Yes, the swing tackle is on the roster. Whether he is any good or not is another question.

Considering the swing tackle is asked to be able to play both Left Tackle and/or Right tackle in case of injury, I'm not sure we have a competent swing tackle at this stage.
To be fair, not many teams do, but I would of felt better with more depth like early last year with Knight and Steele as the backups before Collins suspended himself.

Matt W is a project and I'll be amazed if any coach thinks he's active roster ready this year.
Tyler Smith has gotten reps at LT in MC, to be determined if he is the answer at LT if Tyron goes down. Smith is raw, and asking him to start at guard and also practice at LT is a tough task.
Then that leads to Right Tackle, in case Steele goes down. We have Josh Ball as a potential backup, who unfortunately got very little reps in training camp in 2021 due to an ankle injury. Martin could slide out to RT if need be, but it seems like either the coaches or Martin don't care for him to play there unless it's an emergency.

Behind the starters we have Josh Ball and Matt W, with Tyler Smith possibly being a LT in a pinch. So, 4 set tackles on the roster including the starters.

I'd assume the FO will be more active once TC starts and wondering if they should bring back Tevi once the pads come on.

Edit* To be fair, Steele was a huge question mark last year when he was asked to step in for Collins again, but he looked a lot better in 2021 than 2020

We have potential swing tackles in house but not one who's been established as capable of filling in for both the left and right side. They are as follows:

Matt Waletzko is just a rookie at this time. He will be obliged to develop into a capable replacement for Tyron Smith. It will take an unspecified amount of time and development for his readiness to be complete. Whether he's ready for the regular season or not might be determined in training camp.

Josh Ball is another candidate whose readiness is questionable. Whether he's ready or not will likely be determined in the upcoming training camp, as well. He is entering into his second year, but his development was postponed due to his ankle injury that occurred in 2021.

#20, about the swing tackle.
This one also has been discussed.

more DC.com opinions here.

The plan just became clear to me.

Philbin & McCarthy are obviously focused on right vs left.
Tyler left only
Waldo LT only
Ball Right only

Zack Martin says right/left more difficult transition than OT/OG.

Tyler Smith starts at OG, then moves to LT if Tyron is injured.

Waldo is the backup LT behind Tyler.

Josh Ball is the backup RT and emergency game-day backup backup OG if they carry 2 backup OTs and 1 backup interior OL.

Farniok is the backup OC unless he beats out Biadasz to start at OC. He can backup at OG also if needed.

Game Day 8th OL: Waldo or McGovern

Conclusion:
- Ball at RT with some reps at OG in mini-camp/OTAs indicator of being ahead of Waldo.
- Waldo might not be active on game day.

8 game day OL
5 starters
Ball
Farniok (better at OC than McGovern)
McGovern (also plays the Fullback role)

Obviously if Waldo out performs Ball in camp the plan might change.

No.

But why pick up a vet now and owe him the whole year. We will stay with what we have, until what we have proves to be inadequate.

Our swing tackle is now our starting RT thanks to the geniuses who run this team.

My earliest guess is swing tackle on the left side will be Tyler Smith ..move him over to LT, while McGovern fills in at LG.

Dunno if RT swing could be Matt W. guy. or Josh Ball .

.. .or could someone like the very athletic Aviante Collins emerge as a pleasant surprise ?

And he deserved that promotion too RT. When your ST is better and more dependable to not be suspended the your RT, then it is a good move.
So you finally got it correct, the ones that run the team are geniuses.

yep, but not in a traditional way.
Waletzko and Ball will battle it out for the game injury "temporary swing tackle spot", but I think Tyler Smith would end up being the long term answer if we were to lose a starter for an extended period of time, say 3 or more games.

You would think if neither Ball or Wally show they belong in camp, this is where they look outside to fill the need.

I don’t expect to have that traditional swing tackle. I think they’ll have Waletsko on the left, and Ball on the right if one if the starters go down.

I think it's gonna be a particular twist, condition this year:

- Once and when Tyron gets injured, ..rookie Tyler will move over to LT (his future heir apparent role) while McGovern fills-subs at LG.
- Plan B with McGovern- have someone ready on-hand to replace him, should he struggle again as a starter.
- i expect both Waletsko and Ball to see an amount of time at RT in camp... best man wins, will be likely fill in should Steele get dinged.

You would think the club would have to look on the street, or trade conditional pick for vet help. (good luck on what's quality and available at that point)
But i expect that will be late down to the final 53 cut count.

They'll give those two very young, inexperience guys every bit of chance to compete and perform well, before making decision to look for vet help elsewhere.
