I hope we win every game every year. But that isn't rooted in realism is it? Naw, I just go with the flow and try and stay in the moment and root for my Cowboys no matter how many times I want the coach and or gm to go bye byes thru out the season. I am a fan just a fan.

Then remove the owner and his son from this and make it just about you and your team.

I have seen this for years. "Won't get fooled again" or "I am through buying his snake oil".

Actually blaming him for you doing exactly what you want to do, being a fan. Do you see any logic or rationale to being a fan of a sports team? I do not. It is pure emotion.

Give yourself a break, allow yourself the luxury of being a fan, you can believe whatever you want and hope is not a four letter word, it is the foundation of being a human being.

One thing about the optimists and the pessimists, besides the fact there is no intelligence or knowledge of the game difference between the two. If the season goes poorly, both will be equally disappointed because that pessimist "told you so" card doesn't play well on a fan site. And it surely doesn't make the pessimist feel better.

There is no right or wrong to being as fan, we are all goofy as hell. Doubt that, ask the people, the non-fans, around you.

And ditch the "that's it, I'm through" gyration because no, you are not giving up because you are a fan. You can't help it.

Folks, isn't there enough negative vibe going around in this country without us choosing that? Don't you want to escape that, if even for a short period of time?

If you don't believe or have hope, I am not saying fake optimism but you might give pause to trying to rain on those that are trying to be positive.

This is going to sound cliched, but to me the key to being a happier fan has been to stop being so emotionally involved.

Like many of you I have been waiting 26 years for the Cowboys to win the Super Bowl again. Over that time span I have dealt with life issues that make the Cowboys' postseason failures seem meaningless in comparison. Let's not lose sight of the fact this is a game and is meant for our entertainment. The pressure to win needs to fall on the players and the coaches, not us.

Please don't read this and think I don't care, because I do. I'm just trying to let you know there are far, far worse things life can throw at you than having your favorite team lose a playoff game.

I watch the Cowboys to escape it all and just enjoy the game at face value. There is always another week, another season, and I no longer lose sight of that.

I'm a happy Cowboys fan. My secret is to just enjoy it for what it is - light entertainment. Since Prescott has been playing at QB it helps massively in that regard because any Superbowl aspirations and hopes are non existent so there's zero disappointment.

Believing that We have zero chance to win makes You a happier fan?
That's either, deeply, Zen Master level, profound.

Haha. Fair. The above makes me happier than being delusional and genuinely believing the team actually has a shot of winning the Superbowl.

The team should have gone close last season. It was there but people refuse to admit it. The team was very healthy come the play offs in comparison with other teams so to lose in the first round was an embarrassment and fittingly ended with boneheaded execution on the final play. Yet I wasn't disappointed because I knew the team could not win the Superbowl so why worry about it

Start a Happy thread or Silver Lining thread or forum. Let everyone know there’s a safe and happy place for refuge. And anyone who comes in to troll it will be banned from entering.

If anything about following the team bothers you this isn't the place to go for your happiness.

I wouldn't say anything because everything has at least some thing or things that can be a bit annoying. However, if some find most things about a hobby to be not fun, then maybe it's not a good hobby. Sure, losing for example sucks, but part of the fun is watching and chatting about the game.

I find discussing our sorrows comforting . Like being consoled at a funeral.

I mean, you all know my other favourite hobby. There are a few things that can be bothersome, but I partake because it's a lot of fun overall the same is true with football. Sure, losing is a shame. But it happens. It's part of watching a sport. Only the 1972 Dolphins don't know that feeling, but they lost to us the year before, and they lost games after that season. It happens.

Good Lord, another how to be a fan tutorial
Fans/people are going to do what they've always done when it comes to their favorite sports team. Wherever you are in you're fandom is where you need to be, because this is your comfort zone.

Everyone reacts differently, and everyone will continue to do so. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa. So why should I tell you how to go about your business of being a fan. Fandom is as individual as a fingerprint, and there's no change in that.;)

Oh absolutely NOT, didn't you notice I separated them in the first sentence.

I do believe if this team was like all the others with the owner and GM in the background not trying to make themselves the face of the team, the negativity and vitriol would be far less. They just add insult to injury for a lot of the fans.
So you want fans to be positive, but you'll keep bashing the owner? Lol
