Its pretty simple.............only a handful of backs actually get that many carries anymore. Zeke is clearly one that no longer deserves it and is getting them off of what he did in the past. Especially when you have a back that does a lot more with the ball in his hands sitting on the bench while Zeke slowly plods his way to 50 yards per game.

OK I see your point. I just don't agree with it Bro. Tony is an explosive back, a dynamic runner who should get more touches, and I do look forward to seeing him in that role this upcoming season. I disagree with the point that all Zeke gives is

50 yards per game, his blitz pick up alone is a value I wouldn't be so quick to jettison. I mean I get it, people have little to no value in a back who's Zekes age. I do. There are many places this team can build on besides Zeke. People always want the shiny new toy.......until they get it. Dallas fans , be careful what you wish for, you might get want you want, just to realize you don't want what you got (Pollrad as the #1 ball carrier).

As an aside most fans want him gone because he cashed in on his value as a RB when he did and got paid. That's counting another man's pockets and I think that's weak and on some sucka S@#!.

NOT YOU I'M SAYING SOME FANS

That means he will need 280 touches. And he didnt even get 250 the last 2 seasons.

Zeke is a volume back but he is no longer talented/effective enough to warrant the volume he needs to be good.
