"Jimmy's command of personnel, coaching, trades and the draft made him one of the all-time master team builders. He took a team from 1-15 and turned it into a three-time Super Bowl champion. Jimmy's defenses – his 4-3 split safety scheme - were as good as I have coached against. His energy and passion for football were evident in the elite performance of his championship teams at the collegiate and professional levels. Jimmy is a great friend who has given me a lot of good advice throughout much of my career.

Both [JImmy Johnson and Bill Cowher] coaches left their team in a strong place as evidenced by the championships won just a short time after they left. Jimmy and Bill each had a lot to do with building those championship teams."

- Bill Belichick
________________

One man, Bill Belichick, was one of 25 unique individuals seated on a once-in-a-generation special panel to vote for Pro Football Hall-of-Fame’s Centennial Class of 2020. Belichick was a rival and admirer of Johnson. Belichick personally spearheaded Johnson's induction into the Hall of Fame.

Conversely, Jerry Jones, is a one man Ring of Honor selection committee. Johnson was a decades' old friend of his. Jones got exactly what he wanted out of Johnson: Lombardi trophies.

Bill Belichick has a huge ego. Certainly, he has not always agreed with some comments made by Jimmy Johnson.

For many many many MANY years, folks have said Jerry Jones has a huge ego. It is well-documented he has not always agreed with some Johnson's comments.

Gosh. I wonder what could be the reason why it was so EASY for someone like Belichick went to bat for Johnson and worked to get him in the Hall? Meanwhile, it is seemingly so painfully obvious that Jones cannot simply and effortlessly pick A date out of thin air.

I mean. Who can stop Jones from putting Johnson into the Ring of Honor? Gene? The DNA kids? The other owners? Roger Goodell? The media? Fans? Who can stop him?

Oh wait. I forgot. It's his ego. My bad.

He quit on us....that's my issue

I do admire and respect him....I remember when i met him....I shook his hand and told him, I want to shake the hand of the man that fired Jimmy Johnson!

Did he quit, or was he fired?

this man is vile and so full of feces the whites of his eyes are brown. Jerry is trash. No amount of $ will ever change a mans mind and heart/character. Money is the "great enhancer" of ones character. He is who he's always been.

-------He would never allow Jimmy in the ROH unless Jerry wins a Superbowl with a team that he built ........ which will probably never happen.

I've been stating that here for 3+ years...I'm just tired of sounding like a broken record. Booger knows that unless he is coming off a very successful season, he risks getting booed big time at the ROH ceremony.

Ole Jerrah still can't get over that Jimmy was responsible for the success of this team and Jerrah hasn't come close to replicating that success without him. Ring or no ring we all know who was responsible Jerrah.

Not that Jimmy does or should give a rats *** about the ROH, Jerry treats it as if it is all his instead of it actually partly belonging to the fans, and Jerry obviously has no real criteria for who goes in or stays out other than his personal feelings about someone and that's not right. The truth is he would like nothing better than to put his own name in the ROH.

I think he should let the fans vote, other wise I don't really care anymore about the ROH.

Jerrah's ego is more important then what fans want. I mean hell look at the last 26 years, we have been screaming for a real GM to run this team and get this team back to respectability. That falls on deaf ears because Jerrah's ego won't allow it. The ole coot would rather remain the GM and continue to run this team into the ground then give up being GM.

If I was Jimmy and Jerry called me up to tell me I am being inducted in the ROH, I would tell Jerry "You waited this long? no Thank you. I'm happy being in the NFL Hall Of Fame as a coach... What are you in the Hall Of Fame for?"

Didn't Jimmy say "thank you Jerry!" at his HOF induction speech a few years back? Man, I thought they were on better terms now.

Exactly. Jones demonstrated he can approve and have a Ring of Honor ceremony within three months of announcing it.

I have seen people with huge egos, having a genuine dislike for someone else, setting aside their feelings momentarily to recognize another's achievements. This particular animosity is not typical. And that uniqueness is worth noting by anyone on the outside looking into the dysfunction.
well jerry is not thinking of the fans in regards to this. many fans want to see it done now,but jerry
doesnt care about us or what we want, just what makes him happy

It is JUST ego peoples. That is a good excuse.

Hey folks? Anyone have a huge ego? If you have a huge ego, do you think Jimmy Johnson is career qualified? And if you say he IS career qualified, when exactly would YOU have put Johnson in the Cowboys Ring of Honor? You know, if you were the owner and had COMPLETE control of putting Johnson in?

Waiting to read someone say they would have waited as long as Jones. Or half as long as Jones. Or a even quarter of the time Jones has waited.

Need popcorn while waiting. Needs butter.
Dam huge Egos my friend, and just think how much we could accomplish if we could extract that from the game.

It might surprise some folks but there is a good possibility Jerry Jones did not enshrine most or everyone he has enshrined into the Ring of Honor for the sole benefit of fans. Narcissists tend to overly enjoy attention afforded to architects of grand gestures. And the Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor ceremony is as grand a gesture as they come.

Unfortunately for Jimmy Johnson, Jones experienced that inner thrill 15 times already. And even that repeated self-gratification is not enough to motivate him into finally doing the right thing.

Then Jerry got cornered on National TV by Jimmy and others asking when Jerry would put him in the ROH. Nobody likes being cornered. Then Jerry's feathers further got ruffled when Jimmy criticized him later saying Jerry doesn't admit when he's wrong.

Jimmy wasn't wrong, mind you, but he embarrassed Jones twice.

It's way overdue for Jimmy to be put in the Cowboy's Ring of Honor. Jerry needs to stop being so damn stubborn.

I bet Jerry won't induct him out of spite as long as he is alive. His Son might do it eventually SMH. I hope somehow that the Jones family loses control of the Dallas Cowboys. That can happen in a number of ways. Not likely but I can hope.

Jerry fears the Richter scale reception and ovation Jimmy would get.

Because deep down, he knows the truth.

Someone should convince Jerry that there's a curse on the Cowboys, and the only way they'll ever see another SB is to put Jimmy's name in the RoH.
Who cares? How many of these threads does there need to be?
