We undervalue the DT position.

it’s one of the most important positions on defense. Probably second most important behind edge rusher.

Yet, the cowboys have had nothing but jags at the position since jay Ratliff for a couple years.

last dominant one was La’Roi glover.

Everything else being the same. If the cowboys had a star DT I would feel a lot better about the defense. A lot better.

And the effectiveness of the edge rushers wanes sharply w/o inside disruption. Need both.

100%. As much grief as people give Lawrence (and it’s deserved at times). Dude has played with mostly trash and jags inside his whole time here.

The run stopping issues are because the cowboys can’t control the LoS in the middle against good OL.

How could the defense be undervalued when the team spent practically an entire draft on defense a year ago?

The starting defense has 7 players drafted by the Cowboys in the top three rounds. That seems like a commitment to me.

If we can stop the run (if) Parsons will take over the game. We all know he’s special and this year he will take another step towards greatness.

DLaw is a very good player. Too bad he insisted on being paid like a great player. Last year, when he came back there was a noticeable difference on our D. However, he's still better as the guy across from THAT GUY. It's also possible that his injury issues would be lessened w/ talent around him.

Undervalued is terms of predicting how this season will go. Some seem to be focused on the offense and the starters that left.

You said chunks!

@kskboys

Man goes to the doctor, complaining about his boring, tired routine. He says, “Every day I get up at 6:30am, shower, eat bran flakes, juice and coffee, go to work for ten hours, come home, eat dinner, shower, go to the bar for eight to ten beers and three shots of Jack. Then, I go home, blow chunks, sleep 5 hours, get up, rinse and repeat. Every day, the exact same thing, day after day after day, and I’m getting worried about the monotony. Is there something wrong with me?” The doctor says, “Not at all! It sounds like the normal routine of a normal person! I wouldn’t change a thing!” The man kind of chuckled. “But doc, you don’t understand. Chunks is my dog!”

I'm sure the defense will be undervalued by some, those that haven't been paying attention. I fully expect them to be a top five defense in three categories, points, yards and turnovers. The rookies that made up last season's draft are entering their 2nd season which many say is their greatest year of improvement....on average.

The defensive line, in particular, will be rocking. The DT's go from being one of the weakest elements to being practically two deep. There is some real competition with Gallimore, Osa, Ridgway, Bohanna, Hill, Watkins and even Golston. Cox will rejoin the LB's, The DE's are T-Law, Armstrong, Fowler, Basham, with Parsons joining them on occasion.

The safties are solid and there is real competition at CB, especially if Joseph can resolve any upcoming legal issue.

The only deterrent, it seems, would be a devastating rash of injuries and the Law of Averages has got to favor the Cowboys at this point.
