Love that he's working in the offseason. We will see if he can reach his potential or not, but seems like a solid kid with good work ethic and the drive to do well
The money might be a factor also.

Workouts and OTA’s are just going through the motions. You find out about players when they put on the pads and the hitting starts. This is where the competition begins.
Yeah and unfortunately because that only happens sporadically and you get fined if you “practice to hard”

Same thing in college.
NCAA preseason practice guidelines have toned down to somewhat what the NFL mandates as necessary.

Don't doubt a number of the powerhouse programs find ways to skirt around the rules.

I'll be very interested to keep up with how Tyler Smith is progressing during TC.

He's been getting advice from Zach Martin, so that's quite encouraging in itself.

Hopefully, his technique will have improved enough to avoid being flagged. ;)

Hasn’t played a nfl snap and some already have him in the HOF.
Like Voch I'm optimistic about Tyler's athleticism and strength and the real possibility that the glaring flaws in his game are about coaching. Tyler has big upside, wants to be good and works hard. Like many others, I don't think it's a stretch to believe he will be an upgrade at LG. Optimism about his impact does not equal putting him in the hall of fame.

Not for rookies that are not close to being ready. Coaches know that after a couple of non-padded practices.

I like him now & I liked him when they drafted him. Give me nasty OL and a dedication to let them push dudes back (in other words RUN the ball) and I'll give you a chance to win every game. Let's GO

He has to lock down the LG spot and be good as a rookie if this OL has any chance of being better than last year.

If Smith can play well at LG and you have Martin at RG, then it really helps Biadasz who is the weakest link along the OL IMO.

This is true. I Smith can handle his blocks one on one then when Biadsz makes a mistake by moving right to help Martin who needs no help it won't be as noticeable as when Connor Williams was getting bowled over and Biadasz wasn't there to help.

Tyler Smith should be good at OG.
The real question is can he ever be trusted at LT and that's a longer process, larger gamble.
He certainly could struggle with stunts inside and blitzes but he won't get bullied even as a rookie.

Teaching and all that only goes so far as the material you are working with. This kid is a monster so that helps.

More PR mumbo jumbo from the Cowboys PR arm. Let's see how good he is when the game starts.
