Twitter: Other than this, our offensive line looks great

Ouch, not pretty. Hey things could work out fine. But we have a ton of experience telling us that a Jones led team typically does not work out fine.

This is a lazy take. You could pretty much say that about most NFL teams. Basically he is restating a concern over Tyron Smith’s health- not news.
Concerned over a 1st round pick at LG- someone else could see that as a plus.
I like Sturm- but this wasn’t one of his best observations

Respectively disagree! The Cowboys were smart to dedicate time & draft picks to the OL this offseason but the moves they made probably won’t be enough to fix all the issues for the up coming season. They lost two former starters & did exactly zero to replace them in free agency. Besides Zack, the rest are questionable.

At least we are 30 million or so under the cap. I for one am happy we didn't actually pay a decent lineman or two. I'd rather Jerry have some extra cash.

Not a terrible take at all. He is bigger and stronger and more athletic. So he should be no worse from reports. That is logical. Only fans that want to look at the negatives all the time think otherwise.
In time he should be as good if not better
Early on his will have a learning curve but that’s to be expected.
I think he could be a very good guard and much better than Williams in time
I worry more about him being a tackle than guard

It rolls over to next years cap, not Jerry’s pocket

We can't have a Pro Bowler at every position. I think we see some improvement out of the OL. Honestly, I think the penalties issue can only get better. Conner Williams is gone. My guess is Biadasz improves a bit.
I think Biadasz played better than he gets credit for
His run blocking was pretty solid
He struggled in passing game when a guy was lined up over him but fans need to remember though he’s been here two years he missed his first camp so last year was basically his first camp and he’s played basically one season

My only concern is the Swing Tackle.

I don't want to see Tyler play LT as a rookie but I also don't really want to see rookie Waldo at LT either.

Josh Ball is a complete unknown to us (fans) at this point.

La'el Collins was terrible in 2021.
- They should have started Steele in the playoff game but I don't think they expected Tyron to make it through the game and they wanted Steele focused on LT.

Tyron was terrible in the playoff game. He could barely move and couldn't match inside redirects by pass rushers.
- The good news is that he didn't have any back issues in 2021.
- If his ankle didn't get stepped on, he likely would not have missed a game.
Swing is by biggest concern
I would love to see the rookie at guard all year
I didn’t like the idea of working on developing him as a tackle while trying to teach him a position he hasn’t played since HS

That’s pretty much how I feel about the OL, Pre-camp. Nice take.

I do think there’s a chance Farniok might challenge and win the center position, but the most likely scenario is Biadasz improving and keeping his spot, IMO.
I like what little we seen from Farniok myself
I don’t think he wins the starting job but I think he has potential to be a good player

Wow no mention of LT? That’s been the problem. Tyron’s availability is hurting the continuity year in and year out. The LG position has been upgraded IMO. RT is probably a wash (pre injured/suspended wash).

i assumed when Sturm also said " health" in that text,.. ...that obviously had to do with Tyron's availability.

We have a great RG, a great LT when healthy, a mediocre C, a backup level RT and a rookie LG.

I don't know why anyone would have any hope this is going to be some strength in 2022.

And then the year after that...
Money rolls over till you spend it
But we spend up to the cap almost every year
It doesn’t go away and it doesn’t go to Jerry
Cap space is cap space, not actual money
It’s an amount you can spend and since the cap began we generally max out and will spend this money very soon with Lamb, Diggs and such coming up for contracts
The cap can’t be managed like it’s one year. You have to plan 3-4 years out

LG - just like Williams, he’ll be a converted college OT, and rookie that will have to learn how to play OG at the NFL level.
Also like CWill, has a rap for flagged penalties. Vast learning process so coaches and especially fans will have to patience enuff with his learning mistakes as he grows.
He’s not an established OG prospect but irony is McGovern was an established OG prospect coming into NFL, but has been a bust thus far.

LT - With the vet Smith- Durability and health. And we know how it always goes with Tyron. Look for the rookies Tyler and Matt Wally to be the front runners to
sub for an injured Tyron at LT “when’ the time comes. Maybe club wants to see how the rookies progress this summer and make a trade
around league’s final cutdown day for a more experienced battle tested vet swing OT.

C – I wonder what McCarthy/ Philibin era feels about Biadasz at this stage ? He’s the zone type center they prefer, and not all pro bowl centers are muscle Brutus,
ala Philly’s Jason Kelcie.
But is Tyler ( 2 Tylers, and two Smiths on very same OL ?).. but how does he grade out as both run-pass blocker ?
Can he handle the 3-4 NT on his own ? ….Has his once wild, knuckle-ball shotgun snaps improved ? … is he hitting moving targets on the 2nd level of defenders ?

I get the sense that’s he’s decent, but at the pivot point that usually shows leadership, you want more than just “ decent- average “
Watch the backup candidates they’ve brought in this camp.

RT – some can talk about Steele’s snaps and that’s he’s been here 2 years. But it’s not banking on him as a sub-swing backup for a couple of few games. He wasn’t counted on to
start but circumstances placed him in it otherwise.
Now Steele is gonna be counted on to start Day one at RT for an entire year. While a effective run game would help, he’s gonna be counted on constantly
to more than handle. One- on- one situations where he won’t have chip or double-help, ala catch-up mode, two minute warning…

RG – Martin is not as dominant at this career point but he still very solid, and can more than hold his own. So long as he is healthy, and not forced to play outside at RT,
he’s not one of the worry spots of concern on the OL.

Except obviously this year, when we were 12-5 and in need of making a push. Gotcha.

Who do you as the guy who we could have signed that dramatically sent this team over the top?
Name one FA we passed on that takes this team to the SB from losing in the first round

I think Sturm is one of the best. Always insightful. He’s right. Moore is not good enough to scheme around a bad OL. They need to be good to make it go. Big bet that Smith can stay healthy and Steele can start. Linderbaum not drafted is a major head scratcher.

Get rid of philibin and use a power run game. We are trying to use a zone style. Need to make the switch now.. we are a power mauling team.
