He did nothing for or to us, he did it for himself. He did not work for us, he worked for a childish attention hungry man and had enough of him.

But his MO was to never stay in any one job longer than 5 years because he was a builder, not a maintainer. Builders get bored easily once it's finished and want the next project.

He was already talking to JAX and would have probably gotten around to MIA or TB. He'd fallen in love with the sea.

And one thing about this. Jimmy knew Booger better than anyone in the circle and knew once he took full power, it was off the rails. And what has happened since 1995 and the talent on Jimmy's team filtered out? Success on the field?
Jerry took care of him like he has done for many former players. Jimmy wouldn't have his job on Fox if it wasn't for Booger.

No doubt, before cameras in the post game celebration, Jimmy Johnson insultingly was laughing at Jerry Jones. And that was blasted in the media afterwards...unless attempting a rewrite of history.
I do not recall that. The event that started the break up was the incident in the bar when Booger suggested he be toasted as the GM of the team and the coaching staff did not comply. According to Lacewell, Booger was livid and out to make Johnson pay for the snub.

Who knew a bunch of egotistical men getting drunk in a bar could go so wrong?

Jones only won because he had Jimmy. He will likely die only winning super bowls with Jimmy built teams.

And if he hadn't hired Johnson and turned it over to him, he might have had to sell the team within 5 years like Bright did.
Without Jimmy, JJ would never have achieved what he did in the 90s and probably would not have been able to keep the team. Without the success of the 90s, he would have been forced out by now.

Jerry’s fatal flaw is not recognizing that he already got lots of credit for hiring Jimmy and letting him run the team as he did. Those 3 SBs were the result. Since then he’s never recognized that he’s a business genius but not capable of putting together a championship team without a strong HC. We have the receipts to prove it. He’s the most foolishly arrogant man in sports. He never admits his big mistakes and worse…never seems to learn much either. I believe the most apt word is hubris.

Jerry is an enterprising owner, but a turd of a GM. If he had the common sense that God grants a bum, he'd hire a capable GM.

The irony is that Booger hired the coach that Jimmy was the closest to since his days at AR. Barry was the motivation for Jimmy to go into coaching and they were close when they both coached in OK. And Jimmy was glad Barry had the baddest boys on the block, taking the attention of his rebel rousers.

Dave Campo said the first thing he told Barry was to let Booger back in the locker room because he really liked being around the players. As if Barry was going to keep him out. Jimmy realized every good team only has one guy in charge and when Booger was allowed back in, the culture began to get established and the players now knew who they played for and answered to and the team has been reeling from that ever since.

Even when Parcells was there and tried to establish himself as where the buck stops, that failed. The players all knew Booger would really make the final decision about their future and one day when the son wandered into the locker room during a team meeting and was asked to leave, he refused. Think any of those players had ever seen anything like that before?

After Parcells left, team meetings were held up if the Joneses were running late.

And to think some here think it's a coaching problem. It is a culture problem and the best coach on the planet would struggle with a team like that.
It will take a very special core group of players to overcome that. Not impossible, but unlikely.

Jerry won't say "over my dead body", but he may as well be saying it.

WHAT ABOUT THE RING OF HONOR?

“Nothing determined out there at all. That’s something that I’ve never really decided upon almost until a week or two before I do it.”

REALLY?

“Really. No, I’ve never been something that’s had a long tail to it thought process. Obviously the people are qualified are career qualified. So, that is a career process. But as far as the timing of any individual that will ultimately in that Hall of Fame, I don’t have that.”

YOU TALKED ABOUT JIMMY JOHNSON GETTING IN

“I understand that. I really understand that would be a part of the question, but the answer is I don’t have a timeline.”
Alexandra will get into the Ring of Honor before Jimmy does.

He’s jealous and selfish.

He hates that his SBs weren’t teams built by him solely.

Stuff like this is why I laugh when fans go off about wanting a "real coach" like Belichick, Tomlin, etc., as if they would put up with such nonsense.

It'd be one thing if the Jones boys injecting themselves this way produced results. Playing .500 ball and winning 3 wild card games over a quarter century, however...

Nothing Jerry does, and now Stevie, surprises me anymore.

They have no clue how to win.

And the last 27 seasons emphatically proves this.

Petty losers always act petty AND lose.

Really boggles my mind how someone can be in the hall of fame as one of the NFL's best, yet not be in the ring of honor as one of the Cowboys' best. Especially since it was what he did with the Cowboys that got him into the hall of fame to begin with.

Sad really. Seriously. Someone needs to ask him his rational for that. How does Johnson get into the Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a Cowboys but not in the Ring of Honor for the same. I know Jones' reason, but would love to hear his "public" rational response.
It’s personal, sadly. Life’s too short.

Enough with the Jimmy into the ROH crap, it's the least thing on the list for us, really personally it doesn't make me one bit of difference if Jimmy is put into the ring or not, I don't give a skit!!! I am more focused on wins, championships and rings
But some of us are smart enough to realize that Championships and rings are NOT gonna happen with Booger and Chuckles…so the next best thing is to see Boogers face when AT&T goes Ape S for 5 straight minutes after the sheet is pulled off of Jimmy’s name….we have to take our little victories where we can find them.

He would never allow Jimmy in the ROH unless Jerry wins a Superbowl with a team that he built ........ which will probably never happen.
Talk about hitting the nail on the head.

This is one of the most logical statements made on this forum in my time on it.
