SMH - what do people expect SJ to say? "Uh yeah I did a terrible job this offseason"

nobody cares what he says. people know what he’s saying isn’t true. That’s the damn problem. talk about being tone deaf.
So my post is basically saying... pay no attention to what he's saying because he's part of the organization. He has no choice.

Your post said...no one cares what he's saying because they know it isn't true.

So our points of view are very similar, yet I'm the one that's tone deaf. I'd love to see you explain why I'm tone deaf when we basically are saying the same thing.

Oh and by the way, opinions don't fall into the realm of true or false or right and wrong. They're opinions, all of them are slanted toward the speakers mindset and situation. Learn something?

A chip off the old block, dressed up like a coach and proud of his own work.

What amazes me…truly…is listening to Stephen Jones act like he’s mastered how to use the cap, throwing in the tired old mantras of “keeping our powder dry”, “we aren’t done yet”, yada, yada, yada.

Meanwhile real GMs like Les Snead of the rams and Jason Licht of the Bucs aren’t talking publicly about what they’re proud of doing or not doing. While Stephen and Jerry hold their “State of the Cowboys Kool aid Show”, and waxing on and on on their weekly radio drivel, Snead and Licht are holding a clinic on how to use the cap while they polish their newly acquired Lombardi hardware.

Stephen Jones is a trust fund kid who doesn’t even realize how foolish he looks.

What did they do in free agency?

I must have missed it.
you did !! lol The jones boys move so fast, we cant always see these fabulous moves they are making!

But this one statement that stevey made, pretty much shows the state of the team, and the FO, so dont get your hopes
of a SB run too high.

very good bob ! comparing jones boys to last 2 SB winning Gms? Kinda says it all about where cowboys stand.

The jones boys spend way too much time in front of mic's and running their mouth for no reason, other than they like doing it lol.

Of course he feels great ........ he does not care if they win as long as the cash keeps flowing in.

He has failed at his job for 27 years and is richer now than ever.

Its awesome for him.

Today, I was watching NFL Network and they were talking about several different teams just starting camp. They would kind of rotate through the teams and give a few minutes to each one. They had insiders for several of the teams as well, and Ian Rappoport and Mike Garafolo. Jane Slater was, of course, their Dallas insider.

They went to Jane at one point today and before she started, Rappoport asked her a question. He said a lot of the fans and media are jumping up and down about Dallas not doing a lot in free agency, but Ian said when I look at that Dallas roster it looks very, very strong. He asked if he was missing something.

Jane just told him that Dallas fans and some of the Dallas media saw other teams making big free agent acquisitions and wanted in on the action…. But she basically said they were doing it right.

Interesting to hear the people at NFL Network saying that.

That’s good to hear. Although you almost never hear any kind of criticism on that network for the owners and front office people because it’s the NFL network. They are much more careful about their critiques of big shots in the league. They don’t mind criticizing players and coaches, but I’ve never one time seen any kind of critique of an owner. Because they own the product.

Fans can throw in the towel all they want. But someone attached to the organization can't say we have no chance this year. I bet even the guys in Detroit are saying their feeling good about their team and they think we're heading in the right direction. When you're part of the organization you pretty much have to say positive things.

So the people who thinks he's crazy for saying something like this, are crazy because they don't understand the situation he's in. No player, coach or GM is going to say we don't have a chance this year.
Exactly. What's he supposed to say, 'we suck and have no shot this season. Our QB Rb Wrs guards and center can't be trusted. We're just looking ahead to getting it over with'.

I'm wondering what he could say that would keep people from the ledge.

Why start a thread only to mock Stephen Jones???
It’s low hanging fruit. IMO most people would rather he act like 99% of the front office people in the NFL- keep his mouth shut and let the head coach be the spokesman for the team.

The Jones boys are THE most talkative front office in the league. Talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, talk…..if they would just do one of two things:
  1. Just be less available to the media. Work harder- talk less.
  2. Or just say something new for a change. We’ve been hearing same cliches and talking points for decades with nothing to show for it.
