Hey guys,

I made a similar thread after the playoff loss last year and things felt more bleak than hopeful, but a new season is around the corner, so I wanted to check in and see how everyone is feeling about it.

Given what we currently know about the roster and overall team/organization dynamic, what are you expecting/hoping for out of the season?

Yes, I know I'm mostly known as a hater around here, so I'm sure nobody will be shocked to hear that I'm not overly optimistic about 2022. It seems the roster got worse and then Stephen & Jerry are spinning it, per usual, by trying to voice their "confidence" in all the young guys.

Overall though, I'm still feeling the hangover from the 49er loss.

I'm struggling to find much excitement and that's a very foreign feeling for me concerning the Cowboys, especially in August.

Anyways, I'm rambling. How do y'all feel???
Yeah I am the same as you right now. I am fairly positive on the potential but do not find myself digging for information. I live in NY so used to listen to all the podcasts, especially during camp. I have not turned on one all year. Even the Barr signing doesn’t have me excited enough to get immersed. To be honest it’s not just a Cowboys thing. The NFL has really turned me off with their nonsense. I despise Gooddell. I am going to try to listen to a few podcasts this week to see if I can get myself more excited.

and another one bites the dust! ( longtime fan ) but ol jerry will still have a full stadium each homegame! and media asking him questions, so he
will be happy whatever the outcome lol.
Fill the stadium, and give some jerry speak to media, and jerry is in heaven! As for doing good in playoffs,
dont forget that is a process !! a very long process !:muttley:

Well besides your avatar making me continue participating in this forum  I will of course also continue to be a Cowboys fan. Just not a paying one anymore. No Jerseys or Hats for the family and me this season. Actually not until they reach an NFCCG, whenever that will be. I can only "vote" with my wallet, so that's what I'm gonna do. And since around here you have to stay up until 4am monday morning to watch most Cowboys games live I will cease doing that too. Replays on monday night will suffice.

I still think like I said in my other thread about the first seven games last season, that we do have a good squad together. If thats enough to make us a true SB contender remains to be seen. But after 26 years of nothingness just having .500+ seasons is simply not good enough, if what follows is a one and out all the time.

I love the trolls saying it’s all on Dak this year only expecting 5 wins. Their agenda is so obvious.

Of course if we surpass those expectations they won’t give him credit for winning more.

The Niners won because they had the better football team. Its as simple as that. Just like they walked into GB the next week and beat the Packers.

IF you thought we should have won that game, and especially after all the injuries and Oline issues the 2nd half of last year then that is on you. NOTHING to do with buying in.
Yep

Most of those in the know tried to warn everyone it wasn’t a good match up for us but many Cowboy fans refused to listen.

And the game went pretty much as expected. Only reason we had a glimpse of hope in the end is because we clearly had the better QB.

I’m not sure why most fans wouldn’t expect the Cowboys to contend for the division and a playoff spot?

While we don’t look as strong as last years 12-6 team it’s not any more clear our divisional rivals have surpassed us .

The over / under is 10 1/2. I’ll take the under to be safe but I’d say barring any season ending injuries to our most key players 9-10 wins should be doable which will place us in contention for division and or a playoff slot.

How anyone cannot be excited to watch another season of Micha Parsons is beyond me. This dude is the most exciting player in football right now playing defense.

that simply isnt true, it is what jones boys and some fans believe though.
A team has to be playing good in dec and the games leading up to playoffs. They have to be a good team with a good defense and offense.
Weak teams get eliminated early in WC or Div rounds.

anything can happen for one game, but not through playoffs, the better teams will come out on top.

Meh go tell that to Eli Manning and Joe Burrows 10-7 Bengals last year. Don't make me go back season by season just to prove how wrong you are. Please. I'm busy at work today.

I'm with you. Still reeling from the 49ers loss. Terrified about the playcalling falling off, O-line and WR depth, and "terrified" doesn't do how concerned I am about the kicker justice. Then again, it seems like every time we expect a down year they come out and do great. Every time we expect a great year it's awful. I just hope we don't have any terrible injuries and I hope Dak improves and regains his confidence.

I'm excited for the season to start as always. But I'm also believing "Same owner, same results" until proven otherwise. Jerry is a .500 owner.

I fully admit that when we were 7-1 and rolling over teams rushing for 180 yards per game and the Oline was handling teams, that I had as a true contender. And at that time, they were. But as soon as the Oline and run game went, that was it. The 2nd half of the year we were anything but.

Knowing that one playoff win is the absolute most I can expect out of this team seems to dampen my excitement.

That said I am quite anxious to see our Tyler Smith go against the eagles Jordan Davis.
I believe the winner of our offensive line against their defensive line will decide the division.

Very glad we got rid of the underachievers hated Randy Gregory Collins was a load and Cooper wasn't worth the cash.

Very upset we had to get rid of Cedric Wilson. He was a player really liked him.

Honestly a bit concerned about Micah being able to live up to all this hype. They are putting a lot of pressure and responsibility on this young man in his second year.

And one thing we know there is film on him now he has a target on his back and it will be no cake walk for him this year if he isn't twice as prepared as he was last year.

The best efforts by our offense and defense could be undermined by what looks so far to be a horrible kicking game.

This in itself puts a bit of a damper on my excitement.

We always go cheap somewhere or are not prepared and are made to pay for it

It's funny to see all of you with the doom and gloom predictions and expectations. Sucks to be you!.
My excitement level for the season is very high mostly because I'm just a football fan in general but theres plenty storylines to follow and reasons to be optimistic.

offense:
- returning with more beef and attitude on the line should improve the run game which improves everything else
- youth at wr ceedee will be wanting to prove his point and the youngsters will be following suit
- dak and zeke will have major chips on their shoulders and will be looking to shut the naysayers up

defense:
- micahs just getting started
- our defensive additions fowler and barr are improvements in my eyes
- gallimore and odiggy are getting to the point we'll see a big improvement

special teams:

- our kicker might suck
- turpin
- turpin
- turpin

let's go!
:starspin:

Excited as ever. Hopefully we actually use pollard and cee dee this season unlike playoff game where they didn’t even touch it until we had lost in the 4th. Defense should be improved really looking forward to Sam Williams. Defense also wasn’t as good when Micah wasn’t coming off edge so time will tell. Always excited it’s football. Win lose or tie we love cowboys til we die

The closer we get to real football, the more excited I get and with the unknowns about this Cowboys team, that always piques the curiosity.

I do not have lofty expectations for this team so I do not have to be concerned about a letdown.

It's gonna be what it's gonna be so I am ready to get to discussing what it is or appears to be instead of all this conjecture.

Honestly, I have zero excitement, but I'm watching for the entertainment factor. This team isn't going far, so I'll just cheer for certain individuals to ball out.

I do want them mollywhop the Eagles tho!!!
