I'm positive Jerry and Son just can't wait to give Prescott another zillion-dollar deal!!!!:banghead:
P.S. All you Dak lovers enjoy as unless a miracle happens Prescott will be a June 1st cut in 2024.....

Do you really trust the Jones' boys to get anyone better than Dak? Just look at the trash we went through after Aikman retired. Luckily for us Sean Payton knew of an undrafted rookie free agent (Romo) out of Eastern Illinois and got Parcells to take a flier on him. Then the year they drafted Dak they were trying to get Paxton Lynch and later Connor Cook before drafting Dak.

But I agree with you on one thing. The 2022 and 2023 seasons should give us a good read in how Dallas should proceed going into the 2024 season. I just hope that if they move on from Dak they have a better plan in place than drafting a QB because I don't trust the Jones boys when it comes to identifying a QB.

Screwed up ? They believe they found a Diamond in the ruff.

Great fourth round pick up however his scouting report was almost spot on. If he remains mobile(we shall see) he has room to grow. IMO will never be elite though. To many limitations still

Man's been surronded by some of the best talent on offense for years and everyone still ratnks him as a 8-12 range quarterback

My thinking is the owners start talking about protecting themselves and having a max contract similar to basketball for the QB position. Otherwise in the next decade we are going to see QB's taking up 50 percent of the cap and it will no longer be sustainable to put a good product on the field.

I don't think so. Mainly because the NFL has a hard cap. If quarterbacks take up anywhere near 50% of the cap, they wouldn't even be able to compete against teams with lesser QBs. At some point it becomes self defeating.

I’m not suggesting Dak is Elite. I’m more in the middle. That’s not what my position is all about though.

It’s about what is easier for our ownership.

Dak will die off with his buds that have already departed or will do so in the near future.
No way Dak gets another roster to waste as not even the Jones boys are that stupid.
P.S. Then again it is the Jones boys so I won't be surprised if our misery with Dak-Friendly continues.....

You’re missing the bigger point.

This is Daks contract which is guaranteed thru 2023. There are some options to bow out in 2024.

Most likely we will resign him before this contract matures. I’d say after 2023.

And why he only wanted a 4 year deal as the NFL is due for a hefty increase in players share due to new collective bargaining agreement which will reflect all of the leagues new TV network deals raising the Cap significantly.

If they keep him they will extend out, with void years again as well.

If not, they will likely use the 2 void years for dead cap, to bring down the average. Contract is more manageable when apy is adjusted with void years. Of course, dead money sucks, but it's a reality.

You guys are almost smart.

Dallas will extend Dak after the season to add years and reduce his base salary.
He'll likely get about 45M per year for the 2 added years. And this will probably continue with a couple years at a time added at increasing franchise QB rates.
It keeps Dak paid at franchise level and keeps his base low for salary cap purposes.
They will probably start adding void years at some point to spread cap hits.

Dallas had the number 1 offense in football last year with Dak coming off major surgery, playing through 3 nagging injuries....
Going to need you guys to use your brains.

This is who we are this era under this dysfunctional ownership. We are no longer a championship caliber franchise as a result.

These QB’s are actually propping these idiots up. Doesn’t mean there enough for more success but they are enough to keep these idiots relevant which is all they need to hype and sell.

No. But how many teams are good at identifying good QBs? The fact is there aren't that many in any draft. If they stay away from these first read then run QBs like Fields, Lance, Hurts, Tebow types, that's a start.

Pick a pocket passer with some mobility and cross your fingers.

Fans don’t want to acknowledge how low this franchise would have fallen without Romo and Dak this era propping up the most dysfunctionally ran franchise in the league,
I have been critical of Dak but you are correct. The team has been lopsided for so long with tons of money on the offensive side of the ball and very little money here or there to help their good players on defense. The core of the team has been the problem, they spend on the core and everything else rots. They should be drafting guys and replacing them after rookie contracts if they are "NFL average" in other words not all pro or pro bowlers. A very good example was Conner Williams he was "NFL Average" he was not worth a second contract. Let him walk and hopefully the FO is prepared and drafted or drafts his replacement.

For some reason there are many Cowboys fans who don’t see the success Dak is having.

He’s winning divisions and propping up an otherwise bottom dwelling franchise into some relevance and interest.

Its incredible that some dont realize what being a top 10 to even 15 QB in this league will get as a contract moving forward, its right there in front of everyone yet we still have some thinking a winning starting QB in this league will only ask for 20mill a year moving forward. Again just look at what Cousins just got...its only gonna go up from there.

Everyone on this roster and coaching staff have two years to get it right. If there is no progress, I’d imagine they’ll clean house in 2024.

2023 49 mill cap hit, 2024 52 mill cap hit, Jerry will extend him and the team will be in QB purgatory for years to come. remember this is a SB contender according to Jerry and the wait will continue for years. There is no out in 2024 as Jerry isn't eating 40 mill dead money in fact I do not see Jerry eating 22 mill in 2025 so Dak will be there for years to come and the results will be the same when it counts.

Hard to predict where this team and Prescott will be at the end of 2023 but I suspect he and the team will do just well enough, which is what this brain trust strives to do, to allow Booger to justify a competitive contract.

He is most certainly that “bird in the hand” GM.

I do not see this team being too far off that picking in the mid teens to twenty to go blue chip for a high profile QB.

I think people are thinking more on the line of team success. We had the number one offense and got no further than the Eagles.

If we have the same lack of success over the next two years, what do they do? Say thanks for the gaudy stats, here's a raise? I guess if Jerry blames himself for not properly building a team, they might. He did it with Romo.

I agree and why I think he’ll extend and resign him after 2023 season.

And these type of results is all Jethro needs to hype and promote the highest revenue franchise.

Of course , I’m not sure why all fans don’t see that .

Does he want to win a Super Bowl. Sure, more than anyone . But not enough to do what’s needed. And with the revenue setting records every year there’s no real pressure to change. Sign him up !!
