Pillars strip sacked him. Stuckey, or something like that recovered. The exact same type strip sack the Raiders did to Tom Brady. It came out when Danny was kind of pulling it back.

In the previous Cowboys possession, WR Doug Donley drops a 3rd and 5 pass that would have given the Cowboys a 1st down at around the 49ers 40 yard line. Yeah I know, who the hell is that? If he catches that pass the Cowboys most likely eat up most of the clock.
Ah, didn't remember exactly who it was.

When the Oline is plays well Dak already plays like a top 5 QB. You need protection and a lack of dumb penalties for QB's to be able to perform at the highest level consistently.

I agree with you..............Oline will have to be up to top 5 and the defense takes the next step against the run.

But really thats going to take THIS years draft class being big contributors. Smith and Williams will have to have great rookie years.

Personally I dont see it happening. Too much has to go right. I dont think the Oline will be good enough.
Cincinnati’s offensive line was among the worst in the league and their defense was not as good as ours. They went to the Super Bowl. For some reason the 49ers were closer to Jacksonville then NFC runner ups when they played us in first round of the playoffs. The Cowboys were one play away from beating the 49ers. We are Super Bowl contenders.

Is all that going to teach Dak how to read defenses better, make better decisions, or improve his accuracy?

All ? … why does Dak have to do all of it ? … Dak does not play defense, .nor block in the OL ..nor participate on special teams.. nor coach ...

Cincy's D was better than ours. Why? Run stoppers. Their huge Dfront disrupted opposing O's and often made them one dimensional w/ their ability to stop up the middle and stop the run as well as putting pressure on opposing D's. That Bengals D nutlocked the KC O in the 2nd half of the champ game. Our D does not do that. Held every playoff opponent to 24 or less.

We won't be super bowl contenders until we can stop the run.

The ineptitude by the Qb and his offense against the Broncos defines them to a tee. There was nothing behind the curtain

For the Cowboys to win a SB they need to get to the playoffs and all the teams except the "worst" AFC team in the playoffs would need to get COVID-Monkeypox........

- And the OC and HC did him no favors .. not just that particular Denver game, ..but 2nd half of season, and the lone one and done playoffs vs Niners.
K Moore only knew that tired out WR bubble screen

- And it's not like Dak is alone ... the zone coverage schematics also cost Pat Mahomes/Andy Reid the AFC title game vs Cincy. .. they stop running the ball despite 5.0 avg and they did not
- have an adept short ball control pass game to counter that heavy zone coverage.

