Do you really believe that McCarthy has the authority to discipline players and name starters?

Or that he even cares that much? Dude lied just to get another HC gig, just happy to still be a HC, the way Jerry likes 'em.

If I’m McCarthy I would put every single one of the bum players in the dog house that Jones forces on him instead of the player with talent, and the system fit to plug current leaking holes.
What bum players are you talking about specifically? Name them.

Well, you're not Mike McCarthy, so it's not your privilege to act upon what you seem to think is a good idea. More than likely, it would only cause dissention in the ranks of both the staff and the players, themselves. The Cowboys HC doesn't have the authority to go against the wishes of those empowered to make such decisions. I'm sure MM knows his place and won't attempt to do that. If the chain of command changes, maybe that would happen, but rest assured it won't until then. MM has no cause to take revenge on those who hired him. To suggest as much is foolishly absurd.

Like Jerry constantly talking about Sean. This is not a one way street.

Yea, no playing time.

Why does Jerry keep brining up Sean Peyton’s name?

For one thing, I don't think we will be getting Sean Payton. He's no different than Mike, and I think Mike is actually the better coach as he had to deal with Aaron's ego. Secondly, I think Mike is here at least until next season.

It's a highly unlikely scenario, considering the fact that there hasn't been any indication that the Cowboys would stand a chance of getting him under the condition of surrendering two first round picks and possibly more. That's just for starters. There'd be plenty of competition for his services from other teams in the NFL. Sean knows Jerry well enough to be leery of his meddling, even though they're friends. He's not about to say so, though.

Another angle disfavoring that occurrence is that McCarthy won the division crown last season with a 12-5 record. If that's not enough, MM has 3 years left on his contract, which would cost the team plenty for Jerry to buy him out. Jerry hasn't mentioned that possibility in a long time. His odds of getting Payton anytime soon are extremely slim. He surely knows things don't favor it, at all. MM isn't going anywhere for a long time to come.

You mods should be ashamed moving a quality thread like this to the tr.... Er I mean overtime zone.

Do you know how much time he had to ponder on the exact right phrasing for this masterpiece?

Shame
