Seeing the thread on Zeke wanting a SB and a Gold Jacket made me chuckle.... uhm, really? You mean he wants to win a title? Which player in the entire league wouldnt say that?

Every year we see this stuff in the pre-season. Dak is hungry, Dak is in the best shape of his life.... blah, blah, blah. IM just curious why everyone puts so much stock, or maybe its better to say shows so much interest in what players, journalists, or coaches say. Do you think any of them are being honest?

If Dak was looking like garbage, do you actually think Mike would say so? If they were quietly saying behind the scenes, we are screwed at WR right now, we need to do something..... do you think they would come ut and say that?

Im watching a show on Netflix right now on the disaster at 3 mile Island.... we were apparently about 30 minites away from having the largest disaster in the history of our country, all while the goct was saying everything is cool.

So for me, maybe its because im getting older, I dont listen to any of this noise anymore. People talking about how great Dak looks right now.... uhm, who cares, Hes only playing something that kind of looks like football right now. As the great Allen Iverson once say, its practice.

The media asks the same questions year after year, so we get the same answers you after year. And posters are like why is Dak saying that? Why is McCarthy saying that? Well guess what they're being asked the same freaking questions they got last year at about this time. Fans should pay attention to camp related highlights and comments instead of press conferences. Press conferences this time of year just suck and nothing of great importance is ever said.

Yup. That's why I really don't pay all that much attention at this point. Remember Phillip Tanner? Ted something or nother, the tall CB who was so fast?

Don't get me wrong, it's fun to get info and all, but info at this point is purely for entertainment.

They are all part of the great hype machine and it is their job to keep priming that pump because that is their living. From the coaches and players to the broadcast, internet and print media, they must keep the beast alive.

They do not have to say much but they do have to say something. Romo liked "we got to get better at that" and Garret liked "we'll watch the film". Stating the obvious and saying very little.

Every HC says the championship is the goal while barely half know they have a chance at that but it is all about sell, sell, sell.

At some point, the NFL made the complete shift to business from sport and the fans helped that along with fantasy and gambling. There aren't enough fans that love it just for the sport to keep it alive, most have to be vested.

The NFL has become a business that is discussed far more than it is played.

I think it can tell you a lot about where their head is at and how it may affect how they play during the season. Zeke is talking about a gold jacket… if he believes he is already on a hall of fame trajectory, what does that tell us about how he perceives previous efforts and whether that effort will improve?

It's just words, we all know that they give positive responses....so what? This time of year everyone is undefeated and in the best shape of their lives. Doesn't bother me one bit....I'd be bothered if he said, I'm overweight, my knee is killing me and our OL is a big question mark.

Yet many are told here not to judge by their own eyes, it must be in bold print to be true.
I understand that our knowledge as a fan base comes primarily from what we hear and see from all media sources, but it's the weeding out process that is difficult.
Find the sources you trust the most, and nothing wrong with your own opinions.

I haven’t been really paying that much attention, tbh. Maybe because I just have other things on my mind and in my life that needs my attention more. Priorities.

My post was only in regards to the Bull Durham type interviews and the responses we get. I dont give one damn about that garbage they speak.

BUT, the NFL is still about the games. Winning and losing is EVERYTHING. Its is US that cant get enough of the NFL. Look where we are right now? The internet has allowed us to get NFL football 12 months out of the year. This place doesnt shut down in March.

You view Fantasy football as a negative. It took me from a big time serious Cowboys fan, to an absolute all in EVERY WEEKEND all day long, 7 days a week 3 plus hours a day ridiculous SUPER FAN. The game consumes me all year long. If you somehow think that makes me less vested, I think you clearly dont understand fantasy football.

We listen to everything football for a month prior to the draft. We have group texts talking smack every day. We pay attention to every teams injuries and signings FAR more than any non fantasy football player. Serious fantasy players know each team's RB depth chart and as soon as an injury occurs, its a race to the app to add a player off waivers.

It is comical for me to see your last sentence. "There aren't enough fans that just love itjust for the sport to keep it alive, most have to be vested.".....lol Are you kidding? The NFL has never had more fans, never had more fans traveling long distances for games, never had more fans watching games on TV, never had more fans attending the damn draft, never just had this many fans.... period. You sound a lot like the old guy saying, WELL BACK IN MY DAY.

Well back in my day I had to watch many of my teams 10 second highlight clip while listening to Howard on MNF halftime. Back in my day there was only a few games available each week. Back in my day, the thought of traveling across the country to watch a game was unheard of. Back in my day the NFL was not even the number 1 sport in America.

Well today, the NFL is the most popular sport in America, and it isnt even close.

This may not be the point of your post but I bet a surprising percentage of players honestly don’t care about winning a championship. I bet in a Venn diagram there would be serious overlap with the players who just want to make money and the players who don’t care about winning a championship.

This… you can either watch the content yourself and formulate your own opinion or be a casual ‘lazy’ fan and take the clips from twitter and use that to formulate your opinions…i.e. seeing Trevon burnt once and saying he sucks

..lol......yep, with age comes perspective and ability to filter. Your brain is presenting human bias short cuts, as facades. Check out Daniel Kaneman "Thinking fast and slow". Long read, but worth it.

Yeah but your post about everything is garbage right now that is fed to the media is true for 32 teams.. so when your deciding who your QB1 is for your fantasy team i’m sure you don’t judge this on coach speak.

Not sure what the point of this post is…the same thing is being said around 32 clubs that’s why you need to separate the substance from the noise and by playing FF i’m sure you are up to date on things more than the casual fan just like me

my post was in response to coach coach. He thinks fantasy football is full of casual fans that are ruining the game. In my experience it is the exact opposite. Every league Ive played in is full of complete NFL addicts.

I don't know where you get I view fantasy as a negative, I began playing it in its infancy stage many years ago and played for 25 years but I do understand the impact and number of fans that brought into the game and the rule changes that brought about to expand scoring. The NFL noticed that as well because they went from ignoring it to fully embracing it and even created the Red Zone Channel for the players.

One Sunday at the Fox and Hound in Dallas I watched about 40 women cheering wildly, not at the team, but at the players because they were on their fantasy team, they had become a participant. They were cheering against their hometown Cowboys because they were vested in their own team.

If you think the changes they've made in the game to embrace the fringe and fantasy fans as well as acknowledging gambling is as big as football aren't really the reason for the growth, then OK, I do not agree.

Damn few fans, compared to the majority, that would sit and watch a 13-10 slugfest anymore.

This is not the game I grew up watching but I accept it is the game of today.
