Love this time of the year. From my nephews playing pee wee ball to watching the Cowboys! Nothing makes for a better way to spend the weekends. Enjoy brothers and sisters for the football God's are about to smile down on us!

Yep. It is a great time of the year. I’m always so excited about football being back. I dearly love that sport. There’s nothing else like it.

I’ve played it / watched it for almost my entire life, and I read/watch everything I can get my hands on. If I could get together a game of flag football right now, I’d be out there in the rain playing.

Here in Georgia, high school football starts the third weekend in August - 19th & 20th.

College football across the country starts the following weekend; so called "Week 0" - August 27th.

I may be dating myself here but when I was a young man the only way to get real info about the nfl was to buy the different magazines at the news stand and I would read them cover to cover multiple times till new ones arrived. I remember one year I got a Dallas Cowboys subscription for a magazine that wasn't full size but more like a mini magazine (digest?) to keep people informed about just the Cowboys. Good Times...

Before moving to Texas, I had the subscription to Dallas Cowboys Weekly in Florida.
My first issue was Jerry buying the team. Had it for 10 or 11 years. Moved to DFW in 98, still had a year or 2 left on current subscription.

I stopped getting it as now I had all the local news, plus the explosion of the internet.
I still have all the issues. In a rubber maid box, along with the local Newspapers after the SB’s. As my father in law kept copies for me until the next time we visited. One copy is still unopened.

Exactly - before each season. I would get Street and Smith, Athlon, Sport, SI and a couple of others, and the mini magazine I believe was Football Digest.

I saved a copy of a Dallas Cowboys weekly....I took my staff to a camp practice and got to have a 30 minute conversation with Jerry....he treated us like Kings....I was interviewed By a Dallas Cowboys weekly reporter, two page spread....I was quoted as saying that I "wanted to shake the hand of the man that fired Jimmy Johnson " lol!!

I know what y'all are saying, but this has been an odd year. We've actually had football (USFL and CFL) since April.

As a Pirates fan in baseball, I've appreciated both of them.

Saw the Winnepeg Blue Bombers - Calgary Stampede on July 30th.
Fantastic game - lead changes throughout, with a close win at the end.
