I put very little stock in these practice videos showing 1 on 1 matchups. For one, there is no real pass rush on the QB. Secondly, we don’t always know what they are working on. Sometimes they are actually working on learning new pass routes, blocking schemes, etc. and may not even be attempting real coverage.

Mike McCarthy made this point at a presser last year. Someone asked him if he was concerned about DBs getting beat and he said something to the effect of - “Sometimes we are working on things offensively and the defensive coverage isn’t the focus.”

Training camp videos are fun. But buyer beware. It doesn’t come with an explanation of what the situation is they are practicing. That’s why I don’t always put a ton of stock in practice videos.

This is good news. Defense will be good. It's the offense that's concerning. I'll count this as a win.

As others have said this is a drill that favors the receivers and they should win most of these 1 on 1 situations. But there was some good coverage and good throws on these drills too. The QBs are not getting pressure so they can just throw the ball right on the spot.

I don't know whether we should be concerned about Diggs speed or elated that CeeDee and Simi are showing good speed.

Defense is a team thing. The sum of the parts may be greater than individual parts so we should temper our emotions about DBs getting beat in this drill.

I just hope the DBs aren't going to let this stuff damage their psyche.
