I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that Hill was another Marinelli mistake. His days are probably numbered.

Yep, I dont see the kind lasting after this season if he even makes the team.

As far as that garbage about him giving Smith trouble, when the heck was that? Once in a drill? Cmon

A classic case of people's perceptions costing them the ability to see reality. I have to admit I was surprised how many times Hill stalemated the double and flat out shredded single man blocking in that game. Even I fully expected to see him on roller skates every time he was in because watching the game live it seemed like everybody on the d-line was. I saw nothing of the kind. His upfield penetration forced the back to redirect at least a half dozen runs and when the LBs were in their gaps it led to short gains. Hill might have been our best DL in that game.. He was certainly our best DT. I could see how one could have given the nod to Gallimore or Osa just cause they were credited with more tackles but the both had CRUSHING penalties that kept Niner drives going. Frankly upon rewatch I think the official scorekeeper must have a couple of Hill's tackles to Basham (#92). Hill seemed like he was in on at least 5 tackles to me and he was the primary pass rusher who forced the bad throw that was picked. Yet he was not credited with a pressure or hurry on that play. How do you get into the QB's face, force an errant throw but not have that be a pressure or a hurry or something positive?

Or you just dont know what your talking about. LOL

Heck you still think Zeke is a top 5 RB and worthy of 18 million a year.

Yawn another mistake. Suprised he's even still around

Loved the people that were saying he greatly improved before he got hurt. Dude was ranked at the bottom of the DT lists before his injury. He had like one splash play

For one of those three years maybe. The rest is on him.

Why not? Watkins in one year made more of a difference than Hill has in three.

And Watkins can do that, unlike Hill.

- Watkins has not had to endure an ACL and recovery like Hill has had to do.
also Watkins is not a pass rusher. And the pass rushers are premium vs NFL passing world.

Hill isn't a pass rusher either though.

Hill has .5 sacks in his career what makes him a pass rusher?

Which game was this? I have them all recorded and would like to go back and find this play you are referring to.. Unless of course it came out of the same part of your body you fart from..
It was his second preseason game his rookie year. Couldn’t believe my eyes. And rookie or not, that just shouldn’t happen to NFL caliber lineman.

- i can only recall Hill's having the ACL injury, ..otherwise what other injuries could you be referring to ..?

- We probably could not name one DT that managed to play well vs the run in the playoffs. We had two guys trying to come back from lengthy injuries in Gallimore, Hill.
Osa was a rookie who despite being very durable all season long, every game, clearly showed signs of wearing down at season's end.
A great offseason program and far more effective support around him should greatly benefit him more so.

- And having no Gallimore, Hill in first half, forcing him to play much more reps. and only the likes of Hamilton did not help matters,
Watkins is just what he is. Barely decent vet 1 tech, which you'd need to have much better.

- Speaking of Gallimore, the play vs Washington where he flat slung the starting center outta the way and penetrated into th backfield for a QB sack. is why people
are so high on Gallimore... We know it's in his ability to be that kind of player, we also know it's about consistency and putting his entire game to work,
in every game, instead of one play for every 4 or 5 games.

- We won't be able to seen none of these guys at their potential until they all have a relatively healthy year.

Watkins outplayed all of them if for nothing else than consistency.

Clubbing a C off the snap is a good move but I don't question Gallimore's upper body strength. I question his quickness and anchor. He got washed a lot and showed little ability to disengage.

I'm not sure he's a lock to even make the team

He shouldn't be, I expect guys to go out and earn it. I have nothing against Hill except for the fact he has done little since we drafted him. He has show no flash, he has played decent at times nothing more.

Watkins is a dime a dozen bargain dollar vet. There is not anything superlative that he is the biggest impact DT we have.

And he outplayed them. He actually stood up to double teams occasionally. Can you say the same about Osa, Hill, or Gallimore?

in a career that has been shorten by ACL .. or do ya'll prefer him to rush the passer on crutches, one leg, a walker or a portable wheel chair ?

I'm sorry he has been he has been here 3 years done nothing and unless he does something now he needs to go. I would not hold a spot for him on this team, he needs to earn it. You says he is a pass rusher since when? he has .5 a sack in the time he has played drafted in 2019 any sacks? he then played 1st 5 games in 2020 to start the season any sacks? Not a 1 and in 2021 he has .5 sacks how does that make him a pass rusher? I'm not against him but I would not keep him unless he shows something close to talent and he has not done that.

You asked did we want him to rusher the passer on crutches? NO I want him to do his fricken job as a 2nd rd pick and he has done nothing at all he has 2 tackles for losses in all that time he has been here
Watkins has 5 last season alone. Hill has got to produce period

Watkins has been more solid player than Hill, Hill has been a complete bust and to top it off Hill is paid more. You say Watkins is a dime a dozen? Hill is as well he has done nothing

Watkins is a 1 tech, his role is to go against and force double teams - not that he is elite at that.;
he's ok at the least .. until we find much better.
