I wonder... you put money down on that?
Did I put money on it? No.

Would I? No.

Would I do an account bet against one of these bozos that think the Cowboys are winning the Super Bowl next year? Absolutely. That's an easy win. The Cowboys aren't sniffing the Super Bowl next year.

The cowboys have definitely closed the gap on the giants, but I think we got a few years before we catch the skids or the eagles

Right on.
I never bet anything NFL prior to the season.
Way too many moving parts. The main one being injuries and unexpected rises of players going from Year 1 to Year 2-3.

I used to bet on sports a ton, but I never bet NFL prior to the season.

Edit: I asked because you speak so definitively.

I like bets for bragging rights and such.

If your signature has to say "MountaineerCowboy knows all and I know nothing" for 6 months then you shouldn't be such a homer and think with your brain instead of your heart, right?

I don't like to put my money into something I have no control with, like you said, way too many moving parts.

well now they wont have collins at all, no cooper and less overall talent at the wr position, gallup missing 4-6 games, same 2 running backs, same offensive coaches, they replaced a penalty machine in CW with a guy who had more penalties and less experience in college. Defensively they aren't far off from where they were last year but offensively they are behind and while i want them to win the division i won't believe it till i see it.
Cowboys didn't have Collins 6 games last year and didn't have him at all the year before.
CW was a vet holding people who bull-rushed him because he couldn't stop them without tackling them.
Tyler Smith got penalties grabbing guys who sped past him that weighed 240 pounds. Its a very different animal, especially inside at guard.
I'm not overly confident in Tyler Smith facing Aaron Donald but I am not concerned he will get lifted over AD's head and thrown directly back into Dak like CW was.

The WR corps def takes a step back. Coop and Wilson could play. But WR is one of easier roster spots in the NFL to fill. And Dallas felt CeeDee was WR1. This is not Dallas trotting out Allen Hurns as WR1.
Dallas was the top-rated offense in the NFL last year.
They can afford a step back.
They still have top 10 rated OL/QB/RB corps to go with an average WR corps.
What they did lack last year was consistency.
They blew people off the map for weeks at a time then tossed knuckleballs and played ugly.

Defensively, same as you, I have no worries. The best players are very young and improving. the DC is elite.

Dallas won the division by 3 games, swept it 6-0 and really the games weren't ever in doubt.
Dallas may not be that dominant but they are easily NFCE favorites as long as Dak is healthy this year.

Dallas has struggled in repeat situations but nowhere near as much as Philly or WAS has struggled coming as off-season champions.
I don't believe in the Eagles coaching staff, front office nor the idea paying big money for guys other teams didn't want to pay is smart business.
Until an NFCE teams show they have an answer for the Dak/Kellen Moore combo I am giving those teams ZERO benefit of the doubt because they do not deserve it.

I bet the over on Dallas last year and won.
I did lose a Dallas SB bet but I only did it because it was insanely good odds.

It is easier to bet college win lines and I have a couple of those bets already in.
Can basically bet the under on UT every year and get rich.

I think Dallas at 10.5 is right in line with reality so no reason to jump on it early and possibly not at all.

Giants under 7 is far more appealing as I think they may well decide to tank for a QB.

I totally agree about the college betting.
Big D at 10.5? I can be down with that. Won't drop serious dollars, but I thinks that's reasonable.
I think your Giants thought is spot on. It's all going to depend on how they start the first 6 games and how Jones performs. Then it's anything goes.

The thing that scares me the most is that the Eagles actually got a legitimate quarterback as an UDFA this year: Carson Strong.

I predict that Strong will have Eagles fans forgetting all about Jalen Hurts in a couple of years.

I guess I'm one of the few that would welcome a much stronger NFCE.
Trial by fire and all that...
Make steel stronger.
Force Jerry's hand when the other teams are not looking like wimps and get him and purse-strings Steve back on an aggressive track.

Maybe they were too complacent this offseason. But I think they really want to see how the 2021 draft class pans out before they make their next big move or something with a top-talent free agent or trade. I can appreciate the fact that they're content with their roster.

