Our fans always crying. They brought in 2 kickers. Who else did you want,?
Them to bring in legit competition before camp began. They knew going with an UDFA and a guy they were familiar with was just playing Russian roulette. Now they are scraping through the scraps to make do and likely will end up signing a guy from another team come week one.

Again who were they going to bring in that was legit competition? Everybody out there aren't great. They're roughly only 2 weeks into camp

My senior year in high school (late 80s), there was a new fellow classmate who came from North Texas who consistently made kicks from 65 yards and under. He was a lifelong soccer player who had a leg on him...and very accurate. The coaching staff and team told him he had a very good chance to land a college scholarship solely on his kicking ability, but he got a girl pregnant that senior year, joined the military and thus lost any chance of what could have been. He also grew up a Cowboys fan. Oh, well...

I’m not an alarmist but this is the stuff that plagues the team team the last 25yrs under the Jones family…letting holes fester once they happen. The weird part is this isn’t like safety. They’ve had top kickers. Now it seems it’s a cost saving/draft measure

Good.....

It's weird that finding decent kickers has suddenly become so difficult. Snowflakes can't kick?

I dont see the problem in going with Lirim. He was good last year and should have been kept.

Thinking Garibay was the next Bailey was a nice thought, but it doesn't appear to be the case.

Oh well.

My point was they needed to address this in March and April. You sign a free agent kicker or you draft one. You solve the issue before it becomes one. It’s been their approach to swing tackle and both defensive tackle/safety until recent years.

When kickers are going 4/11, 5/11, 6-/11 in camp, the chances are slim to none that the light magically goes on and they become Justin Tucker.

Your point is valid in that there is literally nothing available. But it’s only that way because they refused to make a move until the second week of August.

Why would they need to work out Maher?
They think he's become a different kicker than last go round?
Had some life changing epiphanies and he can knock the rock better?
He did make 89% of his FG tries last year lol

In the eight games that Maher played, he made 16 of 18 field goals (88.9%) with one of those misses being from beyond 50 yards. He was also the lone scorer in the 9-0 win at Tampa Bay where he made all 3 of the field goals he attempted. He did miss 2 extra points in those eight games, but even with those he was still 2nd on the team in extra point percentage all year.

4-4 from 20-29
8-9 from 30-39
4-4 from 40-49
0-1 from 50+

are you blind or umm......they did draft Garibay and many loved the pick what now all the backtracking, also this other guys was pretty good last year in practice, both struggling does NOT MEAN they didn't address it..facts are Greg was what most NFL kickers are but fans wanted him gone..they are addressing it, again, how were they supposed to know Garibay would struggle??

get over it mr internet keyboard GM..

He was an UDFA not drafted and no. Not all of us loved that pick and most preferred Dicker, York, Brkic.

Get over it? How many games did Greg cost us by missing extra points or gimme field goals? The answer is multiple. This isn’t not addressing swing tackle or some backup depth. Dude is kicking extra points short! Can’t wait to lose games by missing more extra points or 30 yard field goals.

If they were confident in either kicker they wouldn’t be bringing in four guys before the first preseason game. Bringing in a familiar guy like Maher just says bring in a guy for insurance.
