I should start by saying this is no attack on Anthony Brown. I think Brown is an underrated player who doesn't get the respect he has earned. He's not as flashy as Diggs. But he still does a decent job in our system. You never know when injuries can happen, or you just never know when another player is going to step up his game to beat out another player, which brings us to the topic of Kelvin Joseph.

The things he's been through this off-season actually has the potential to help him as a player, if he's able to play through it. (The same would go for his music career, imo, but that's another topic.)

Cornerbacks have to have short memories, and forget the bad plays, because those are in the past, so you have to focus on what happens next. Kelvin Joseph is facing an uphill battle in most fans' eyes. But the team actually seems like they're supporting him.

People say he didn't play well last year. But I beg to differ. He didn't play much, but he did well with the reps he got.

Right now, it's all about making choices for Joseph.

If he makes the right choices, and hangs around with the right people, he has a great opportunity in front of him to turn his life into something great. He just has to show he has the resiliency to do it. And we should all be hoping for that.

Being available is also important
How many games is he going to be suspended?
Ask Zeke about it.

I can't see them suspending him for too many games. In the end, maybe 1 or 2. But what would it be for?

I think he has outs. And if they suspend him, it will mostly be on political grounds aimed at the Cowboys. I personally don't think this actually warrants a suspension.

"If he makes the right choices, and hangs around with the right people, ....."

Couple of very big "Ifs" there.

He has a history of not making the right choices.... or hanging around with the right people.

The kid's 22 now... he better figure it out pretty quick.

Yeah, but sometimes it takes something like this. This could be the catalyst.

Yes, let's hope so for his sake and the Cowboys.

I'm tired of dogging him. Hope he stays on the straight and narrow. Hope he takes this opportunity seriously and learns from it. Hope he makes amends with the victim's family. Hope he becomes a exemplary Cowboys player both on and off the field.

No team should be hoping that a player stays out of trouble.
It is a given that players with hundreds of thousands or millions in their contracts should be good cifizens.
That is the problem with thugs, you never know.

Good to see.

I caught myself dogging on him too, but I had to stop and think it through.

Making amends with the family would be good for him to heal. I'm sure Ray's family is going through a tough time with it. If Joseph is even somewhat human, he has to feel bad about what happened and that's one thing he can do. I saw some interviews after this happened and he just seemed really despondent, which I didn't really understand but I've never been part of an investigation like that. And I'm sure he saw some things he didn't want to see while speaking with detectives. Stuff like that has a tendency to wake people up. When you come from a place like he came from, sometimes it takes something like that to wake you up.

Maybe it'll even bring some of the right people into his life, so he doesn't wind up getting tied up with something like that again.

The only thing disappointing about this is I thought you were going to post an interview where he quoted this about resiliency. Talk is cheap, but you still don’t see these kind of comments from him so it would make me hopeful that he’s learned his lesson and matured quickly, even if it was for the wrong reasons.

I mean, how did that conversation go?

"Did I just hear a shot coming from the back seat?"

"Yeah, I just had to fire a couple shots at that guy over there. We had an argument. Why? Is that a problem?"

"I think there might be some league policy against that."

"Don't worry, all you have to do is not tell anybody about it."

" I guess you're right. Okay, which club are we going to next?"

Didn't mean to mislead with the title. It's just the title I thought of.

He'll get interviewed this year, though. And he should be talking about resiliency, and the Cowboys should have him approaching this whole thing this way, from a mental aspect. Lots you can teach a young person. As bad as it sucked, this could be the kind of thing the dude needed.

No, I'm not saying that it isn't sad someone died here. It's terrible. But you can learn from terrible things.

The tragedy, at this point, would be not learning from it after it happened.

You're tearing me apart!
So many analyses, worrying about marginal talent!

yeah, if Ray's friends had killed little church boy Kelvin would we be hoping that Ray would find new friends and make a change in his life. I doubt it.
