Baseball imo is rather boring by default but having the Rangers as the local team has left me 100% out on the sport altogether.
I'd rather watch the OU girls play softball by a long shot.

Womens softball golf volleyball ( beach or otherwise ) are great to see women in athletics excel . Yes as incompetent and mediocre the Rangers have been for quite awhile leaves one with little to root for . They are getting better , slowly . The Mavericks ever since they won the whole thing in 2011 have been mediocre to bad ever since . The thinking is with Luka maybe they can climb out of the 6 7 or 8 seed “ playoff cannon fodder “ the ridiculous NBA system has .

For the Rangers a “ wildcard “ seems out of the question let alone a division champion which leaves the Cowboys destroying the NFC East not such a bad thing ….fun to watch the Eagles & the other doormats suck .

Mavs made the Western Conf Finals last year and have a top 5 overall player at 23 years old.
They are nowhere near the Rangers situation.
The Rangers have just tanked and tanked and found no answers.
They finally spent some money and threatened to suck me in but are again well under .500 and find creative ways to lose by 1 run it seems.
At the same time we get to watch Houston tank for 2+ years then turn it around to win pennants for the next 6-8 years.
I hate it here.

fwiw my first words were "bibby pitch". for the former rangers pitcher. i grew up listening to the game on the radio nightly.

That would be the great Mark Holtz right ? Great announcer . The best thing about the current Rangers is the vintage uniforms they brought out of mothballs . From that Bibby & Buddy Bell era .

By the way letting Jalen Brunson walk over to Madison Square Garden is not a strategic way of battling Golden State & Phoenix in the West .

No doubt that loss stings a good bit but Brunson didn't start until December and ended up getting 25M AAV. That's kinda nuts.
He basically had 1 great playoff series.

The Mavs best free agency moves have all been getting lucky and missing on targets. See Kemba Walker and others as examples.

And there is still potential that Brunson move becomes a S&T as it has not been completed yet.

Getting Christian Wood for the 9th to 12th guys was a major coup that does help in that playoff chase. Though if PHX gets Durant not sure it matters.
GSW did take some hits as you'd expect for a hard capped team.
Dallas will be very competitive as long as it has Luka.

Mavs way forward here is to get into that 3-4 seed slot and look for help in buy market and at trade deadline imo.
Def not title favorites but you get Luka in a series and unless you have a superstar its going to be hard to beat him.
Thus far in 3 seasons he has lost to Kawhi/PG13 pairing twice and Steph/Draymond once.
Not many teams have two future Hall of Famers.

The Rangers just beat an Oakland team that once again is a legit AAA team but at 30 games below .500 they just can’t cut it . Baseball has to do something about revenue sharing don’t they ( NFL ) . The Green Bay Packers and KC Chiefs from small markets routinely field strong contenders and the only reason the Jets and Lions are garbage is mismanagement .

How does Oakland playing in a toilet of a stadium believe me it is been there done that how do they compete with the Yankees and the piles of TV and Radio revenue Steinbrenner pockets like a pack of gum .

I could see the Rangers making a move to shake things up before post All Star second half starts . I thought before the Mariners series they needed 3 of 4 to chase a wildcard second half but they look like they are going to drop the first two of this four game series. Why was Perez pulled after 5 innings last night while they held a 5-1 lead with your ace ? Baffling . The days of pitchers going 8 or 9 innings is history .

I can't believe the Rangers took Brock Porter in the 4th round. I hope they can sign him and keep him from going to Clemson. Three no hitters and an ERA under 1.
Thats pure domination.

I thought Elijah Greene the Fl HS CF was the pick he went 5 to the Nationals . Interesting in a few yrs see what kind of career he has. I think Chris Young and the executive suites thought Rocker can pay almost instant dividends . They don’t have yrs to wait for Greene to develop.

Porter went to HS in Mich . Not exactly the hot bed of prep baseball . I did read where scouts thought he was the best HS pitcher in America . To get him round 4 is spectacular even if he’s probably 3 yrs from the bigs . Building quality pitching depth if you can sign him .

We are suddenly deep on pitching prospects. At least one of them has to pan out to be an ace I hope.

9500 people showed up in Miami for todays Rangers game . Baseball can’t possibly expand any further .

Ron Washington.
What's up with the Juan Soto rumors to Texas?
Could it really happen?

I’m so glad he signed . Thanks for update . I watched as the A’s hit 3 consecutive home runs in the 9th yesterday to turn a laugher into a 11-8 ….final .
Glen Otto goes tonight in Seattle . Hopefully he’s part of the solution .

The Rangers gave Smith part of that Gallo trade with Otto and Duran coming to Texas at 3rd Duran looks like he’s got a future at 3rd Smith not so much .

Meanwhile Texas looks brilliant not sticking with Gallo while getting some young talent in return .
