I'm just glad that our roster is such that we can't possibly upgrade anywhere.

A round of applause for the front office.
The talent on this team is so overwhelming that teams are petitioning the NFL for the Cowboys not to be in FA or the draft next year.

They could sign a veteran receiver, but they have been impressed by Tolbert. They could add a linebacker or a veteran offensive lineman. That's about it.
I agree
I think at WR they want either semi or vasher to be the last WR. If they don’t show they can in camp then I think they could look outside
Same at tackle, they want a young guy to step up but if they don’t they could look outside
In theory it’s a smart move because it means the depth guys are cheap. In reality it means those young guys have to step up and be ready to play. Pre season games will tell us a lot about if they go after a guy or two, or ride with what they have

Don't want to upgrade the roster to much because it might enable Dallas to win enough games this season to justify keeping Mike McCarthy instead of replacing him with Sean Payton......Jerry has a plan!!
News flash......the changing of the guards at the HC level ain't gonna change the culture of this team.

You guys are ruing over Tartt????? I get it the FO is not active in FA. Tartt is a progress blocker at best on the roster, Hooker, D. Wilson, J. Kearse are your top 3 safeties, Tartt will not replace those 3 but take away playing time from others and cost one of the youngins a roster spot. I only sign Tartt if I as the DC realize that Tartt is head and shoulders better than the #4 safety.

I say we panic, run in the streets naked and raid the bars for easy to grab liquors before we burn out in a blaze of glory!
I haven't had a decent tazing in weeks... Cry emoji.

I suggest we pour the "easy to grab" liquors on our naked bodies and "light em up". That is a true blaze of glory.

We won't need tasers anymore.

Last year he got vet minimum with 49ers and they didn't even want him back this year. Eagles just got him for another 1 yr vet minimum deal.

He dropped an INT that would have sent SF to the NFC title game. That probably sealed his fate. Other than that, he's been a solid player for SF over the years. But he's past his prime and Philly had a huge in hole in their secondary that he fills. For them, it was a good signing. The point is that Philly is constantly churning the roster trying to figure out how to improve. We don't. You can say its our organizational philosophy but it hasn't worked to much affect and looks a lot like laziness.

Both Cowboys projected starting safeties were signed as free agents last year - Hooker/Kearse. Both are better than anybody lining up for the eagles. Kazee who started last season at FS was also a free agent.

I agree with your sentiment but the FO should not sign guys just for the sake of signing guys to please fans. If this was some DT or other position that needs to be injected with vet experience I would be with everyone's discontent. But Tartt as player for the last few seasons has been more or less SF's Jeff heath, trying to replace him and they usually ended up justifying why to keep him.

Kazee sucked and almost cost us the Pats game with his business decisions. Glad he’s gone.

Tarrt has been a staple in SF for 7 years. The Eagles have a huge hole at safety, and he was good signing for them. I did not say he would be a good signing for us. I like the idea behind the signing and wish we would take that approach to our team weaknesses. Howie Roseman looks at Philly every offseason and tries to address the team weaknesses. We tend to think "we almost had them last year, so lets bring as many back as we can"

The signing of players should have nothing to do with fan sentiment. It should be about the team taking a sober look at itself and figuring out how to get better. Dallas tends to go with what they got investing very little bringing in veteran players. Jerry it seems only swings big deals for wrs once a decade.

We need to worry less about 2-3 years down the road and try to put the best we can on the field right now. But, the organization isn't set up to do business that way. So, the teams that are aggressive in the offseason will always have an advantage over us.

I agree. But for the most part most of FA is not about difference makers, most of the players available are bridge players at best. There are some bridge players I wished they would have picked up but ultimately I agree with not spending a lot in FA but I disagree with not spending anything either.

I prefer our approach. Marvel at the job we're doing despite not winning anything since before the Internet.
