Obviously to be taken with a grain of salt but Lindy's 2022 Preview has Awuzie rated higher than Diggs.
What say you?

Lindy's = :facepalm:

How can you rank Chidobe Awuzie above Trevon Diggs? Awuzie had his biggest season when it comes to INTs in a season..............2. That's right, only 2 INTs. Yet, Trevon had 3 INTs in 2020 as a rookie while he tore it up with 11 INTs last year.

As for tackles, Awuzie and Diggs were very similar. Awuzie had 64 total tackles while Diggs had 52. Not that far apart. Also, Awuzie has 3 more seasons as experience under his belt, while Trevon Diggs barely finished his second season, yet Diggs outperformed Awuzie by far when in coverage and getting INTs.

Awuzie was much better in Dallas than people gave him credit for. However, it is very much typical for people to say how good a player is once he’s no longer in Dallas.

You know the drill:
When he’s a Cowboy, he sucks.
If Dallas re-signs a player, he sucks and is over paid.
When Dallas let’s a player go, the team messed up and they are much less talented without said player.

Having said all of that, I do think Chidobe is a good player. I wish he could have had a chance to play under Quinn.

I have no idea what they are trying to rate. Ignoring Diggs for a second Gilmore is a shell of himself and Davis and Sneed are heavily overrated, but this list wants to claim them as number 1s so I am already confused by the list. Meanwhile for reasons wholly unknown as I look further they have Baltimore's number 1 CM Humphrey, who they basically have shadow a teams best WR, as a 2 whereas Baltimore's number 2 CB who they put on the 2nd best guy as a number 1. Yes Marcus Peters is a good CB but even he knows he isnt the number 1 CB in Baltimore but for some reason Lindy does not realize that.

I would ignore pretty much any analysis out of this list because of it. I get that Diggs is VERY boom or bust and that you could make an argument against him because of that but I would not trust someone who has no idea who the best corners are make that argument.

I was interested in knowing the formula used to determine this ranking. However, it looks as though it's simply the opinion of another self-professed NFL "expert" who chose a career in sports media rather than a front office job for an NFL franchise.

If the only criteria used was their ability to cover and prevent their assigned receiver from advancing the ball, then maybe Awuzie gets the edge. He also had a few more tackles than Diggs but clearly, Diggs does not shy away from making tackles.

However, INT's are outright game changers and 11 to 2? In more than half the games Diggs changed the direction of the ball in the Cowboy's favor. A couple times he changed the score in favor of the Cowboys.

Ask Bengals fans which one they would want. That's the litmus test. Any doubt on who they would pick?

Didn't someone's rankings have Diggs at the middle of the pack, a year ago, because they felt he gave up too many big plays ?
Was that PFF last year during the season in 2021 ..?

I have noticed the disrespect our players are getting from the national media lately. Especially Diggs. Dawson and Broaddus said we only have 6 quality players on the roster and they are local media.:facepalm:

Real difficult to compare CB unless you watch a lot of tape... one also has to take into consideration what kind of coverage they are in and what the criteria is.

Take Diggs - a lot of times he might have help over the top which allows him to cheat underneath, where they might put say a Howard or a Lattimore on a island.

He's one article from Next Gen Stats that will blow some minds...

I didn’t care for awuzi while here and still don’t think he’s much of anything

I also think Diggs getting picks covers up a lot of ails

he gets beat playing for the big play. His hands are ten times better than awuzi. Cinci can have him I remember to many plays that cost us first downs and tds
Who was the cb and safety that got torched in SB the first play after cinci took lead ?

Diggs gives up the big play but say he matches Awuzi's INT total (2), we would have a few more L's to our record. Diggs has the chance to be really special if he cleans up parts of his game.

I’ll take Diggs over Awuzie, but don’t undersell the season Awuzie had last year. He easily belongs somewhere on that list. The guy was phenomenal in Cincinnati’s system last year. Would he have done that in Dallas? Who knows, but I would love to have a trio of Diggs, Awuzie, Brown going into This season.

Wasn't Awuzie the highest graded CB last season? Or at least 1 of them, right?

I could've sworn I saw that floating around right before the Super Bowl.

Not saying I agree with it, but I couldn't help but notice that you talked about INTS and tackles and conveniently left out that Awuzie gave up 500 less receiving yards than Diggs.

Broadus ? The “ scout “ from 89 or so . Dawson ? Hawking personal injury attorneys every 5 mins with 2 mins of sports talk ? Nah not buying it. Smells like a Mike Fish ER kinda of segment ….hey how can we get the masses to listen ? I know let’s lead off with Prescott trade rumors followed by only 6 players can be found in the buffet line at the Star ….

Awuzie was a solid coverage corner, but really struggled finding the football when his back was towards the QB. Much better facing, in zone coverage. He was more of a nickel corner/safety when he entered the league. Think his ability is maxed out. Diggs has special abilities as a playmaker. Yes, he needs more development in the technical part, but he is a game changer with his ball skills. People tend to forget, Diggs has only played 2 seasons, where he missed time as a rookie. We haven't seen the best Diggs yet, which is scary.

Comparing Diggs to Awuzie is unfair to Chido . Better comparison is when Jerry 2 yrs ago made the right decision to keep both Brown & Lewis in Dallas and let Awuzie go. Couldn’t keep all three on sal cap structure.
