What would have a healthy Romo done in 2016?

Romo got better later in his career like all QBs normally do, but he inherited that same offensive line and running game that Dak started with. So people get excited that he was playing smarter which he was, but I would also argue you get smarter with 3 Hall of Famers starting on your line (yes, Frederick was headed that way) and more than 1 running back who can get 1500 yards with it. Who knows what would have happened, but based on his tendency to make some errr…. interesting plays in the worse possible moment, I wouldn’t say anything was certain. I think his best chance was in the Parcells/Wade years when he had that stout front 7 to back him up. Romo was a gamble when it was time for catchup.

Right, with a healthy Romo who played arguably his best playoff game ever with zero turnovers and DeMarco Murray put up 123 rushing yards. We still couldn’t beat Aaron Rodgers who was limping around on one leg. Our defense did us in that day and it did us in again in 2016 against Rodgers.
Murray fumbled on a play that he could have scored and or flipped the field. That fumble changed the whole game. We score there, we would have won

Murray’s fumble occurred in the second quarter on our own 41 yard line with the Cowboys up 14-10. The Cowboys were up 21-13 later in the game. That fumble didn’t change the game much. We had every opportunity to win the football game after that but we couldn’t stop Aaron Rodgers in the second half. Not to forget we missed a FG right before the half and our defense allowed the Packers to get a cheap FG to close out the first half. That was a six point swing which gave the Packers the momentum. That was a big turning point.

I have posted that particular play with pictures and video several times in the past. Murray had a gaping hole to run through. Martin blocked Peppers well enough out of the play but Peppers made a great play by extending his arm back into the running lane.

I will not proclaim what Murray would have done if he had not fumbled but will say he should still be ashamed for not protecting the ball. Running backs are coached from Pee Wee up to cover up when running through the trenches. No one coaches a back to run, literally, through offensive and defensive linemen carrying the ball like a loaf of bread.

Had Romo never gotten hurt in 2016, what would have the Cowboys done in 2016? A healthy Romo all season.

  • Fumble the FG snap.
  • Throw some INTs at the right time.
  • Call the wrong guy the Mike.
  • Come to TC out of shape and overweight ?
  • Make changes at the LOS only he and his buddy WR understands ?
That sufice ?

Dak had like 3 TD no INT against Cleveland. Are you thinking about another game?

Dak's rankings in 2016:

19th in passing yards (right behind Wentz)
16 in passing TDs (tied with Blake Bortles:lmao:)

24th in yards per game (right behind Miami Dolphins version Ryan Tennenhill)

If we go 13-3 with a QB that is below average in basically everything I think 13 wins with a healthy Romo all season in 2016 would be easy work.

Zeke and the O-line was the catalyst for that 2016 team. He won the rushing title by over 300 yards. Dak wasn't anything special at all, just a bus driver, while Zeke was the engine.

Romo would have balanced that out much better. Zeke would have still been great, but we'd have great overall QB play for a veteran, instead of great QB play for a rookie QB.

Great QB play for a veteran is a much higher level of play than great QB play for a rookie.
did u see romo on the golf course this weekend... he is in no shape or was not in any shape to return back to the roster at that point his body was DONE. how many times did old tony fail us and fall to the floor? this was literally getting to the point where every hit was cringe so you can't even say this lol

I answered the question as it was asked.

It is extremely likely the only thing most people saw, on Day 3 of the Wisconsin State Match Play Championship, was Tony Romo stretching his back and immediately getting up while his partner putted on the 40th hole he played. In short, what most people saw was the 17-second tweet video. It can be argued that people attending the tournament or watched it remotely did not think of Romo's back until 2 1/2 days into it while he stretched for perhaps a minute or two max on the 14th hole's green.

Now, back to the umpteenth "OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ROMO WOULD HAVE BEEN PARALYZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!" freakout on CowboysZone.

To answer the opening question, reached the Superbowl and then in a one off game who knows.

We were built to beat the Falcons at home with that juggernaut of an o-line and well we beat the Packers with Romo maximising the offense against lorry drivers in the secondary during the opening 20-25 minutes of the game. Not falling into an unassailable hole like Prescott before prevent defense came into play - how many times have we seen that movie. But it's history so let's focus on the positives...1 play off win in 6 years

your 1 playoff win in 6 years of starting actually holds true on both QB's.....

Any competent veteran QB has a decided advantage over 99.9% of all rookies.

I too don't think there is any chance we lose to GB. ATL is a tougher call but I would give us the edge.

I doubt we win the SB primarily because of our defensive woes but a healthy Tony to keep the Pats defense honest would give us a shot.

I don't discount the Garrett factor. I don't know even if with that 2016 team and a healthy Romo that we could overcome Garrett.

Romo was my favorite quarterback of all time. If only he had decent Olines & coaches, he'd still be playing for Dallas today! Poor guy was so banged up. Garrett wasted him & a handful of other players.

Doubtful. He's 42 years old. And injuries can occur with great coaches too. As for O-Line, the injures in 2015 were with an O-Line that included Tyron Smith, Zack Martin, Travis Frederick La'el Collins and Doug Free. Pretty solid group.

That’s kinda my point. Had he scored or even had a long run , we were about to really take command. After that play , all the things you outlined happens. His fumble changed the momentum. We were putting it to them pretty good up until then. Could have been similar to what we did against Indy at the end of the season. We got up and just kept rolling. It was like snowball effect. But yes. We had many other opportunities to put them away. I just felt had Murray not fumbled we could have really started to break their backs. Doesn’t matter now

My point is it was too early in the game to take command. Our best chance to take command was right before the half. We set up for a 45 yard FG and a penalty pushed us back 5 yards and Bailey missed. In less than 30 seconds Aaron Rodgers drove the Packers to a FG with three seconds left before the half. That was a six point swing. Rodgers hadn’t been sharp up until that point and he caught fire in the second half. What happened before the half totally changed the momentum. Rodgers carved our defense up in the second half.

Agreed. That was a tough road to the SB. Had we won that ? Then have to beat Seattle again. And then the Pats. Would have liked to seen that though. That team was designed to hold the ball and pound other teams till they broke

The question is ridiculous because Romo's back was being held together by this
