The failed blocks by Schultz have primarily been open field blocks.
- Once he is moving, he struggles to 'break down' and stay balanced while making open field blocks.
- His blocking angles in the open field have also been an issue.
- i.e. On an outside runs he tends to push the defender in the direction of the runner.

Schultz has been 'good enough' in regards to inline blocking.

Ferguson only needs to be a better blocker than Schultz and equivalent receiver in order to be well worth a 4th round pick.
- The probability of any 4th round TE becoming a top 10 NFL TE is quite low.

The Cowboys should find a way to draft Notre Dame TE Michael Mayer in 2023.
- He 'breaks ankles' of defenders as well as any TE that I've seen including Pitts.
- He is as freakish of an athlete as Pitts but his footwork in/out of breaks reminds me of Amari Cooper.

Mayer is going to be a top 15 pick next year. Unless the Cowboys suck, it will be hard to get him.

I'm confident in our WRs.

If I'm the Cowboys, I may consider drafting two TEs.

We only really have one.

We also need tackle help, though. And Rosenthal is still on the board.

He can play RT, and swing left if you need him to.

So, to reply to myself here, we got Peyton Hendershot, also as an UDFA.

So cool!

He is 2nd on my list of 'Witten-ish' TEs (Otton was 1st).

Not going to win the combine, but knows how to play football.
- Good blocker. Gets open and reliable catching the ball.

I liked him better than Kolar because he'll be a better blocker.

Better blocker than Schultz.

I would still draft TE Michael Mayer next year if they have the opportunity.
- He would have been the 1st TE drafted this year if eligible.
Start this kid from Game 1 this season and let Schultz rot on the bench.

McBride was the only true "Witten" player in the draft. Someone you can rely on every down and especially every third down. We wouldn't have Sam Williams if McBride wasn't taken the pick right before ours but.... McBride was the guy.

Or maybe we wouldn't have Jalen Tolbert as Sam Williams is still available at 88.

Good pick, not arguing that.

Though he doesn't appear (but you never know!) to be the Kelce/Kittle-level player, so I'm not sure he'll be any kind of a difference maker, other than to be able to put a pretty good 12 personnel formation on the field. And can Moore utilize him and the 12 package properly?

We shall see...
