Does Houston play special teams? That’s a huge part of filling out the bottom of the roster

That could definitely be a factor, but we will also have some players who are inactive. So if he stands out as a receiver enough to make the roster, he might just not make the game-day roster ... unless, of course, he's one of the top-three receivers, which right now might not be that hard to be with Gallup and Washington out. I mean, it's not like the competition there is loaded with early-round picks.

I don't care about all that I care about games. For bell and izzy practice is ok but preseason games will make or break them. Especially since neither have made any significant plays this camp.

I care about games, too, but I think it's preferable to hear good things about a player concerning practice than either nothing at all or bad things.

You need to fill out a special teams squad so there won’t likely be room for him on the 53 IF he doesn’t. Your STs guys that make the 53 also make the game day roster usually. Caveat of course would be if as you say he is a top 3 WR but is that really likely? I’m all for kids busting down the door and earning a spot, but practice squad may be more likely

I have no clue
Changing positions doesn’t always workout
The safety position is gonna be interesting
We will probably go long at WR with two guys out so it may require going short somewhere else
Once the season starts Gallup is either active if he’s real close or on pup which requires missing 4 games
Washington too
Hopefully one of those guys is close enough to avoid that

I don't know. I think it's more likely we'll carry fewer receivers if we know we essentially have two in reserve. I think we'll end up carrying five (maybe Lamb, Tolbert, Houston, Brown, Turpin ... maybe not since Vasher and Fehoko might have something to say about it).

Not sure what they are seeing, so I can't say. He could end up being a camp stud and preseason dud. I don't think it's necessary for him to shine on ST, though, to make the 53 and be inactive. Someone has to be inactive, so they're not exactly helping on ST.

I guess what I am saying is when you only get 53 guys, your top receivers will be active and your bottom WRs will likely need to play STs. So he probably has to be in one of those groups to make the 53. I don’t see us keeping a #5 or 6 (if we go that deep) WR that doesn’t play STs

That's not necessarily true, though. It's just a matter of who the inactives are going to be. Last year, for instance, Simi Fehoko was inactive for 11 games. If Houston is a better receiver than Fehoko was, he might not need special teams to be kept. There are enough players for special teams without every reserve skill player being needed.

Well agree to disagree. I haven't heard media talk about nashon Wright and he's been balling. I can't wait to see them battle. If Bell comes out getting picks and making plays cool. But I don't do the whole hype train gets gifted a roster spot.

I've heard Wright get some positive mention, but not a word on Mukuamu. Doesn't necessarily mean much, though. It is just hype.

Fehoko can play special teams. That’s the point

He can, but not everyone who is inactive can or has to. That's the point. If he's good enough at receiver, then we'll keep him whether he's a good special-teamer or not. If we keep five or six receivers, at least one of them will be inactive every week. Fehoko was the main one last year, being activated only when we needed WR depth because of COVID/injuries. Fehoko being able to play special teams would probably mean he'd be active over Houston.

Of course, we're speculating. We don't know how good (or bad) Houston will be or if he will play special teams.

I think he would have been the Cowboys 7th round pick if they had one.

He's got a shot to be a real player. Unlike the usual riff-raff that gets hyped this time of year.

I still think time will tell on Ken-Yon Rambo. That kid's got something...

Barring injury or a horrific outing during preseason (which I DON'T anticipate), Bell will make this team. I also think that Dennis Houston will push Simi Fehoko at WR, that Storey Jackson could push Izzy Mukuamu at S, and that DaRon Bland (or another rising rookie) could push Nahshon Wright at DB.

I haven't heard anything about those physical traits being developed, though. While good things are being said about Bell, it's been crickets with Mukuamu, unless you know something I don't know. That doesn't necessarily mean anything bad. He may just be going unnoticed by the media.

He's a smart player.