I would like to see us improve by adding a vet to the offensive line, or linebacker, or safety.. Or even a WR, and I really want to upgrade backup QB.

On another note, I think guys like Fergeson may surprise and actually contribute this year. Same for Tolbert, Williams and Smith.

I think we drafted guys in 2022 who can start right away, and I think we're building our team around the role players we drafted in 2021, including Parsons. But particularly all those other defensive role players like Gholston, Joseph, Odighizuwa, Cox, Wright, Mukuamu, Ball, etc. Those guys, aside from Cox, all showed flashes at some point in their rookie seasons. I was impressed by how much impact Osa and Gholston were actually making for mid-round rookies.

It's a good sign. I also don't think the problem with last year's line was so much Biadasz's playing poorly as it was McGovern, which made it look like Biadasz wasn't playing well at first glance. I actually thought Biadasz did a pretty good job, although I would surely like to upgrade that position. When Tyler pulls, he's one of the better centers at lead blocking out in front of the runner. He's pretty agile, for a fatty.

Agree that a stronger NFCE is a good thing, regardless, especially if we're to be any good. We want to know what real competition feels like if and when we make the playoffs.

I see fans trot it out all the time as excuses for why we are so cheap in FA. The Rams just won a SB taking on players other teams apparently didn't want.

It's hilarious that people still try to rationalize our lack of any real movement in FA by saying how good could Player A be? His team didn't want him ergo it was smart of us to not sign him.

So the Eagles 2 rookies are impact players right away, but our youthful players need time to develop.
Therefore the eagles roster is better than ours? NO WAY. We dominated them in both games last year, and the rosters are really about the same but yet they closed the gap. NO WAY.
They do not have the best roster.

i mean when you ask a rookie to replace a big time player it's a bit different than when you plug them in with your impact players. also draft spot and position factor in. a first round dt should have more of an immediate impact than a 3 rd de (in theory)

So our 1st round OL does not matter then?

And our 2nd round DE was ranked much higher. Many mocks had us taking him as well as other teams in the 1st round.

I would have more confidence in the offense if we had a Dan quin type over there but they don't. NFC teams have had an answer for them already. Dallas's mo is do good 1 year and then drop the ball the next, and repeat. I don't know if Quinn alone can stop it. Moore starts out well but after 6 games he struggles to adapt typically and Mike hasn't helped that at all. Coupled with less overall talent but more hype I'll believe it when I see it. CD is over rated. He's about to get a welcome to being a "#1" receiver welcome.

I mean of course he does, but he's raw. and again being asked to fill some shoes and help fix a unity. Jordan Davis is a monster in a position that doesn't have a difficult transition. Also in his post he said that we're relying on rookies to contribute, the eagles are not. It's easy logic even if it doesn't play out that way.

Not buying it.
Reports on Jordon reminds me of trysan Hill. Can be lazy at times.
It is simple what was said…they have impact rookies, as where ours need time to develop.
That can’t be applied to one team and used against another. We have no idea how they will play rather next to good players or not as good players.

It only holds true to those that want to always build up other teams while putting down the team they claim they are fans of. And that is about 80% on the posters on here.

I think they have better talent and fewer weak links to have to cover for and they play as units better.

What Quinn did with Parsons was out of necessity because he needed to manufacture a pass rush.

The Cowboys have Parsons and Diggs and only Diggs because of the picks, he’s not even the best Cowboys cover corner.

They led the league in picks last season or they don’t have a 12 win regular season. Can they do that this season?
I appreciate that you answered me, but that isn’t what I asked. I understand that you think they have more talent than Dallas. But you specifically said that they have a better defensive scheme than Dallas.

You said: “Dean is on a better defense, scheme and talent wise than the Cowboys offer.

Here is what I asked: “What is it precisely that Philly does schematically on defense that makes you think it is a better scheme than what Quinn is running in Dallas?”

So, I ask again… What about their defensive scheme is better than what Quinn runs?
