When we play traditional 4-3, I feel better right now about Barr, LVE and Parsons being the three linebackers than Cox being one of them. I think Cox will shine in the coverage role in the nickel, but I don't know where he is with his run defense. Barr also gives us another coverage option at linebacker in case of injury or for rotation purposes. Like the linebackers being four-deep instead of three-deep and one injury from Gifford starting.

My gosh. The Jones' are fixated on LB's. The main issue I've seen w/Barr is & always has been his health. He missed a combined 30 games in his 8 seasons w/the Vikings due to six different injuries, three of which recurred twice.

For a big bodied NFL LB now in his 30s, it’s only downhill from here. The fact that he remained unsigned this close to training camp is a sign that all 31 other franchises also have their reservations.
Lots of guys remain unsigned
Most of them have some flaws that makes teams not want to make a long commitment to them
But he does bring more than Fowler as a pass rusher, if he can stay healthy

Any of yall remember when we brought in washed up defensive end Robert Quinn and all the exact same morons *****ing about Barr, *****ed about the Quinn signing. Then he went on and had a very productive season with 12 sacks and helped this team quite a bit. Anyone else remember that. I remember that.

I havent watched him play enough recently to know if his play has fallen off a cliff with age.

But if it hasn't and he's got some juice left, I like the signing.

I just hope he plays like Cobb, Bennett, and Quinn.

And not like Poe, Clinton-Dix, Griffen, Nyseskhe and (after about 5 games) Aldon Smith too.

Anthony Barr was drafted as the 9th overall pick, the same year Dallas picked Zach Martin. He is 6'5, 275, and I'm surprised that his highlights show quite a bit of quickness and agility at that playing weight. Averages about 70 tackles a year, and 2 sacks every year, 3 interceptions last year. Pretty decent addition!

they tried, but it had the “ study game film” requirement in the original contract. They finally got rid of it
A 30 year old get can be fine missing a few camp practices
Besides you don’t want him practicing too much with his injury history
He’s played a full season twice in his career
Save him for the 4 regular season games he can make lol
