How do suspensions work?

if he was cleared of all charges why is he suspended?

what is personal conduct by NFL standards? im not saying Watson is guilty or not guilty but it seems people can say whatever about you and get you caught up and even if cleared you face suspension because of personal conduct

but how is it personal conduct if you were cleared?

Your employer decides you broke their rules, not any laws. And he wasn't cleared, there was not enough evidence to bring it to trial.

What do you mean by "cheat"?

PS: Yet, you keep on following, watching and supporting his business and product.

I was a Cowboy fan before he cared about or owned the Cowboys ....... and I will be a Cowboy fan when his disgusting plastic face is 6 feet under.

And he was caught with teenage strippers years ago and also has illegitimate children while married ...... he is a scumbag, a cheater, and just a bad petty human being. The Cooper and Jimmy Johnson quotes this week are just another example.

I feel the same way as you as to cheating around on your spouse, but Jerry has proven to become the most innovative, productive and successful owner in the whole NFL. That has greatly helped the Cowboys to become the most liked and lucrative team in all of sports worldwide. Plus, Jerry certainly takes good care of his players, coaches and fans.

Most employers have work rules about conduct that have nothing to do with breaking a law. In this case, there's a collective bargaining agreement covering them.

Look at the publicity these lawsuits have brought to the NFL. Has any of it been good for the image of the League? Nope. That's why these policies exist.

A great owner would not keep a bottom five GM on the team for the last 27 years.

All that shows is he cares more about his ego than any of the players that he failed as a GM ....... thank God at least Ware went and got him a Superbowl so that his career wasn't wasted like Romo, Witten, Dez, and probably Dak, Zeke, Martin, Smith, Parsons, and Diggs.

I will never forgive him for wasting 27 years of the fans Cowboys fandom and getting richer and richer while doing it because of the very fans that he fails year after year.

Who beat their girlfriend ???????

Who Raped anyone?????

OR is this just an illustration of how woman makes an allegation , mans guilty. Even if there's no evidence, no charges NOTHING!
It is an illustration of the fact that sports leagues find gambling on the sport by players is far more serious than almost anything. Plenty of guys beat up their girlfriend(Ray Rice) and get a few games. Ridley bet and got an automatic year. Let him bet again and I bet he is done.

Maybe you should try reading from actual sources on this topic. It might help you understand the stuff that you look foolish complaining about a little better.
Why would I waste my time reading when you know every answer to every topic that has ever been thought about since the beginning of time. Maybe you should learn how to have a conversation without coming across as a condescending jerk.
Great point and we expect the NFL to be the moral compass. I think the league should have stayed out of this from the start.
Well I feel that's the core of the frustration with the NFL and these matters. I feel the NFL needs to make a decision whether or not they are going to be a psuedo police force/moral compass or not. If they are going to be a policing entity or a moral compass for the players then they need to be consistent and transparent. I for one wish the NFL would not attempt to be a moral police entity and if the players get arrested then they get arrested. Or whatever the players do they suffer the consequences for it. Off the top of my head
Zeke- accused of domestic violence, woman recanted her story, investigator said she believe he did not do it, 6 game suspension.
Watson- 20+ women accuse him of sexual misconduct, investigation results in no charges being filed, 6 game suspension
Ridley- gambling, 1 year ban
Wade Wilson- QB coach, uses PEDs to fight diabetes, how a coach using PEDs to fight diabetes is even a problem is beyond me, 4 game suspension.
Dan Snyder- sexual harassment environment. Won't answer to it. No punishment yet.
KJ- at the scene of a murder, investigators cleared him of criminal charges, no word on suspension.

Very inconsistent, very random. Me personally I wish the league would only deal with issues that affect the field of play, ala tampering or injury bounties. But I wish they would step.out of the role of trying to morally police the players unless they become more consistent. JMO

Watson was not cleared of anything. 2 Grand Jurys failed to indict him, basically meaning they felt he broke no applicable laws, or they felt there would not be anough evidence to suggest charges be filed.

The CBA has personal conduct clauses in it. Basically they hve some specific things listed (domestic battery, rape and what not) that will get players suspended regardless of what law enforcement does.

Watson was said to have acted very inappropriately even though it may not have reached any legal threshold. Thus he was suspended in line with what others in the past have received.

There is no doubt I can come of condescending, and when I do, it is damn sure on purpose. It gets old hearing people moan and groan and whine about stuff that they literally have zero actual knowledge about. Things are explained over and over, and people still say stuff that has zero relevance. I have had plenty of good conversations with people on this subject, but at some point...people's willful ignorance gets called out.

I swear I have read post after post after post(including the 2nd part of yours that I quoted above) complain about this punishment saying it isnt consistent with other punishments..... uhm, no kidding. Because this is the VERY FIRST ONE TO HAVE AN ARBITRATOR. So to complain specifically about WATSON'S punishment not being "Fair," when compared to players like Zeke is just foolish.

Im with you on all the previous punishments. Totally random... and this is exactly why they started using an arbitrator.

Gotta get the moral stuff out of your head. This is all about money and public image. NFL doesn't care about policing anything, they only care about getting the most people to watch and buy stuff.

And that is what all employers do. Employees are punished/fired when they cost the company money.

Drives me batty when people keep repeating erroneous ideas. Just saw someone call Stephen cheap. Something about saving money. This is another silly idea that's being passed around, the signing of players is being done badly due to the Joneses being football idiots, plain and simple. Has nothing to do w/ being cheap. Jones have tried big name FA's and cheap FA's, so at this point they are just confused. And it's blatantly obvious. Ask Carr and Cooper and Jaylon and Crawford if the Jones are cheap!!!!!!!!!!!!!