Tired of reading all the doom and gloom posts that this forum is inundated with. You know the usual cast of characters that are Chicken Littles and Negative Nancies and gleefully post about the futility of the Dallas Cowboys. If anyone writes anything positive about the team, they quickly move to douse any enthusiasm via sarcasm or belittlement of the OP.
Well, first of all, I would like to say that the Dallas Cowboys really could win the whole thing. This year. Not five or ten years down the road. This year. We all watched the Iggles win it in 2017 when they had no business winning it with so many starters out. We all watched numerous second tier teams eke into the playoffs by a thread, catch fire and go on to hoist the Lombardi.
So I want to talk about what has to happen for our Boys to get to the promised land and bring us home number six. And I know that the doom and gloomers will say things like' if my aunt has balls she'd be my uncle' and 'I'll have whatever he's smoking' but I am gonna lay it out anyway. And the list is short. That's the important thing. We have the ability to win the whole thing. Again, despite the knuckleheads on this board that say otherwise. So here goes:
1.) Our offensive line becomes formidable. Terence Steele continues to improve. Tyler Smith balls out and becomes the lineman we hope he will be. Badass continues to improve at center. All of Mcgovern's hard work in the off-season shows on the field. Tyron Smith stays relatively healthy. This would open up the running game and make us less reliant of the passing game, keep the defense off balance and help to kill the clock. All of this being said, this is the hardest one to come to fruition because of all the moving parts and the health of Tyron. But it could happen.
2.) The defense takes another step forward from last year. This would require Micah to be just as good or better, Lawrence to stay healthy, Jabril Cox to become a playmaking LB, at least one of our DTs; Gallimore, Osi, Bohanna, Hill or Ridgeway to become a real force in the middle. We have to stop the run. If one of these guys emerges than that will go a long way toward that goal. And, lastly, we will need someone at right defensive end to both stop the run and be able to get pressure on the QB. This could be an individual or by committee. I am hoping Sam Williams will be that guy by the end of the season but Gholston showed flashes and Armstrong has been steadily improving. Fowler is a wild card that has the ability so I will not rule him out.
3.) Dak Prescott becomes a top 5 quarterback. In my mind, he is already that if you just look at stats. He completed almost 69% of his passes last year. 37 TDs. 104 QB rating. This coming off a gruesome injury the previous season that limited his mobility and probably helped to cause the injuries to he accumulated last year. This year he has to become more of a threat to run. He has definitely slimmed down so that should help. If the defense thinks he's a threat to run, it will open up the field for his throws on the run which he is already one of the best in the game at. He also must be more clutch. In his first two years in the league, he was one of the best at winning games in the fourth quarter. Lately, not so much though the New England game comes to mind and when they won last year, they led most of the way. But he needs to show the team that, even when they are down in a game, that they can come back and win at the end. They need that confidence.
Will all of this happen? I don't know. But what I do know that it is not as bleak as the aforementioned knuckleheads would have you believe it is. I believe in Micah. I believe in Dan Quinn. I believe in Ceedee. I believe in Dak. I believe in building a team through the draft, especially when I believe we have a guy who knows how to draft. Lastly, I believe we have as much of a chance of winning the whole thing as any other team out there. And I like those odds.
Dallas has had some of the most talented teams in the nfl after they got out of the cap hell from the triplet Era retirements.

The problem in my eyes is easy, Jerry still refuses to hire a big time coach

Any decent team in today's NFL is one good off season away from a SB appearance. How many times do we see teams that don't make the playoffs, then appear in the next Super Bowl? Plenty of times. So most playoff teams should be closer. But you have to have that level up off season. Did we?
I agree. Every team is one or two good offseasons to becoming a contender. I'm usually the guy that's doom and gloom and that's due to my disdain of Jerry and the FO. But to answer question of Did We? When I unemotionally think about it I feel we had a great draft last year and we made strides with coaching. This year we dropped 2 talented but dumb players we couldn't rely on, Collins and Gregory. So addition by subtraction. I feel our draft was solid with Smith, Williams and Tolbert. FA was the normal bottom tier FAs that Stephen signs but Washington will help with the Wilson loss and Fowler will help with the RG loss. So yes I feel on paper this organization is moving in the right direction. Will we compete for a super bowl, unlikely cuz I don't see us getting past the Rams, Packers or Bucs. But we're moving in the right direction and anything can happen on any given sunday and any given year.

If we can't compete with the Rams, Packers, or Bucs, it is for a lack of trying. We made no attempt.

This doesn't mean we won't. If we're lucky, players, and the team as a whole would have to be better.

It’s really simple actually. Play smart. Remove the penalties. We probably won’t lose again if we could just do that

True. I feel like we ignore half of the team building process and solely build through the draft. We've had solid drafts but is it enough? Probably not. I agree with you we made little to no attempt to get better on paper. Also during this offseason the Cowboys culture was exposed even more and it stinks to high heaven. That also doesn't help us on the field.

That's what the Cowboys do that everyone seems to ignore. They do not build off the last season. Their approach is the same whether we go 12-4 or 4-12. Back in the 90s the Cowboys and 49ers competed and built teams to beat the other. Dallas no longer does this. As opposed to the Rams and Eagles who clearly build off the previous season. You can see their approach is with winning in mind. Doesn't mean it will happen, but it's a start. We don't do that, so temper your expectations.

Just a reminder that PFF says Dak had the best offensive line in all of football last year.
So they say no QB had it better than him

Not my ranking....theirs.

We field teams to make money. If we win while making money then that's a bonus for Jerry and company. The only hope we have is the stars align and everything goes our way and the players overcome the FO and win a super bowl. It's not impossible but not expected.
