A simple rule the NFL forgets every year: Less flags > more flags.

Fans don’t want to watch a game where the guys in stripes have more camera time than the players. It often feels like the “Competition Committee” is trying to make the game “perfect” instead of “excellent”.

Don’t care. We won’t get the 50/50 calls go our way when the game’s on the line, just like last year.

“Hmmm Chris Godwin shoves off Jourdan Lewis with 2 hands, I’ll allow it!”

"Anthony Brown facemasks Patriots player in OT, let it slide!"

Try and figure out why the WR didn’t even GLANCE at the ref.
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

If that's the standard then neither did David Irving in the '16 Green Bay game playoff game but everyone swears he was held.

Let em play....one day a team will approach 100 points with these rules
That's what they want and where we've been headed. I'm especially bitter because I love defense. Imagine being a defensive back covering a WR that knows the route and you don't PLUS all of these advantages leaning toward the offense?
Even the penalties themselves are lopsided.

The officials need to focus on allowing players to play. More flags isn’t going to improve the game.

From the NFL rulebook:

If a player grasps an opponent’s facemask, he must immediately release it. If he does not immediately release it and controls his opponent, it is a foul.

So a quick, incidental grab like what Brown did is not a penalty. That ball looked uncatchable anyways.

Oh so NOW you pivot to the rules. Now we're getting somewhere.

Brown yanked his facemask in 2 separate directions. You don't "immediately release" if you had time to yank in 2 separate directions. And the ball was very catchable. Brown prevented any break on the ball. That's "controlling the opponent" to prevent his route. See what happens when folks actually quote the rules? Lol.

LOLLL so that wasn’t an “immediate” release of the facemask?

“Immediate means in 0.003 seconds or less, Brown CLEARLY took 0.004 seconds!!!”

I hate those penalties, way too much of a judgement call and there's nothing more annoying than seeing that big 3rd down sack negated by a ticky tack illegal contact call.

Same here. The dirt, mud and grind is the best. I don't need a high score. But I do get that it's today's appeal.

I get the deflection (2 more smileys would help) but 2 pulls of the same facemask is clearly not incidental and neither is it an immediate release if you have time to do that. No way around it. Appreciate you bringing up the rules though since most don't. There in black and white.

LOLLLL “2 pulls of the facemask”? Get your eyes checked.

Nelson Agholor after the game:

“But for me, if [Mac Jones] gives me opportunities, my job is to find a way. That’s how I look at it. I wish I was a little bit closer to it and give myself an opportunity to make a play on that.”

So the WR himself thought it was uncatchable AND blamed himself for not being in position for it to be catchable, but YOU know better.
