I don't really mind where Emmitt placed but I see no reason for Barry Sanders getting #2 over Walter Payton.

Emmitt gets screwed in these polls because the critics credit the offensive line. And, yes, Emmitt had some good offensive linemen in front of him, but not all were great and his OL changed from year to year. Emmitt was the constant. What him run, he made a lot of plays on his own. Emmitt did not get all those career yards behind a great OL. He got a lot of them because he had great vision, great balance, excellent feet, and maybe the biggest heart in football. People forget Emmitt was great at every level he played. He belongs in the top 2.

no doubt about it. The durability, the longevity, the heart and determination and his blocking ability on top of it. Crediting the “great” Oline is a huge disservice to a great RB who owns and earned every record.

Nobody ever talks about Jim Brown's line, either. He ran behind more Hall of Famers than Emmitt did.

Those are two fabulous names in the Guard category. For me it was Larry though. The violence at the point of attack was something we rarely witnessed.

It's what makes me so mad at Erik Williams. He and Larry were like twins in violent offensive line play. Erik should have been a multiple pro-bowler and HOFer.

With (5) Larry Allens on a Cowboys line this would have resulted in the league stepping in to create rules for distribution.

No way a team could ever have that many riches, and be let to run with it in a parity driven league.

And you are right. We would have had way more attendances at the big dance.

Oh yeah, and several of his linemen were holdovers from the 1-15 team.

Jim Brown's lines had more than 1 every year of his career except 2, when they only had 1.
