Because Diggs in on a rookie contract and Chido was paid as a FA. That is the reason.

No. You're not understanding what I am saying. Chido is an FA paid 7M a year. When Diggs gets paid it will be over 20M a year, and that's a conservative estimate. It's not even close. Diggs market value is 21.9M. Chido is 7M. Not a single team in the NFL would take Chido over diggs.

True Diggs will be paid vastly more because he is more talented. I think what Chido is getting paid is fair market value

Yes. I believe that as well. But there is no true comparison to the two. It's like comparing Ryan Tannehill to Patrick Mahomes.

True, I think Chido is a quality CB but is not a playmaker. I do put a lot of stock in a CB ability to get ints. interception are game changing plays, knocking a ball down is big but when CB show the hands like Diggs and can pull those passes in for int. that is huge

I'm just gonna throw this out there....

If Diggs put up the exact same stats across the board next year but only gets 3 INTS ya'll will turn on him quick. 11 INTs has the tendency to make people look pass other flaws and I get it.

Diggs rookie season, only starting 11 games still gave up almost 200 more yards than Awuzie did in 14 starts last year.
Diggs gave up 500 more yards than Awuzie last year, easily leading the NFL in receiving yards given up (by 60 yards) according to PFR. The next closest CB was James Bradberry, who also played in 1 more game than Diggs.

That is a big concern, but not a HUGE concern, as long as the INTs keep coming we can live with it I suppose, but what if they don't?

I want to see him improve his overall game. The INTs are great, but now he needs to cut down the yardage he gives up by a lot.

I worry we sign him to a big contract thinking he's going to get 8-12 INTs every year. I think he has more to prove and the #1 thing being that last years INT numbers wasn't just a fluke, but the yardage number is a fluke.

Do not expect 11 ints a year. I do expect him to continue to develop as he gains more experience and learns

You're spot on with that. DB's get beat all the time. But if you can make game changing plays, that's a level up. The Cowboys were 12-5 last year due to our D making a difference. I'm hoping they take a step up this year. Our O should be ok.

I agree, NFL rules favor offense so I expect WR to make plays on Diggs but what I love about him is he will not sit back allowing pitch and catch all day long, he will jump the rout and take the risk. I do think he has to be aware of the double move but I do not want him to lose his aggressiveness

Awuzie was much better in Dallas than people gave him credit for. However, it is very much typical for people to say how good a player is once he’s no longer in Dallas.

You know the drill:
When he’s a Cowboy, he sucks.
If Dallas re-signs a player, he sucks and is over paid.
When Dallas let’s a player go, the team messed up and they are much less talented without said player.

Having said all of that, I do think Chidobe is a good player. I wish he could have had a chance to play under Quinn.

Chido wasn't bad he was always an inch always from making an incredible play. He was hurt by being in the Marinelli/Nolan defensive schemes.

Agree completely. Chido has all the talent and is an awesome straight-cover guy, he just struggled hard to turn his head and pick up the ball with his back to a QB. Schemes that guys get stuck in really can impact their careers. I was hoping the Cowboys would bring him back, but there is zero guarantees that he could have replicated his Cincinnati success in Dallas last season.

11 picks is a fluke year. No one gets that many consistently, not even close. 4-6 is considered a good INT year.

The all time picks leader is Paul Kruse w/ 81. Only 3 players in NFL history have more than 70.

Deion Sanders had 53. Darrell Green had 54. Champ Bailey, 52. Everson Walls, 57.

The great CB's average 4-6 INT's per season. Sooooooooo, I'm agreeing w/ you. Coverage has got to get better.

Cincy has a great DLine/pass rush which they rode to the super bowl. That pass rush is what enabled Cincy to beat KC, as they completely nullified the KC O w/ extreme pressure. Cincy does not make the super bowl w/o it.

Chido is a good CB who needs a pass rush to succeed, just like 97% of all CB's. There's only maybe 2-4 CB's at any one time who can cover at a high level w/o DLine disruption.

Yep. I'm not unhappy with the choices they made at the position, other than a reach for Joseph at 44, but he can still make good on that....

Think about what may be the deepest position on the team....probably corner.

Agreed but we need to get one good starter out of the two corners from last years draft.

Obviously to be taken with a grain of salt but Lindy's 2022 Preview has Awuzie rated higher than Diggs.
What say you?

You can say what you want. But, Awuzie had a great Super Bowl performance.

Diggs is a baller and has a bright future. 11 ints is should have him at the top of the Ones. But Awuize and Diggs on this list makes me continue to write Jerry Dumbo GM Jones and Stephen Executed VP Jones.

I think it's entirely possible that Diggs will overtake Awuzie with added experience to his credit. There's, after all, a vast difference in development and experience between those two. Here's hoping Diggs does an improved job of covering his WRs somewhat tighter in 2022. Diggs should still have a knack for the timely pick, however. Ball skills are his forte, no question. Actually, I think Diggs was better as a rookie than Awuzie was at that stage.
