Can Dak be as effective as Steve Young

Running, not passing.
You don't win championships because of a running QB...you win because they are better passers. The running perhaps better describeb by being better scramblers when play breaks down and making something positive

Running, not passing.
Steve Young is one of the most underrated quarterbacks ever in my opinion. I think he’s better than Patrick Mahomes ever will be. This is a tough comparison.

That was a different error. Steve Young was a beast.

You just love stirring the pot. You know dang well the circle of hate is going to take over this thread.
:thumbup:You got to love those guys. They have their own little click and they don't back down at all.
You know even when he has his best game. They still find a way to mark him. It’s hilarious actually. I don’t even think they like the game of football. I think they just like the game of hate

Dak doesn’t have the team Steve Young has to be as effective. Dak isn’t the runner Steve Young was.

Dak is not in that level with a player like Young , and never was, even before the injury .

Prior to the two injuries Dak was playing at a higher level than any Cowboys QB and I’ve seen them all. He was putting up a ton of passing yards and had a number of rushing TDs. He was playing an MVP level in 2020 prior to his ankle injury and in 2021 prior to the calf injury. Steve Young played for some loaded 49er teams that had Jerry Rice.

I will say this. I always preferred playing the Steve Young led Niners versus playing a Montana led Niners team. People forget Steve Young with Tampa Bay. I think if Steve Young is in the hall of fame then Doug Williams should be in the hall of fame because Doug actually made the Bucs respectable while they made all those built in excuses for Young during his tenure in Tampa. Both quarterbacks won one Super Bowl when surrounded by top notch talent. Steve Young gets too much props in my opinion. I remember the early friction with Rice because he wasn't throwing the ball on time and running too much. I would have love to see Steve McNair with elite talent surrounding him like Steve Young. He only beat us one time with Barry Swizter once the team partied more than they practiced. We got down 21-0 to them in '94.

Neither is Patrick Mahomes, so what’s your point
Dak is not in mahomes league either . Mahomes has won a SB and is 8-3 in the playoffs in 5 years , so he is headed to the HOF one day. Dak has 1 playoff win at home and seems to have peaked in 2019 . A different situation altogether.

you are putting too much emphasis again on STATS. this era of football massively favors the offense and the QB . Heck , did you know that Brandon Weeden had like a 70% passing completion record when the cowboys cut him . many mediocre QBs have 60something completion stats these days.
Jerry said he threw the ball better than any QB he has seen blah blah.
At the end , it is all about playoff wins and superbowls ultimately.
Dak has a lot to prove this coming season and next , as he has not done anything noteworthy to justify his contract and being the QB of the most expensive sports franchise in the world.

You have to put a big emphasis on stats because it’s a passing league and production leads to points. It’s stats that got the Rams to trade a couple of number ones for Matt Stafford. The Browns traded three number ones for Deshaun Watson because he puts up numbers, despite going 4-12 the last time he played. Teams are moving on from QBs that aren’t productive. Brandon Weeden had a high completion percentage because he was dinking and dunking. He wasn’t tossing the ball 50+ times a game down the field putting up 400 yards and 3-4 TDs. Lol It’s about playoff wins and Super Bowls but Matt Stafford had zero playoff wins when the Rams traded for him and Deshaun Watson only had one playoff win when the Browns traded for him. Any QB that puts up yards and TDs is going to be coveted. Tua has a high completion percentage in Miami but that doesn’t mean he’s any good. He’s entering a make or break season with the Dolphins. He’s only put up 4400 yards and 27 TDs in two seasons.

1st of all Dak is not in the same class as Steve Young as much as you would like to dream of it, 2nd Dak has reached his level and he has trouble on every level and without his wide receiver group of last year forget it. But for all you make believe that this season is gonna be good keep on dreaming.

See this right here is that Boolsh... Dak has reached his level? How do you know? You don't . You don't know how Dak's going to perform until he does. Steve Young was a great Qb but to say Dak not in his league? Why do you say That?

I mean it's not like Steve Young is Troy Aikman or anything

Mahomes is the most overrated quarterback Mr. Hail Mary another Aaron Rodgers. Choke artist. At least Prescott you can’t say that about him.
