They certainly did. But they’re clearly loading up to take their shot at a Super Bowl. Meanwhile, we lowballed the guy with a canned contract that we were going to give Randy Gregory. Oh and sitting on what? $20 million in cap space?

Worlds apart.
That's fine I'm sure their fan base won't complain when he's not the player they THINK he is while taking up that much space and in a year or 2 there Cap situation is stupid but I get it lol

I didn't want an Aggie on the team, anyway....especially not an old one.

Not if they (finally) have a shiny trophy for the case!

What else are we supposed to do? Root for the Bills?
That's one option....another is to stop complaining about things you can't control and just root for your team....or watch a boring baseball or soccer game! Lol

The great pumpkin syndrome. Exists all over this organization.
Isn't that the truth. They have rookies every year that haven't played a down. And yet Jerry and son talkin them up as if they were hall of fame studs.

Sounds in line with what Stephen has said regarding positional budgets. They put a number on a position and try to find a player willing to take that number.

They should have done that with Dak but somehow got screwed in those negotiations. Keep in mind they were negotiating with a one legged QB at the time.

I call BS. Hindsight talk is all it is.
But this will get all the usuals and their same canned posts.

Wait until he flames out, then it will be a smart move by our FO.

How you don't see yourself as a "usual" who produces this same sort of "canned post" over and over and over again, is baffling. Sad, as well.

If Cowboys offered 5 years 70 mill I think is a fair offer when talking about a DE who is currently 33 years old, he will not play out the contract to begin with. Buffalo offer was stupid 6 year, $120,000,000 and if he is playing great for 3 years you will be lucky. I like Von Miller but I would not pay an older players that much, this is a young man game

Von Miller Contract Breakdowns, Salary Cap Figures, Salaries, Bonuses | Spotrac

Market value 10.5 mill a season

People see that 6 years, $120 million and freak out but don't realize he won't ever actually see much of that. His deal is really a 3 year, 52 million dollar contract. They can cut him after 3 years, save nearly $15 million on their cap and only take around a $7 million dead money hit. His last three years carry large base salary charges which are not guaranteed.

For Von at that age is actually a good deal. The BILLS over paid the guy

They really didn't. Again, look at the structure of his contract and not the actual final totals.

Miller's deal has $45 million in guaranteed dollars paid in the form of signing bonus, roster bonus, guaranteed salaries for 2022-2024. The Bills will hae paid him $52 million in cash by the end of the third year of that contract. They can then cut him and save nearly $15 million in cap space with a small one year dead money hit of $7 million.

The reason why the contract looks so big when you see 6 years, $120 million is those last three years all carry massive base salary charges - $17 million, $19 million and then $29 million. But none of those are guaranteed. The Bills have zero payment obligations after 2024. For all intents and purposes, what Miller signed was a 3 year, $52 million (or so) contract.

I agree and I think this is a 3 year deal. They will have have a little over 7 mill in dead money spread out over 2 years.

Yeah except that even at his age he's still infinitely more productive than Randy Gregory.
I'm not a big promoter of Gregory, but the age does matter. The contract is 5 years and there might actually be a chance of getting a solid 5 years out of Gregory whereas Miller would be pushing 39 years old by then. I would be surprised if Miller plays more than 3 more years.
