Weird. I thought the Cowboys had a horrific o-line if you believed what some assert on here. Go figure.

You would think Prescott barely has time to catch the ball before having to throw it!
You guys never look at anything sensible. Everything is so anti-Dak. How on earth could anyone think this offensive line was good last year with all the penalties it got? Just take a break from the anti-Dak post just once and be sensible here.

While I disagree that Dallas was the best O line, I didn't think they were terrible last year. Dak had a good bit of time to throw, he just frequently took longer than he had. They were great on blitz pick ups. I rarely remember free runs at the QB like you get on many teams and Dak's numbers versus the blitz back it up.

As far as the run game, Zeke just took too long to get to holes post injury. Pre injury, the holes were there and the holes were there for Pollard all season.

The offensive line did have some absolutely killer drive killing penalties. I'm not sure how that gets scored for PFF but when you turn a 30 yard gain into a 10 yard loss, it should be a massive minus.
I remember a few times guys came in free and Zeke saved them. The offensive line for bailed out by Dak and this running game numerous times.

It's the offseason so I have no issue with several here posting every PFF ranking there is under the sun.
I'm generally not a PFF fan, but whatever. It's offseason and we need amusement.

But just keep in mind, they ranked Dallas' Offensive Line as the very best in the entire NFL last year.
This was their full season, final ranking.

So Dak and Zeke had the best line in football last year according to PFF

They really are bizarre at times....which was at least part of the point of the thread.

People can't rationally prob up a player or position group due to a "PFF ranking" in one thread and then dismiss them entirely in another.

If they post something a fan agrees with, fine. Just don't say it as if PFF is some sort of authority.

Folks should just admit that they are what they are.

Lol why did you post it then? You didn’t offer a rebuttal or anything so it comes across as you agree with it.
Maybe you should re-read the thread.
It's not like I've ever been some PFF fan.

I have rebuttles and disclaimers all over this thread.

That tells me that drive destroying penalties were not in their formula. It also tells me that the ranking was not cumulative, it referred only to the state of the line by season's end. Therefore, it doesn't account for missing time.

Going into next season they have the Cowboys ranked 6th, despite projecting Tyler Smith, a rookie, as the starting LG.. The eagles are ranked #1.

It was clear after the mid point in the season the left side struggled and penalties were an issue.

There is no measure that can be used to rank the Cowboys as the best OL in the league last year.

Just because a school has good test grades doesn't mean there aren't any dummies in attendance. The good ones pull up the bad ones. Just saying.

Pollard doesnt run many plays up the middle.

We had the #1 Pass blocking team in the league last year based on efficiency & pressure rate, it's a fact not an opinion.
Dak started holding the ball too long and the #1 offense fell apart.

We don't know what the reason was but Dak went from getting it out in 2.4 secs at midseason (2nd to Brady) to over 3 .5 - 4 secs, worst in the league

This doesn't account for penalties which were terrible last year

Can anyone explain why Philly is number 1 after losing all pro Brandon Brooks?
Did read an article about the LT they got in the 7th round who never even tried on a helmet before being drafted and saying he's an emerging star. Crazy if you think about it.

Also, I'm not a fan of PFF rankings anyway. Sometimes they are bizarre.

Honestly, it wasn't their play that killed them last year. They played well enough to go 12-5 and have the #1 offense in the league.

What killed the Cowboys last year was penalties. They not only lost field position, they lost opportunities on downs.

14 penalties for 90 yards hardly ever wins you the game.

Just because a school has good test grades doesn't mean there aren't any dummies in attendance. The good ones pull up the bad ones. Just saying.

As someone who went to UT-Austin, I can totally relate. lol

Because they have an elite C in Kelce, a top level RT in Lane Johnson and the LT that you pointed out developed into a really good LT. Oh and their draft pick last year, Landon Dickerson, played at a high level as a rookie.

Stumbling into Mailata at LT was a massive windfall for them.

PFF was a little extreme with the ranking however not entirely off base. Damn near every other major website matrix had the cowboys OL in the top 10 aswell. Mainly in the 6-8 range I believe.

Pressure(hurries, hits, sacked) 18th overall
Times pressured per drop back: 26th
Blitzed: 1st
sacked: tied for 20th
Seconds to throw the ball before pressure: 11th +....like 10+ quarterbacks in the 11th - 21st range with 2.4
Most penalized team in football....cowboys

Yes the OL play degraded as the season went on however no one watches every OL in football. Dak was the most blitzed quarterback in the league and the OL managed to place him tied for 20th in sacks and 18th overall in pressures, 26th in times pressured per dropback and was right in the middle of the pack for time to throw. THATS INCREDIBLE with the injuries we had. Just shows you how bad most quarterbacks have it. Why we always have incrrdible passing stats.

Now the run block is a different story. Started off great but towards the year it was meh at best. Penalties were also a major issue.

PFF has next to zero credibility. Their scores are interesting but they have takes that boggle the mind. This is another example. The OL was decent to poor last season. They very rarely dominated. The pass protection was poor. The untimely penalties consistent. It was not a good year for the OL.

PFF must not give much weight to costly penalties.
