NYP: Baker Mayfield sounds off on Browns return with Deshaun Watson’s future in doubt

Elliott got 6 games from 1 accuser. Watson had what, 26 accusers? To be equitable, that would be 156 games!

I was being a little sarcastic poking fun at the NFLs inconsistentcy with suspensions. But I don't see how it could be any less than 6 games.

The personal stuff aside Watson is a very good QB who with that roster can win
Whether or not that’s anytime soon remains to be seen
They sure bet the farm on him and if he doesn’t play this year it could actually help them because going 0-17 without him wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen. It solves sone money issues and gets you some really good talent to pair with him the next year

It’s not like Browns fans aren’t used to it.

Wow. Mayfield just gave up almost 19M to facilitate a deal to the Panthers. Cleveland gets either a 4th or 5th rounder.

Whoever is running the Browns is making Jerry look competent.

He gave up about 3-4 million as far as I know. The Browns are paying him 10M, the Panthers 4.8M.

I think Mayfield made a mistake by doing this. His feelings got hurt, and it led to bad judgement.

Watson will be out for awhile. If Baker wanted to show the entire league what he can do when healthy, would it be easier on the Browns or Panthers roster? I could be wrong too, and maybe I am underestimating the Panthers roster.

He did the right thing. No QB has succeeded in Cleveland in almost 30 years. I think its the weather combined with unrealistic statistical expectations. I think Baker is exactly the kind of QB who will thrive in a new, warmer environment. All he has to do is beat out Sam Darnold.....in Cleveland, he was already 3rd string behind Brisset.

The Browns made a horrific error in trading for Watson and compounded the error by publicly feuding with Baker thus undermining any trade value. The whole world knew they had boxed themselves in and were going to give him away for nothing. So why would anyone offer much in trade?

I actually somewhat liked the Browns in the 80's. Mostly because one of my college professors was a fan and she was smoking hot, tried my best to schmooze her. She knew her football. If I remember right, I got a good grade, but never talked her into going out drinking.

The Browns were pretty successful. They got to 3 AFC championship games in the late 80s. Lost every one to the Broncos.

As far as the hot professor goes, you sure she was a girl? Back then you had to raise an eyebrow when a girl said she was into sports.

LOL. She was all woman, that's for sure. I agree back then not that many women were into the NFL. My Mom was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan ever since I was born, and the Cowboys were formed.

You brought back an old memory. When I was little my mother was a huge Knicks fan. I remember her cursing at the TV while they were playing. Not so much as I got older.

Cooper made Dak....Cooper made Carr.... ........Cooper can make Baker

If Cooper "made" these quarterbacks, why is he bouncing around the league like a tennis ball????

I'LL tell you why..... because Cooper MADE himself disappear in away games and big games his whole career. There should be some kind of contest guessing what team Cooper will bounce to next....

Mayfield is always going to be one of those QBs that is idiotic fans will claim he could have been great in the right situation.

And he is always going to fail.

I guess the the other GMs are full of it too.... Receivers that "make" QBs don't bounce around the league... they get MAX contracts.

So maybe you're full of something else.

The Browns really Browned this up.

Imagine trading 3 first round picks for a serial sexual predator and then giving him a guaranteed contract. Legendary level of browning by the Browns here.

Yeah and I’ve never liked mayfield but man they did him dirty. I’m going to laugh if he ends up with a full year suspension. I can’t imagine him coming back after over a year (maybe two) away from playing and being good again.
